going to make Fuzzy write the story ;) but Wake again is too little too late losing 16-19 to rival UNC.

Off the field however, Wake got another solid day on the recruiting trail picking up 5 more committments.

    #36 Athlete - Matt Mason - 3*

Matt is described by Wake coaches, as "simply a gamer." The son of a football coach, Matt possess' great football IQ and at 6'3 247 figures to transfer to De at the collegiate level. If he can get a hell of a lot faster, he could maybe play MLB- or bulk up and play DT. Coaches are excited to see how Mason will progress and where he will find himself on the depth chart, and at what position, in a year or two.

    #56 Cornerback - Thomas Anderson - 3*

A North Carolina native, Thomas has great man to man coverage skills which plays well into Coach Kasper's scheme on defense. "Our secondary has to be able to play man to man. If you can't cover the guy across from you then we have to help you, which takes away from the unit as a whole," said Coach Kasper. Anderson has solid athleticism as well, and will use a few years learning from older players before making an impact on the field more than likely.

    #47 Quarterback - Scott Powell - 3*

Coaches have been talking about Powell and are very high on him. He has a good arm (B- Power, C+ accuracy), but his lack of athleticism could limit him. With the recent play of Kevin Sousa, Powell could be looking at waiting a few years before actually seeing any gametime, but the Alma, Michigan native said he has "no problem with that. I don't want to be rushed on the field, and I think the coaches at Wake can best prepare me for when my time comes."

    #52 Defensive End - Johnny Mitchell - 3*

Coaches have been making a push to really get some talent on the defensive side, and they are slowly building a base for such a plan. "We want to recruit a lot of guys on the defensive side to create that competition to really get the best out of our kids. If you have a guy nipping at your heels all season, you're going ot play better." Johnny plays a lot bigger then his 6'1 230 frame and loves to mix it up in the running game. If he can polish his pass rushing skills look for him to make an impact. He is a raw one.

    #50 Strong Safety - Wayne Maxwell - 3*

Wayne is another raw athlete that needs to refine his football skills, but Wake is starting to get a reputation for really getting the most out of their defensive backs. Wayne will likely spend a year or two on the bench before seeing gametime, but there will be a lot of competition at the SS spot in the offseason. If he can come in and bust his tail, he very well could get on the field early. This spring will play heavily into what kind of career Wayne has at Wake.

Virginia wins four straight taking care of Miami 45-27
After coming from a struggling game last week against North Carolina State the Cavaliers regrouped and took it to Miami strong. The defense of the Cavaliers forced 2 INT's and played good D. Perry Jones had another fantastic game racking up 206 yards on 31 attempts and 1 TD. Michael Rocco had a average game going 13-26 for 209 Yards and throwing for 3 TD's and 0 INTs. After the game sports reporter, Erin Andrews came to ask Duke some questions. "Duke, what is it that you are doing to turn these Cavaliers around?" She asked. "Well Erin what we do to this team is practice sun up to sun down. We scout our opponents as soon as we get the tape and the day before game. We are teaching them how to be winners and it's showing on the field." Duke stated. "Your ranked #13 in the latest BCS polls, how do you feel about that?" Erin asked. "I think this is good. I don't see us competing for anything major yet but our defense is showing up big for us so far and I hope it will stay that way for the rest of the season." "That's all the time we have for you Duke. Good luck the rest of the season." Erin stated. "Thank you." Duke said.

    20 Straight at the Camp!

Ohio State came to Madison flat and left with the loss. James White did his thing to carry the Badgers to a 28-19 win over the #9 Buckeyes.
Wisconsin couldnt come out much hotter. Kenzel Doe returned the opening kick to midfield and it only took a few plays for White to rumble into the endzone. after a quick 3 and out, the Badgers kept rolling and White found the endzone again. Early in the 2nd quarter, Phillips hit Jeff Duckworth on a short pass and he did the rest, going 71 yards to score and go up 21-0

Buckeyes finally got something working late in the 2nd and scored on a nice outroute pass to Brown. and then the next play, Phillips was hit on the throw and the ball drifted to a waiting LB. The drive stalled and they resulted in a short FG. The 3rd quarter was quick and OSU got the only points with another short FG very late.

Now an 8 pt game, OSU had their shots and got inside the 25 three times in the quarter but couldnt find the endzone. After a huge 4th down stop, James White broke free for a 75 yard game sealing TD. Miller scrambled in a last second TD to make it closer.

Braxtons legs did a lot of damage all day as the QB scrambled for 82 yards. OSU ended with nearly 500 yards to the Badgers 300 but a win is a win.
James White racked up over half of the Badgers offense with his legs.

The defense played well but not outstanding. 4 sacks, 2 ints (both by Luke Davis) and a fumble that went OB.

Big matchup next week against Purdue on the road.

Tar Heels Narrowly Escape Wake Forest
    [IMG]
The heated rivalry game was once again a closely fought battle, decided by a FG. Carolina got the ball first, but ended up having to punt at mid-field. The two teams sputtered on offense, with Giovanni Bernard fumbling the ball created the games only turnover.
Early in the second quarter, UNC was able to get into FG range and knock one through the uprights from 42 yards out. Wake was able to respond with a FG of their own. The Tar Heels methodically moved the chains with a nice mix of running and passing, and Giovanni made up for his earlier mistake with a 24 yd TD run on a counter play to the weak side. UNC managed to kick one more FG before the half, making it a 13-3 lead.
The third quarter was all defence, but Carolina managed yet another FG. Going into the fourth, it looked bleak for the Demon Deacons, as they trailed 3-16. Wake Freshman QB Kevin Sousa electrified the crowd on a pass on 4th and short from mid-field; he threw it to Lovell Jackson on an out route, and Jackson broke a tackle and took it to the house for a 49 yard TD reception. The Tar Heels drained the clock out with a very long drive down the field that was 90% run plays. They finally kicked a FG, making it a 19-10 lead with one minute to go in the game. Wake was able to drive down the field and score one more time, but they had to time remaining to perform an onside kick. The 2-point conversation failed, and UNC escapes the hostile environment with a 19-16 win.
    Great game Kasper

fuzzyl0gic I'll get you one of these times.. my talent level was seemingly right there with you-- I just need some speed on offense to create some separation passing.

    #4 Michigan 40
    Alabama 14

Michigan picks up a win on the road over the SEC power and improves to 7-1 on the season. Heisman hopeful Denard Robinson ended the day the 325 yards and 3 touchdowns and threw 0 interceptions. David Harrison added 40 yards on the ground. Freshman Matt Herron had a break out day, and while he did drop several passes, he still ended up with 136 yards and two touchdowns. The surprising freshman also did have a fumble though. Michigan climbed from #5 to #4 this week in the Coaches Poll but dropped to number 5 in the BCS poll as somehow UCLA jumped from 9 to 1 by beating unranked Arizona.

Hopefully me and Denard can make it to the rematch. Denard already had to sit two weeks for injury, missed a 2nd half with injury, and left this game briefly. All his injuries are hits after he's thrown the ball or sacks, it's crazy.

Yellow Jackets take their frustrations out on the helpless Blue Devils. After "Stripgate" last week coaches forced all offensive players to walk around with a football tucked away tightly, in classes and even when they went to sleep at night. Needless to save their conservative approach paid off as Georgia Tech did not have any fumbles in the game

Georgia Tech is ranked #6 in the nation with a big game vs. Boston College next week.
