Red Raiders Shock # 5 NebraskaOn Saturday the college football world was in shock. For the second time this season the unranked Red Raiders stopped a top 10 team. In what was a great battle the Red Raider defense would be the story of the game. In a back and forth battle the crowd helped the Red Raider defense cause chaos for the Nebraska quarterback. The Red Raiders would get a season high 3 interceptions and 2 of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns. Coach Sabo had this to say after the game"Im so happy right now with the way my guys are playing. Once again the deck was stacked against us and once again we stood up to the challenge. This is only a stepping stone to what I set as our season goals. At the begining of the season everyone counted us out after last years final record. I saw alot of talent in this group of guys and thats why i accepted the job. We will be a contender for the Big 12 title mark my words.
damn nice win sabo!
Yeah great win Sabo, that should boost you pretty high into the top 25.
Thanks guys. That was a huge win for my team.
Coach Texasfight starts off good in Dallas.
The Pony's triple option attack was firing on all cylinders today, but they just couldnt find the endzone and had some careless turnovers. we had 3 fumbles and 1 pick. The defense wich has struggled throughout the year played lights out giving up only 14 points. The Pony backfield consist of Zach line at right slot Darryl Fields at left slot Billy Dugal at Fullback, and Stephen Kaiser at the QB position. Coach Texas Fight is very optimistic about this team he feels with the right effot and attitud these boys can go along way. The win today makes SMU 4-2 on the year and 3-0 in conference USA play. Next week SMU travels to Lubbock to face off against coach Saboos 4-1 Texas Tech Red Raiders, it will be a tough matchup for the Mustangs.

Cavaliers Demolish Another Opponent
The Virginia Cavaliers Pulled Away in the 4th Quarter to Down Coference Foe NC State
Virginia 34 vs. NC State 7
The Virginia Cavaliers took down NC State by 27 points this weekend, their defense was again impenetrable. "Our offense was less than lackluster this week," said Coach E "Luckily our D stepped up again and propelled us to another victory" The Cavaliers are now 6-0 on the season and boast a 3-0 conference record in the ACC.
The Cavalier offense had its fair share of struggles in its Week 6 matchup vs. the Wolfpack in Raleigh. Quarterback Michael Strauss was only completed only 9 of 25 passes for 122 yards and a TD. Halfback Heisman hopeful Torrey Mack ran the ball 14 times for 60 yards and a TD.
On the defensive end, DT Will Hill recorded his 8th sack of the season. The Cavalier defense also recorded two more defensive touchdowns, an interception coming from OLB Ausar Walcott and a fumble recovery for a TD from Bobby Smith.
The Cavaliers face their most challenging opponent next week when they host #25 Miami.
ECU 28 UTEP 17
In week 6 ECU were on the road, hoping to build on their blowout win over Southern Miss at home last week but knew they were in for a tough one as they visited a UTEP team that was hungry for a win. However, the ECU defense came to play today (for the most part) and were able to help their team keep UTEP out of the endzone for long enough to preserve the victory. The day started out very well for ECU as they raced out to a 21 nothing lead in the 1st half thanks to two Brad Wornick passes (one to Richardson for 21 yards, another to Julius Jones for 5) sandwiching a 1 yard Brown run. UTEP were able to get on the board with 7 seconds left in the half thanks to a Warren 32 yard field goal.
Down 21-3 at the beginning of the 3rd UTEP hoped they could cut into the lead as they would receive the ball, what happened however was a turn for the worse as their return man fumbled the ball, which was returned by true freshman MLB Smith for a 22 yard fumble return for a TD. Down 28-3 UTEP kept fighting and wouldn't give up, but they weren't able to score until the 4th quarter, as with 3:41 left in the game Siegel found Frye for a 4 yard score to make the score 21-10. After failing to recover the onside kick UTEP were able to hold ECU without any points as their kicker missed his 2nd field goal of the day, and UTEP were able to drive down the field and score yet again, this time with 52 seconds left on the clock as Siegel found Jordan for a 14 yard pass. Dwn 28-17, UTEP would again fail to recover the onside kick, and ECU were able to take a couple knees to end the game and push their season record to 4-2, (2-0) while UTEP drops to 2-4 on the season.
GG DZSUMMES3!! Best of Luck Rest of the Season
ECU PLAYER STATS:
QB Brad Wornick: 9-13, 161 yards, 2 TDs.
HB M. Brown: 25 carries, 124 yards, 1 TD.
WR T. Richardson: 4 catches, 108 yards, 1 TD.
DE M. Byrd: 4 solo tackles, (2 for loss) 1 sack.
Good game Zikry. You had some smothering defense and I couldnt do a thing on offense. That kickoff to start the 3rd quarter was the nail in the coffin! Good luck the rest of the year, we look forward to playing you next season.
Mississippi State edges Tennessee, Wins 35-27
In a game where defense was optional, the Bulldogs scored just enough to win against the Volunteers. "Defense? What defense? Let's talk about our offense...oh boy, that was a very efficient performance," said an excited coach nrg_qbz. "We've really responded after that loss to LSU. It is night and day." QB Tyler Russell completed 12 of 14 passes 219 yards while HB Shawne Alston ran 31 times for 214 yards and 4TD's. "Shawne was amazing today. We kept giving him the ball and he kept running in there picking up first downs," said Russell. "He really destroyed their will out there." Mississippi State would score the first two TD's of the game, and from that point, the two sides would alternate TD's until the final whistle. However, the Volunteers had a chance to tie the game on their final drive. Despite giving up huge plays all game long, the Bulldogs played their best defense when it mattered. With the ball on their 25 yard line, MSU stopped Tennesee on a 3rd and 1 before sacking the opposing QB on the next down. Game...set...match. "A win is a win. We'll take it," said Alston.
Tulsa 17Marshall 14This rematch between Tulsa and marshall was a defensive battle throughout the game. Marshall struck first with a 80 yard bomb that set up a 1 yard touchdown run, their kicker would miss the extra point attempt. Tulsa's offense could not get anything going in the first quarter drive after drive ended in punts. Tulsa would finally find the endzone in the second quarter when Marshall kick returner took a big hit that knocked the ball out for cornerback holley too get the scoop and score touchdown to give Tulsa a 7-6 lead that stood through halftime. The two teams exchanged punts on their first couple drives in the third quarter then Marshall got their second touchdown of the game with a one yard touchdown run late in the third. Marshall went for the two point conversion and where successful. About midway through the fourth quarter Tulsa put together a great drive that ended with an 8 yard touchdown by runningback D.Nelson that tied the game. Tulsa's defense was able too force Marshall too punt with just under two minutes left in the game. Quarterback S.Beaver orcistrated a brilliant two minute drive that ran the clock out and set up a game winning fieldgoal by T.Clay.
Lobos 28 Air Force Falcons 23
In a game that was dominated by Air Force between the 20's, the Lobos would notched the win due to turnovers. The Lobos defense would be able to contain the Air Force attack, even though Air Force would hold the ball for the majority of the game. The Lobo offense was not on point for most of the day, but QB Darian Godfrey would put together a great day, passing for 164yds and 2tds. The key to the game would be the Lobo defense creating opportunities and stone walling the Falcon offense in the redzone. Falcon QB Chris Deitz would throw for 344yds and 3tds, but his two mistakes, an interception returned for a Lobo score and a late fumble would halt promising Falcon drives. Air Force would still not go down without a fight, as it took a onside kick recovery that was fumbled initially then recovered by the Lobos to seal the game.
Lobo Game Stats
D. Godfrey 13-18 164yds 2tds
K. Carrier 11car 45yds 1td
T. Kirk 2rec 55yds 1tds
