Post your summaries for the season in this thread.
Cowboys coming off last season great year started off with a tough game @ #2 Miami. This season the Cowboys after losing out a key recruit decided to take and change playbooks for the season. They have changed to a spread attack and the offense was clicking on all cylinders led by Senior QB Samuels. Wyoming got the ball first and drove right down the field in 10 plays 3 minutes and scored the first touchdown of their season. Miami would threaten but be stuck with a fg to make it a 7-3 game. Wyoming would be forced to punt and the Hurricanes would answer with a td taking a 10-7 lead. Samuels would stay poised and drive down the field and score a td to make it a 14-10 lead. Samuels got hurt for the rest of the quarter but backup Miller would come down and lead a drive after forcing the hurricanes to punt and score a td with 8 seconds left in the half to take a 21-10 lead into halftime. Miami would snser on opening drive of 2nd half with a td and make it a 21-17 game as Wyoming drove right down and scored a td of their own to make it a 28-17 lead. Yet again Miami would answer and Wyoming would answer right back to make it 35-24. Miami would score and make the 2pt conversion with 2:31 left and 3 timeouts to make it 35-32. Wyoming would get ey first downs and take a knee on the hurricanes 50yd like to upset #2 Hurricanes in Miami 35-32

Idaho beats rival Cougs in shootout in the Battle for the Palouse
Idaho wins triple OT thriller.
The Idaho Vandals displayed the type of fight that Coach sdid demanded in preseason camp. They never gave up even being down by 7 with 8 seconds to go. Qb Taylor Davis would connect from 88 yards out with Michell Crockum to set up the xpt tie as time expired. In the overtime period Davis would throw two more td's and in the third OT after a Vandal stop which were few and far between, Trey Farquhar would hit the game winner from 38 yards out.
Davis threw for 499 yards and 8 Td passes on 41 attempts.
It took all of those yards and TD's to get the job done as Idaho trailed most of the game. The Vandals did run the ball 29 times and had sporadic success .
Coach Sdid: We suck on defense. Hats off to our offense for never giving up and making plays when the chips were stacked against them. We already matched the win total from last year, where's my raise?
Miami(OH) Falls Just Short to #6 Pitt
The Redhawks held a 21-10 lead going into the 4th quarter, but the big stage was too much for the young Miami (OH) team. Pitt would storm back and pull within 5 points after the missed 2-point conversion. With the ball in hand, Miami(OH) would be forced to punt after the offensive line that was opening up gaps for HB Lawson, couldn't hold a single block...after the WRs would drop wide open...absolutely wide open lobs...and QB Dysert couldn't hit himself if he tried. With the ball and 2 minutes left, Miami(OH) was down 24-21 and found themselves inside the Pitt 35 yard line. After two dropped passes, Dysert would throw an interception in the endzone. Despite a fumble, which laid on the ground for what seemed like an eternity before a Panther lineman got up and ran downfield to pick it up, Miami(OH) was unable to recover. Next Week, Miami looks to turn things around on the road again, this time against the Rice Owls.
UAB hung in for 3 quarters, however they could not keep up with the tide in the 4th quater. Out of the gate the Tide would march down the field with ease and score the first TD of game going up 7-0. The Blazers would fumble on their first run of the game giving the Tide great field position that would lead to another TD giving the Tide 14-0 lead. Next Senior QB David Isabelle would lead the team down the field for a score. A huge play happened in the 2nd quarter where the Blazers trailed 21-7, freshman QB Curtis Moss would recognize an all out blitz and hit a wide open Patrick Hern for a 86 yard TD making the game 21-14. The Blazer would make a great stand on defense and for the tide 3 and out. THe Blazers controlled the clock and worked the ball to about Alabama's 35, the Blazers would go for it on 4th and 5 and alot of events would change the game. The pass over the middle was tipped for an incompletion, but what would hurt even more is that JR RB transfer Knile Davis would go down with a Broken Collar bone, he will be out for 6 weeks with his injury. Davis was controlling the ground and really helping the Blazers on 1st and 2nd down. With Davis out the Blazers could not mix up their gameplan as much as they would have liked. Late in the 3rd with the score 31-14 the Blazers would work the ball inside the 1 yard line and proceed to get stuffed 4 times. This was a turn of events that had done the Blazers in. "We have to get better on Defense. They scored too easy out there. With Knile going down somebody has to step up in the rb position until we can get him back."
