CAN'T TOUCH THISPurple get third straight victory over Buccs, 30-20.
The Vikings pulled it off again! The 3rd straight victory after a 2 game losing streak. All hell broke loose, we lost a lot of our key players including the biggest piece to the puzzle, Percy Harvin. Life goes on though, players step up and game plans improve or take a change. \CP7 looked to be in last year's form as he did not throw an interception and tossed the pigskin for 218 yadrs and 1 touchdown. AP led the way on the ground with 71 yards rushing while scoring once. Steve Slaton had a nice game with only 2 rushes but for 34 yards and a score. His biggest run of the day was a 30 yard counter which caught the defense off guard. Nobody on the Vikings' receiving side lit it up but they all did what they were asked of. Greg Childs had the biggest day with 3 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings defense played brilliant today. Although they gave up some yards, they played a bend but don't break strategy. As of last week, we were in the top 5 in defense for all of HK. The defense frustrated Josh Freeman and sacked him 4 times while recording 1 interception! The Vikings will now travel to Detroit to take on redwings8831 and his pesky Lions.
Playing Peyton Manning on auto is a bitch. So many audibles, so little defensive response.
Even A Blind Squirrel Finds A NUT! Sanchise Leads Jets Past Bills Jets 42 Bills 24 The last time the Jets and Bills faced each other in week 6 it was a tight 10-7 game, but this week both teams were ready to light it up on offense. Mark Sanchez would start again this week for the Jets trying to prove he can lead Coach Pettys offense to victory. Sanchez shouldn't have to worry about his job after this preformance (328yd 3TDs 0INT). Coach Petty stated he was "very impressed by Marks play today and looks for him to continue to carry this Jets team". Sanchez wasn't the only Jet who shined, Rookie Aerion Boudreaux had over 100yds on the ground with 50+yds recieving. The defensive unit did give up a season high 24 points, but they accumulated 8 sacks and 3 interceptions. The Jets will go (6-1) and will face the Cowboys next week. Coach Petty being a Cowboy fan growing up and being good friends with Coach BobJr will welcome them, but will expect a big victory.
Rams - 31
Panthers - 14
Turnovers were the big difference in this game, and St Louis turned it over two less times, with the Rams Secondary forcing four turnovers. Steven Jackson ran for two TDs and 85 yards, but the story of the game was the four turnovers forced by the Rams defense. Devery Henderson is proving to be the free agent pickup of the year going for 128 yards on 6 catches.
Blackattack87 Good game.
Shock and AweGiants Score w/ 1 Second Left to Beat Miami, 26-24 East Rutherford, NJ - The Giants had been struggling all season and coming into their game with Miami, knew they needed a victory to remain in contention in a lackluster NFC East. To spark the offense, New York traded Hakeem Nicks to the Cleveland Browns prior to this game for some picks and WR Greg Little. That acquisition turned out to be worthwhile. New York struggled offensively early, like they have all season long. Eli Manning threw an interception deep in Miami territory and Ahmad Bradshaw coughed up the pigskin in the Dolphins half as well. Drops halted drives on 3rd down and the offense seemed to be in the same rut they had been all season. Unfortunately, so was the defense. Miami HB Maurice Jones-Drew gutted the defense on the first play of the game for a 75 yard TD. MJD ran all over the Giants to the tune of 209 YDs and 2 TDs on 25 carries. It would not be enough. New York came back and held a 2-point lead, but would have to give the ball back to Miami late. The Dolphins drove down the field easily and on a key play with just over 1 minute remaining, Ryan Tannehill found Kevin Ogletree from 40 yards out. He walked in untouched...and that is just what the Giants wanted. The defense let Miami score to give New York the ball back. On the ensuing kickoff, David Wilson sparked life into the GMen returning the ball to the Phins 35. Down 24-19, New York needed a TD. Manning found the newly acquired Little wide open as he hauled in the pass and was shoved out of bounds at the 2 yard line with under 30 seconds left. A Damien Berry rush would be stuffed at the goalline, and a quick pass would bounce around the endzone. After another drop, New York was faced with a 4th and goal with little time left on the clock. The Giants dialed up a multi-option pass play for Eli. Just as he was about to get leveled, Manning delivered a well timed, accurate pass to TE Adrien Robinson. Usually Robinson drops the important passes, but this time he hauled it in and kept control, giving New York a 26-24 lead with no time to spare.
