#17 Stanford vs Hawaii

Stanford goes to Hawaii and has a great time, on and off the field. The off the field occurences are for another day. Stanford came out from the opening kick-off and set the tone for the entire game. The Cardinals force a fumble on the openng kick return and turned the short field into a td, Stanford lead 7-0 with 6:35 left in first qtr.

After a 3 and out from Hawaii, Stanford again took the ball and drove it down Hawaii's throat as Andrew Luck hit baldwin and a crossing route to go up 14-0, 1:30 into the game. On the very next possession, Hawaii would hit a wide open Bradley for an 82 yd td pass. They missed the extra point, but cut the lead to 14-6.

That was the closes Hawaii would get as Stanford would score 24 more first half points to go into the half 38-6. All starters were pulled and the clock was ran out to seal the win for The Cardinals.

    Troy Outlasts North Texas

Southward scores a 3rd quarter touchdown

North Texas jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter after Levi Brown threw 2 of his 4 interceptions, the 2nd one returned 56 yards for a touchdown. Although things looked grim for the Trojans, they continued to fight. 2 minutes after the pick 6, Brown hit wide receiver D Taylor for a 30-yard touchdown strike to bring Troy to within 7 at the end of the 1st quarter.

The 2nd quarter saw only 10 points scored with North Texas pushing their lead to 17-7 when J Knott kicked a 46-yard field goal with 2:33 to go in the half. The Mean Green defense to this point had been giving Troy fits with Brown looking awful. It appeared the Trojans dream of an undefeated conference season seemed to be slipping away, but with just :10 left in the half, Brown hit Marcum for a 23-yard touchdown to get them to within 3 at the half, 17-14.

The 2nd half began with Brown's woes continuing as he threw his 3rd interception and 2nd pick 6 of the day to put North Texas back up by 10 at 24-14. The Trojans would respond with a nice 1:40 drive culminating with Shawn Southward scoring his 1st of 2 touchdowns on the day, punching it in from 1 yard out. The Trojan defense did not allow North Texas to score any points with its offense the entire 2nd half, which was the difference in the game. S Glusman would kick a 32-yard field goal to tie the game at 24, then on the ensuing kickoff, the Trojans would jar the ball loose and B McKissic would scoop it up and rumble 21 yards into the endzone to give Troy their 1st lead of the day. The 4th quarter would see Troy milking the clock with Southward, who would score a 7-yard touchdown and gain 100 yards on the day to earn Player of the Game honors.

Troy improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in Sun Belt play. Next week, University of Louisiana-Monroe comes to town.

    Defensive Battle

SMU and Houston two high powered Offensive teams play a huge defensive battle. with only 1 TD scored in the first half, you know it was a low scoring affair, not to mention that it was a defensive TD that put Houston on the board with a 7-0 lead.

after that there were a few fieldgoals until the 4th quarter, with Houston up 10-6, this happened.

That put SMU up 13-10, then on the ensuing drive Houston drove down the field which led to this.

That turned out to be the game winning TD as Houston defensive stepped up again to stop SMU in the redzone in the dying seconds to preserve the Win.
    Houston 17 - SMU 13

It was a Great Game, Houston moves to 5-2 on the year

I was going to post the stats to our game but cant seem to get logged into psn. damn it. anyway it was an awesome game in which both offenses couldnt muster more than 1 or 2 1st downs per drive before a turnover or punt. SMU's offensive line was once again horrific. I had no time to let routes develop and all soldier rushed was 3 or 4 all game.

The Toledo Rockets battled through a good team and opponent with a thrilling victory over Army. Coach Jam ran the option with Army better than most and QB Steelman had a hell of a day. The Toldeo defense gameplanned all week and found a way to muffle Steelman, but it did not work as planned. The defense adjusted and the offense stepped up. Toledo came tough early and took the bullets out of Army's guns, put intended. Army would not be done and answered back. Steelman proved to be a very talented playmaker and Toledo counts their blessings as they were able to win this game.

The Toledo offense was led by Aaron Opelt who had an astonishing day with 419 yards passing on 31 completions with 41 attempts, throwing 5 TDs. His #1,#2,#3 targets were Robin Bailey, Ken Stafford, and Stephen Williams. Stephen Williams caught 6 passes for 130 yards with 2 TDs, while Bailey and Stafford caught 7 for 88 and 75 yards, both with a TD. The rush game was used more to keep the Army defense off balance with Dujuane Collins rushing for 60 yards on 14 carries.

The Toledo defense was led by phenom Linebacker Barry Church who had 8 tackles, 5 TFL. CB Richmond and Best added a combined 13 tackles in the secondary with 1 interception. LB Brudzinski and SS Westbrook added 1 sack for each and the only ones for the game.

Toledo springs the ball loose and runs back a fumble on a late game kickoff.

The Toledo Rockets (7-1,4-0) want to continue their win streak as they have a tough MAC schedule left with games at Miami, at Central Michigan, home against Eastern Michigan, and at Bowling Green. If they win out they will play in the MAC title game which could possibly be another rematch with Army.