The clock struck midnight.
Idaho loses to conference foe Latech 48-38
Idaho lost it's conference opener to La Tech, The vandal defense contiuned to play intramural football. To make matters worse, the Vandals lose Taylor Davis for four weeks as he was knocked out of the game early on. Losing him, may mean losing any shot at wins while he's out. The backup Qb Robinson threw for over 300 yards and 3 scores but also threw three picks taking away any hope for a Vandal road win.
Coach sdid: We cannot win playing defense like this, especially with Davis on the shelf. There will be an extreme change in the offensive game plan until he returns.
Rice makes win #1 in a close battle with Hawaii 41-38.
In an offensive clinc Hawaii and Rice put up a lot of points. Taylor Cook looked much improved from last season and was much more spot on with this throws. He threw for more than 400 yards and had 4 TDs with 2 INTs. The ground game was stiffled as Hawaii clogged all the running lanes for star tailback sam mcguffie. Rice hosts Miami of Ohio tonight!
#17 Wyoming wins easily as the starters would only play one quarter this week. Wyoming had the lead 28-0 in the first quarter and would sit the starters the rest of the game and end up winning 42-17.
Redhawks Win in Dramatic Fashion Miami(OH) 35 Rice 28The Miami of Ohio Redhawks traveled south to face the Rice Owls in cross conference play. Rice had just gotten off a big win of Hawaii, while Miami was licking their wounds after a heartbreaking defeat by #6 Pitt. Rice would open up a sizeable lead on the Redhawks early, 21-10 Owls entering the half. Sam McGuffie was by far the player of the game to that point, with a TD run and a 54 yard punt return for a TD. The Redhawks were looking for answers, and that came in the form of defense and luck. In the 3rd, FS Gross picked off QB Cook and brought it all the way, 63 yards for the score, 21-17 Rice. Miami would tack on a field goal before the start of the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter would make everyone's ticket worth while. Miami would have a chance to take the lead, but fell inches short on a FG. With the ball and about 2 minutes left, Rice was ready to burn the clock. Instead, they would find McGuffie on an option, taking it 39 yards for the score, 28-20 Rice with a minute to play. Miami knew they were not out of it. QB Dysert would stage a 97 yard TD drive, capping it off with a 41 yard TD pass to Harwell with 23 secs left. They would complete the 2-point conversion and the game would be headed to OT. Not so fast....Rice wanted to end it in regulation, and they did just that, except for the other team. QB Cook would throw an interception to Veazie who took it 35 yards for the go ahead and game winning TD, 35-28 Miami.Key Stats:QB Cook-17 of 29 for 325 YDs 1 TD 4 INTsQB Dysert-14 of 23 for 269 YDs 2 TDsHB McGuffie-19 attempts for 119 YDs 2 TDsHB Lawson- 16 attempts for 96 YDsWR Moore- 3 receptions 85 YDs TDWR Harwell- 2 receptions 64 YDs TDCB Veazie-5 tackles 2 INTs 1 TD
WOW - what a finish. I imagine a controller went flying across the room at T2's house?
Im not so sure about flying controllers, but we were both on mic and there was some vulgarity
im throwing these results out... : D
Do it, I'll beat you again.
Jayhawks get RockedCSU goes up early to win 23-10
On a bright and sunny day in Jayhawk land, Kansas was looking forward to a better and brighter furture with Coach Bobjr at the helm. The game was a defensive struggle, that saw the Jayhawks make too many mistakes down the stretch to lose the game. With the game sitting at 3-0 and in the second quarter, Colorado State quarterback Pete Thomas started to get hot. He would carry that through the game finishing with a perfect 11/11 on the afternoon. Apparently with a new coach on board the team didn't get the pregame message about covering the two standout wide receivers. With two guys basically stuck in the mud, Colorado was able to go up 17-0 before halftime and they never looked back. Both running games were extremely stagnant on the afternoon. The Jayhawks would fumble the ball with 2:00 to go and the score 17-10, this would set up the game clinching FG. 23-10 would be your final.
GG Mike, it was a pleasure and I look forward to next season.
Plus the fact that Mcguffie ran for 119 yrds in the game, he only got 24 vs the warriors.
