    NMSU Shocks Arizona St, 23-22

TEMPE - In his first game as a strater, Tanner Rust completed 15 of 28 for 303 yards and 3 TD's as the Aggies defeated the Sun Devils on a last second field goal.

The first NMSU drive moved the ball well, until HB Kenny Turner was stopped on 4th and inches at the ASU 32. Turner was knocked out of the game with a concussion and NMSU's game plan of running the ball had to change. The next drive stalled early and ASU took advantage to the tune of a 10-0 lead. When NMSU fumbled the ball, ASU could have put the Aggies away, but credit the NMSU defense for keeping the team in the game. They forced a punt, then forced another 4th down but stopped ASU on a fake punt, which seemed to shift the momentum. The next play, Rust threw a 56-yd TD to Franklin to get on the board (10-7) at 2:30 in the 2nd. ASU marched for a FG and a 13-7 halftime lead.
In the 2nd half, ASU took a 16-7 lead, then a 22-7 lead with 1:18 in the 3rd. Their 2-pt conversion would fail, and NMSU's Rust took advantage with a 77-yd bomb to Preston just as he was getting hit (22-14). NMSU recovers a fumble and drives the field through the air on an 18-yd TD pass from Rust to TE McIntyre (22-20 with 6:05 to go). The two-pt conversion would fail. ASU then throws an INT, NMSU returns the favor, then ASU goes 3-and-out and punts the ball with 3:51 to go.
Then the drive! A 7-play, 3:51 drive which chewed up the entire clock, even though ASU never used a timeout, and NMSU's kicker T. Stampler kicked a 23-yard FG as time expired.
"I'm so happy for these guys. They've worked hard all offseason. Great win for the program," coach GatorJes said.

    New Mexico State is 1-0.

The NMSU OPG is QB Tanner Rust, 15-28, 303 yds, 3TD, 1 Int
The Def Player of the Game is Xxx Xxxxxxx with 12 Tot Tack, 10 Solo Tackles, 3 TFL, 1 Forced Fumble

I'm also off tomorrow so I think that'd be better. I'm going to get my recruiting and game done for this week right after the Giants game and then I have to play a game in another lg. After that I'll probably just chill for a while so tomorrow would be better.

I'm home and can play now . . . have we advanced? I left the house last evening at halftime last night and have been in a bit of an alcohol induced coma since then. I keep hearing the Alabama fight song in the back of my head. Make it stop!!!
