    Troy 48-14 Middle Tennessee State

    Battle for the Palladium=DOMINATION!

Levi Brown celebrates his 70-yard touchdown pass to Chip Reeves

Led by Player of the Game Levi Brown, the Troy Trojans take it to rival Middle Tennessee State 48-14. Troy forced the Blue Raiders into a 3 and out, then on their first offensive play from scrimmage, Brown hit wideout Chip Reeves on a corner route that went for a 70-yard touchdown to set the tone for the day. Middle Tennessee State would hang in for awhile when Tavarres Jefferson's 15-yard touchdown cut the score to 17-14, but then Troy would score the next 31 points to win going away. Brown threw for 402 yards and 4 touchdowns, while freshman running back Shawn Southward had his best game of the season rushing for 87 yards on 33 carries, he also caught 2 passes for 59 yards including a 53-yard touchdown.

Troy improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in Sun Belt play. Up next for the Trojans, visit the 1-2 (0-1) Florida International Golden Panthers.

    SMU vs ECU

SMU takes down East Carolina 35-14, but continues to stuggle with turnovers and sacks. Starting QB Mitchell was lost for three weeks due to the berating ECU put on him. 8 sacks were given up altogether with most coming from defensive linemen who were simply unblocked. Unacceptable. ECU was held to just 165 yds of total offense as SMU's 3-4 defense is really starting to shutdown offenses. ECU scored their td's of 2 pick 6's. SMU probably has given up more td's to opposing defenses than offenses.
On the bright side, SMU's running game is showing signs of life and the backs are starting to bring some life into the passing game as well.