Oklahoma State 34 Hawaii 10The Cowboys' entire O-line played outstanding today, creating huge holes in the run gameHawaiiOklahoma State kicked off their season with a trip to Hawaii to face the 0-1 Warriors. Coming into this game Oklahoma State knew that Hawaii had shut out a great running back in their first game, but were confident that they could find more success in the run game than Rice did the previous week. The Cowboys won the toss and elected to receive, and went on a methodical drive that ended with Travis Miller running it in from 2 yards out, 7-0 Cowboys. Hawaii would go on a good drive of their own, but had to settle for a field goal try that was missed by their anorexic kicker who can't kick to save his own life. That's how the first quarter would end with Oklahoma State up 7-0.In the 2nd Ok State would add 10 more points, first off a 20 yard field goal by Jesse Weber, then on a 8 yard pass to David Paulsen the fullback from Johnny Deaton. 17-0 Cowboys. Hawaii were able to get on the board late in the quarter thanks to a fumble recovery by the Hawaii defense that gave them great field position, and Kevin Spain took full advantage, finding Bubba Poueu Luna for a 29 yard score to bring the Warriors within 10 at the break.Oklahoma State added to their lead in the 3rd on a trick play (highlight available on hub). Hoping that the Hawaii defense would sell out on the run, the ball was pitched to the right to running back Travis Miller, who took a step to the right and fired a rocket to Justin Horton who was able to make the catch for a 29 yard score to put the Cowboys up 24-7. Asked about the throw after the game Miller jokingly said: "that was probably the best throw of the entire game for us". As he looked over to Deaton and gave him a soft punch to the shoulder.Hawaii would narrow the lead later in the 3rd off a 32 yard field goal to bring the score to 24-10 Cowboys after 3.Oklahoma State would add 10 more points in the final quarter of play, first off another field goal, this one from 20 yards out, then Travis Miller took a hand off on the counter play and broke a couple tackles to take it to the house for a 48 yard field goal. Final Score, 34-10.Oklahoma State Cowboys Player of the Game:HB Travis Miller: 25 carries, 166 yards, 2 TDs. 1 reception, 18 yards. 1/1 passing, 29 yards, 1 TD.GG Bama!! Best of Luck rest of the season, sure you will bounce back!
Difference being, Miami(OH) won, Hawaii didn't
AZTECS GET THUMPED!
Its not like me to not save highlights, but I was choked at how badly UCLA kicked my butt. I couldn't stop a thing on defense and my run game has not been any easier with the addition of a talent like Sofeli.
I am going to expirement with some different formations and try to get some more short passes and outside runs going with the agile Sofeli, wish me luck!
Oklahoma State 31 Wyoming 10
The Cowboys were on the road again this week as they faced #14 Wyoming. Coming off their win in Hawaii, the Cowboys were looking forward to this one to see how they matched up with one of the elite teams in the nation. The Cowboys lost the toss and were forced to receive, and after a lengthy first drive were forced into settling for a 28 yard field goal. Wyoming came out on their first drive and tried to run on 1st down but were stuffed by the Cowboys defense, then on 2nd down Samuels dropped back to pass but the Cowboy defense was ready for it as they intercepted the ball, giving Johnny Deaton and the Ok State offense great field position. They would capitalize on the turnover thanks to a 5 yard pass from Deaton to tight end Quinton Long to give the Cowboys the 10-0 lead after 1.Wyoming would get on the board with 2:43 left in the half as Ian Watts nailed a 31 yard field goal but with 11 seconds left in the half Oklahoma State were able to add to their 7 point lead as Deaton found Tracy Moore on a quick slant for 11 yards. On the play, the Wyoming defender looked to be in perfect position to at least bat the ball down, but he must have been distracted by seeing himself on the jumbo-tron as he seemingly allowed Moore to make the grab and give the Cowboys the 17-3 lead heading into halftime.Ok State would add 14 unanswered in the 3rd, first Johnny Deaton used the playaction pass to get the secondary to bite before hitting Quinton Long for his second receiving touchdown of the day, this one for 17 yards. Then Deaton would add his 4th passing touchdown of the day as he found Justin Blackmon down the left sideline on 3rd and long as he was able to break away from the defense and take it in for a 86 yard catch and run, 31-3 Oklahoma State after 3 quarters of play. The 4th quarter was quiet in terms of scoring, as Wyoming got the only points thanks to a 29 yard fumble return by free safety Larry Mitchell when 2nd string HB Jeremy Smith was fighting for a 1st down on 3rd and 3. Not much happened after that, although Wyoming did get in position to score with about 2 minutes left in the game before Samuels was sacked, causing him to fumble the ball which was recovered by the Oklahoma State defense, and after a run for a first down Deaton was able to take a couple of kneel downs with the final score of 31-10 for Oklahoma State. Next week the Cowboys stay on their wacky road show to start the season as they travel to face Miami University.
