UNLV loses a heartbreaker at home. The young Rebel offense came out with a new offensive style this year and it showed with many mistakes. 2 key turnovers by Senior QB Nick Sherry proved to be one of the factors that lost the game for UNLV. In the first quarter he throws a backward pass to a man who is completely covered and the ball is fumbled (I thought the X receiver was triangle lol) leading to a FIU touchdown. Then later in the 3rd quarter he completely overthrew a wide open receiver right into the hands of a FIU DB for an INT. UNLV completely dominated FIU in the offensive category but had 3 turnovers, and you can't win the game if you turn the ball over. The panthers were completely shut down in the 2nd half and it looks like UNLV had some momentum, and on a 4th and goal it was decision time. Coach Bubba Gump said we had been holding them we'll defensively so we took the 3 and planned to get the ball back, but that was out of the question as FIU is able to run out the clock. There were signs of brilliance in Gump's new option offense. SO HB Keith Watkins took a pitch for a 50 yard TD run, and backup JR QB Jared Lebowitz had a 53 yard scamper on a keeper. With UNLV's FB being a freshman, and 2 SO HB and 1 JR HB, Coach Gump is going to stick with the new offense. He just has to limit the turnovers. The 10-3 Rebels from last year start 0-2 and look forward to crushing Air Force next week.
Tulane's bye week is going great as they prepare for MTSU next week. Lol
The Bulldogs barely got by Auburn in overtime. Auburn lost on as their 37 Yd FG attempt sailed wide right, the kick would have sent the game into a second overtime.