49ers 27 - Eagles 3
The 49ers defense came to play today and shut down Michael Vick and the speedy Eagles offense, holding them to a total of 174 yards of offense while forcing 2 turnovers and recording 9 sacks on the day, 4 of those by Aldon Smith while chasing down Vick on the run. The Niners came out of the gates hot, shutting down the Eagles and forcing 2 fumbles on the first 3 possessions, one being returned for a TD by Justin Smith. The 49ers offense struggled, however, failing to get drives going with any consistency, mainly because the receivers had a total of 7 drops, yes that is 7 DROPS. Crabtree and Jenkins had 3 drops each, but each still led the Niners in receiving as Crabtree hauled in 5 for 71 yards and Jenkins hauled in 4 for 34 yards. Frank Gore and the Niners rushing attack was potent as usual as Gore ran for 141 yards on 9 carries and had 2 TD's. Gore had 2 runs of over 20 yards, one for 71 yards as he took the pitch outside and cut underneath the over-pursuing Eagles defenders, but he would get tackled at the 3 yard line which kept the Niners out of the endzone as Kaepernick would be intercepted by Asomugha a play later. Harrison Barnes ran 8 times for 33 yards and LaMichael James ran for 12 yards on 3 carries as he is slowly being worked back into the offense after recovering from his preseason injury.
The 49ers move to 7-0 and face division rival Seattle on the road next week.
SPECIAL TEAMS KEY IN BOLTS W IN CHICAGOChargers 24 Bears 21(SCIFRES straight outa WIU....GO 'NECKS) Well, the Bears were who we thought they were. However...they let US off the hook in this one. Chargers starting SS and CB Atari Bigby and Xavier Simmons went down early with broken collarbones. Both will miss at least 4-6 weeks.....a terrible blow to the Chargers defense. Tony Romo and the Bears offense were cruising all game. Forte was unstoppable and the Chargers, especially after Simmons went down, had no one capable of covering Brandon The Beast Marshall OR Alshon Lil Beast Jeffrey. Special Teams ended up winning the game for the Chargers. Eddie Royal took back a kick return for a touchdown to tie the game up. The Bears had a great drive down the field late in the 4th quarter. With just under 2 minutes remaining, Robbie Gould lined up for a chip shot field goal and miss wide right....ROBBIE GOULD MISSED A FIELD GOAL? THAT NEVER HAPPENS!
The Chargers knew this was a gift from the Madden Gods, and made it count. Drove down the field pounding the ball with Ryan Mathews and James Starks (who continues to be an amazing free agent pick-up for SUPER cheap). Chargers rookie kicker Jason Kinslow drills the 30 yard field goal as time expires and the Chargers SNEAK past the Bears at Soldier Field.
After the game, Coach Gates had this to say to the media following the big win... "We just got outplayed most of that game. We knew it too. We had injuries, we had balls bounce the wrong way. We had some stuff happen we didn't expect. But we stayed in the game and we never gave up. I give a lot of credit to thirdalarm and those Bears...they played their ass off. They are in every game. I expect to see them turn it around rather quickly with all that talent they have. We are fortunate to win this game. Fortune favors the bold, and we showed a lot of heart staying in this one while taking punches left and right like that from the Bears. I am proud, but we need to play MUCH better after the bye. We can't expect missed field goals and kick returns to win games for us any longer."
BobJr Sorry this is a little late.
Packers double up Saints 42-21
Defense steps up big and holds one of the best Offenses in the league to just 21 points.
Coach Shaver dubbed the Week 8 matchup with the high powered New Orleans Saints as a Mid-Season measuring stick for his Green Bay Packers. Coach knew that the Saints had one of the best Offenses in the League, led by Drew Brees and 2 tailbacks who can take it to the house any time they touch the ball in Darren Sproles and Reggie Bush. All in all, I think Coach Shaver was happy with how his team stepped up to the challenge.
The game started off with both teams having pretty nice drives and putting points on the board early in the 1st quarter. The rest of the 1st half was a back and forth battle between two really good Offensive football teams as neither defense had much of an answer early on. That all changed near the end of the 2nd quarter...
With the Saints driving deep into Packer territory, Green Bay needed someone to step up and make a play, that someone was former Defensive Player of the Year, Charles Woodson... Knowing that Drew Brees' favorite target in the red zone is TE Jimmy Graham, Woodson took a risk and jumped the Out Route to the TE, picked off the pass and returned it 95 yards the other way for a touchdown... That play seemed to take the life out of the Saints entire team, as from that point forward the Packers held the Saints to just 14 points the rest of the way.
