This just in.. Sophomore QB Austin Grammer will start today for the Blue Raiders at Marshall. Grammer has relived starter Brent Stockstill the past 2 weeks and thrown for 7 touchdowns to 1 interception and over 550 yards, rallying the team in 1 game and nearly pulling a comeback in the other.

We will see how he fares in the starter role, kickoff is next!

MTSU rolled into West Virginia Saturday afternoon to try and get their first road win of the season, against a 5-1 football team, with a QB getting his 1st start of the season. Destined for failurer? Wrong. MTSU would dominate the Thundering Herd from start to finish, minus a fumble on the very first play of the game, in which Marshall would scoop and return inside the 5 yard line which would be the only score of the day for Marshall. The Blue Raider defense held the Herd to 129 yards of total offense, a performance nobody saw coming, not even head coach Jeff Hickerson.

"That was the best game we have played defensively since I have been here, no doubt. We came out fired up, played disciplined, tackled well, did everything the way we wanted it done really, and got the results we wanted and expect week in and week out. Now we know we can do it, against a very good football team, so we should expect and demand those result from ourselves each week," said Hickerson.

Austin Grammer was the story starting the day however, and he lived up to expectations in his first start of the season, replacing Brent Stockstill. Unfortunately, he didnt finish the game. Much like the season opener, in which Grammer and Stockstill split time, Grammer was injured early in the 3rd quarter and did not return. However, in his 2 quarters and a few mintes of playing time, Grammer went 12 of 18 for 218 yards, did not turn the ball over any, and managed the offense very well. Tailback Jordan Parker had 25 carries for 99 yards and 3 touchdowns.

All eyes will be on Grammer next week, as he is expected to return this week fot practice and be ready to go next week when the Blue Raiders hosts East Carolina in their attempt to get over .500 for the first time on the season.
