Wasn't McNutt your top WR last season? How is he at QB?
#25 TCU 24
#6 South Florida 42
With TCU returning the opening kickoff, it looked like the route was on. Piling up 24 1st quarter points on 2 BJ Daniels INT's TCU came out hot. However, South Florida did not hit the panic button as the ground game paid dividends and they came out the victors in the end, 42-24. Coach Scarecrow cannot afford a slow start next week against highly touted Coach Hippo and the Golden Gophers.
QB Y. Gallegos 9-25 151 yds, 1 TD/2 INT's
RB E. Wesley 10 carries 19 yds, 1 TD
WR S. Dawson 1 reception 66 yds, 1 TD
South Florida Notables
QB BJ Daniels 21-37 239 yds, 2 TD's/3 INT's
RB Demetris Murray 34 carries 129 yds, 2 TD's
WR Ed Alcin 6 receptions 83 yds, 1 TD
Minnesota - 28
Washington - 7
This was a disgusting, defensive game. If it were on TV I would have likely changed the channel, caught the highlights on SportsCenter, and thought to myself "Glad I didn't watch that shit". There was less than 400 yards of total offense in this game and the game was much closer than the score makes it seem. I have to give Emit lots of credit for playing a really good game (1st TF game I believe). He is a good player, and I think once he has a full year of recruiting his type of players, he will morph the Huskies into a national power. Hopefully we can get a home and home, so next year Emit can shoot for some payback @ Minnesota.
Texas A&M 17
South Carolina 14
A&M manages to win a game that neither team really wanted. 6 combined INT's for the two teams and just sloppy play all around (Aggie receivers dropped about 8 passes). Not a great start for the new starting QB Tannehill as he had a rating of about 60 for the game and threw a pick that could have cost the team the game with about 1 minute to go in the 4th. South Carolina's defense had me stumped all game.
Clemson gets trounced in the opening week by a very good CU team. A terrible game by Clemson QB Kyle Parker as he threw 2 picks, had two fumbles (1 lost), and was sacked 4 times. Colorado pounded the ball to the tune of 169 rushing yards and 3 TDs and had a very effecient passing game.
Good game uncleho! Probably the best game my team has played in 2+ seasons. QB Tyler Hansen was 20/24 for 183 and 3 scores, a great way for him to return after missing all of last season. The Buffs host the Orangemen next week.
Wake Forest: 21
The Cuse gets a big road win to open up the season. The new west coast offense that was installed is looking pretty good for the Orange. QB Pat Patterson played well although he had some miscues (3 INT which were all balls I never should have thrown). The line gave up 4 sacks but did open up some good running lanes. Big game next week against Colorado.
P. Patterson - 15/32, 209 yds, 1 td, 3 int
A. Bailey - 28 att, 87 yds, 2 td
P. Patterson - 9 att, 23 yds
M. Jones - 4 att, 21 yds
R. Harwell - 3 rec, 49 yds
V. Chew - 4 rec, 38 yds, game winning td
R. Gillum - 9 tackles, 1 tfl, 1 int
Stanford: 31 Ole Miss: 10
The Rebel offense was shut down by the Cards defense. QB Nathan Stanley had a horrible game as the TE Ferbia Allen was shadowed all game and finished 9-23 for 120 yards, 0 TDs, and 3 picks. Enrique Davis came back from his season ending injury to rush 17 times for 81 yards and Branden Bolden scored on a short td run. The play of the game, imho was a long pass play to Patterson for 61 yards and was caught inside the 10. Stanley then threw a pick in the EZ to end the threat.
Great job Beazus! The 4-2-5 was strong.
The D played well, especially Craig Drummond, who had 9 tackles, 4 tfl and 3 sacks.
