man this game drives me insane. Im playing at wisconsin tied 17-17 with 6 minutes left in the fourth. i have third and goal from the 4 and i try a short out pass to the wide side of the field. its picked off. three straight picks and i lose 34-24. i may run 40 times a game next year. good game Oshiomogho

Badgers defeat illinois 34 - 20 in sloppy snow fest

Early it was the Badger offense making lots of mistake; interceptions, overthrows and bad execution on offense. But the defense did their part to keep it close. When the game got into the 4th quarter, it looked like Illinois was about to score and take the lead but the Badgers defense took over. An interception inside the 5 lead to a 96 yard run by James White and then immediately the Badgers defense nabbed a pick 6 and later 1 last interception to seal the game. The Illini did manage a kick return score to get back within 10 but the game was over at that point.

Curt Phillips played very poorly. After a deep 64 yard PA pass on his first attempt, he followed it up by going 2/10 for 9 yards and 3 INTs. But James White did his thing. on just 17 attempts, he rattled off 239 yards and 3 scores. Along with the 96 yard run, he also broke a 68 yarder earlier in the game. Without the two carries, his average still only goes from 14 down to 5 YPC.

The win will clinch another undefeated season at Cmap Randall going 6-0 this year and extending the streak to 22 in a row. The Badgers head to Nebraska to wrap up their regular season next week and pending a Purdue loss this week, may still have a shot at the Big 10 Championship game for a rematch of last year with Michigan.

    #16 Wake Forest 27
    @
    #7 Virginia 23

Wake gets a huge game from freshman QB Kevin Sousa on the road against a stout Virginia team. It seemed early that Wake wasn't going to be even touch Virginia, as the Cavaliers jumped out to a 23-7 lead going into halftime. Coaches told Sousa at half that it was going to be on him, since junior tailback Josh Harris was out with broken ribs and the offense was pretty much non existent.

The second half was all Wake Forest, as the Deacons would score 20 unanswered to win 27-23.

Sousa finished the game with career numbers; 20-28 for 306 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 interceptions. Sophomore Matt James got the start on the day at WR to provide a deep threat, and he did not disappoint. The 6'6 208 Raleigh, NC native caught 7 balls for 164 yards and 2 TD's. James was also tackled at the one yard line on one catch. James was just a mismatch for the Virginia defensive backs all evening. Michael Campanaro did his usual work moving the chains, providing the game clinching first down on the final drive. Tight end Tommy Bohanon also caught a TD. Running back Nick Knott didn't do much filling in for Harris, but did cash in a short run for a TD.

Also, credit to the secondary for making adjustments and locking Virginia down.

Overall, Coach Pelini was very happy about the game. "We knew this wasn't going to be easy, and our guys showed a lot of grit to come back and win this ball game. All the credit goes to them."

Good game -Cougars- , see you next season!

It will be after the season ends...during the offseason. It's gonna be quite long like normal but it will be enjoyable.