Hawaii Gets their Revenge on La. Tech.
The Warriors thought about this game since their OT Loss last yr in Ruston, It was on the Minds of everyone as the week drew to a close and Saturday Came. Then the Game started and The Hawaii Warriors got their revenge Winning 34-17. Hawaii started hot as on the 1st drive drove down and kicked a fg for a 3-0 lead. Then a fumble on the KO and Hawaii was in business again, This time the drive ended in 7 as Hawaii's Spain threw to his TE and it was 10-0. Then 2 more Td passes by spain and it was 24-0, Then Spain on 2 seperate occasions threw 2 picks and only 1 of those led to Bulldog points and La. Tech kicked a fg to trim the lead to 24-3 at the Half. CoachGrad stressed to his players to finish strong as they did not last yr. Then Hawaii opened the 2nd Half with a fantastic drive and it ended with a Td pass from Spain again (his 4th of the game) and Hawaii extended their lead 31-3. Then La.Tech rallied for 2 TD in the 2nd Half, But with QB Cameron nursing injuries and Backup Burch getting the same abuse There was no rally for Tech this yr. Hawaii kicked a FG to close the scoring at 34-17 and Get their revenge.
Spain threw for 4 td and had 3 picks and 303 yrds and was the player of the game.
Hawaii evens their record to 2-2 and Get San Jose St next.
Jayhawk'dKansas goes to Lincoln and steals a victory, 21-20
On a gloomy day in Lincoln, the Kansas Jayhawks survived a huge Big 12 North matchup. The Jayhawks would play stingy defense in the first half, forcing two fumbles. One of which was scooped up by Jayhawk LB Steve Measton. Measton would rumble 46 yards for the opening score. Then after a few back and forth three and outs by both offenses, the Jayhawk defense would strike again...forcing a fumble after a QB scramble. WR Erick McGriff would score on a 20 yard bullet thrown by QB Ashton Glaser. This would put the Jayhawks up 14-0 at the half.
The second half was a completely different story. The Cornhuskers decided to finally show up in this matchup and would score on a 72 yard run. But the Kicker would fail them missing the extra point. 14-6 at the end of three. The fourth quarter began with a 2 yard TD Run by Nebraska transfer Tray Robinson, to make the score 21-6. The Cornhuskers wouldn't quit on the afternoon, and would score two more touchdowns on the afternoon. The last one being a 13 yard rush by the wide receiver. The score was 21-20 at this point....and then....the unthinkable happens....the Nebraska kicker fails the Cornhuskers again....Kansas escapes with a huge victory in the North...
RedHawks Set Sights on MAC Title Miami 37 BallSt 16Miami(OH) took on the Ball State Cardinal in MAC play and took care of business. After a less than perfect OOC season, the 1-2 RedHawks were looking to make noise in the MAC Conference. The two opponents would compete with each other in the first quarter, but Miami(OH) would pull away in the 2nd, taking a 21-10 lead to the half. It was on from there, as Miami scored again to take a 28-10 lead. They would score one more TD and pick off Ball State's 2-point conversion attempt, to seal the game for the Red. Next up for Miami, a meeting with UAB.
Wyoming wins at Idaho in a defensive battle. Idaho qb couldnt hit wrs or tes that were open and probably couldnt hit a barn in this one. It was nothing but a offensive nightmare for both teams. Only one td was scored in this one and it was an 87yd punt return for a td. Other than that it was a fg kicking and defensive battle as Wyoming wins 16-6 @ Idaho.
Wyoming faces BYU next week
Wyoming has an easy victory against BYU kinda. Wyoming was up 42-13 at halftime and was on cruise control with the starters being taken out well Byu would cut it to 42-34 with 3 minutes to go and the starters were brought back in to close out the game but Samuels goes out for 4 weeks on this drive a very costly injury
San Diego State could not stop the Ross attack of Rice. Although the Aztecs hung in for a good chunk of the game, Rice slowly and surely pulled away. The Aztec offense could not get moving, there was too much pressure on the quarterback and with Clark's favourite receiving target on the shelf for 7 weeks [Sandifier] SDSU could not cope.
Defense continues to be an issue for the Aztecs.
