Aggie Bowl 2013Aggie RB Ben Malena celebrates after returning the 2nd half opening kickoff 100 yards for a score
New Mexico State Aggies: 21
Texas A&M Aggies: 44
College Station, TX- The Texas A&M Aggies kicked off the 2013 with a bang, downing the New Mexico State Aggies at home by 23 points. After surrendering an opening drive touchdown to New Mexico State, the starting defense looked stable. New Mexico State finished the day with 284 yards passing, 23 yards rushing and 3 TDs.
The Aggie running game looked explosive, as starting RB DJ Jones was able to rack up 103 yards and a TD in 3 quarters of play. Backup RB Ben Malena stole the show after returning the opening kickoff in the 2nd half back 100 yards for a touchdown. Malena averaged 39 yards per return on the day. Junior QB Jameill Showers played well in his first career start, raiding the New Mexico State secondary for 302 yards and 2 TDs, while adding another 35 yards and a score on the ground.
The Aggies hit the road next week to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Southwest Classic rivalry game.
Florida falls in triple OT to rival Canes.
Let the fire coachsdid22.com sites pop up. Once again the Gators looked about half cocked in a season opener. The Gator offense was erractic and turnover prone. Blake Wallace threw for two scores both coming in overtime and threw two picks 1 ending the game. The Gator defense played well, forcing 5 turnovers but the pathetic effort by Trey Burton stalled the offense.
Notable stats Matt Elam FR TD
Eric O'Donnell first career INT
Jonathan Dowing 2 INT's
Jelani Jenkins 10 tackles 1 sack FF

Near upset in Death ValleyFans in Baton Rouge aren't happy with LSU's 2013 debut.Fans are not too happy with LSU's season debut as they underperformed for much of the 1st half and almost suffered an upset at home to Colorado State. Joseph Stewart scored LSU's 9 nine points, yes that's right, the kicker. He missed one that gave some momentum to the Rams. Probably the biggest play of the game was right before half, down 7-3, Eric Reid picked off the Rams QB which allowed us to run the clock out and regather ourselves.Spencer Ware would finally get a touchdown for the Tigers to give us some breathing room. CSU would come back to tag on 3 points. After that, Zach Lee showed why he is being hyped so much about his leadership and abilities as he threw a bomb to Kadron Boone in the end zone to put us up 22-10. We missed the 2 point conversion. Colorado State looked to be marching again when we got a pick six that went 71 yards by Ronnie Vinson which sealed the deal, 29-10.Zach Lee went 14-21 for 219 yards and 1 touchdown. Spencer Ware was the work horse of the day running 22 times for 99 yards and 1 touchdown while Jakhari Gore, who was injured for 1 quarter ran 4 times for 34 yards. Kadron Boone was Lee's main target and will look to play the role of Reuben or Russell from last year. He caught 5 passes for 105 yards and 1 touchdown.
Damn, some good games sofar this week! Can't wait to play!

Wow, an uncomfortably close game with Rice leaves Baylor searching for answers. The Baylor Bears came into this game ranked 9th. Their defense played incredibly well, generating two interceptions and 4 red zone stops. In four redzone attempts, the Owls were only able to come away with 9 points. The other attempt ended on a great interception by MLB Chris McAllister. The offense moved the ball, on the ground and in the air, but was not able to put up points with regularity. A crucial pick 6 suffered late in the fourth quarter got Rice close, but the Baylor defense came up with the stops and secured the game for the home crowd. A much cleaner game is going to be needed from the offense if they want to continue to win this season. The Bears barely ward off the hungry Owls, 21-16.
What a start for the Missouri Tigers. A 38-19 victory over Wyoming. ....recap and pics coming tomorrow after work
Iowa RB Marcus Coker breaks a tackle but it isn't enough to defeat Pitt.#10 IOWA: 21PITT: 38The #10 Iowa Hawkeyes 0-1 (0-0) lose a season opening heartbreaker to Pitt. The Hawks jumped out to a quick 14 point lead but then fell quickly behind as Pitt scored 31 unanswered points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. The run defense proved to be a big disappointment as Pitt rushed for over 250 yards on the Hawks. Big changes will need to be made in order to prevent this in the future. On a positive note, after 3 seasons on the bench, Marcus Coker is now getting the majority of carries. He had 21 for 102 yards with 2 TD's which is a career high. He is a big strong kid who we expect to see pounding out the tough yards for the Hawks. The Hawk defense was led by MLB Phillip Robinson who was selected to the Freshmen All American team as a True Freshmen. He had 8 tackles on the day, with 7 solo. DT Jacob Reisen had the only Hawkeye sack of the day with an added 3 tackles. The Iowa Hawkeyes 0-1 (0-0) have a lot to think about as they head to Ames next week to take on rival Iowa State.
JR Running Back Marcus Coker has an explosive day, leading the Hawks to a 35-23 win over the Cyclones.#21 IOWA: 35IOWA STATE: 23The #21 Iowa Hawkeyes 1-1 (0-0) won a very tough matchup against rival Iowa State. Both teams came out with high intensity and matched eachother's scores, with Iowa State taking the lead at half 21-17. The Iowa defense shut down the Cyclones in the second half, while continuing to post productive drives to solidify the win. JR RB Marcus Coker had a career day, rushing for 159 yards on 27 carries with 3 TD's. RSFR Quentin Stratton showed Hawkeye fans why he was the #1 RB recruit in the nation two years ago with his stellar 15 carry for 137 yard performance. SO QB Chuck Stephens has had a rough first couple games but Coach Frisk has the confidence he will settle in nicely. Stephens completed 6 of 15 passes for 153 yards with a TD.The Hawkeye defense swarmed this evening as LB's Jim Poggi and Phillip Robinson combined for 16 tackles and 5 TFL. DT Jacob Reisen recorded his 2nd sack of the season while adding two tackles and CB BJ Lowery recorded the first interception of the season in addition to his 6 tackles. The #21 Iowa Hawkeyes 1-1 (0-0) will host T2express and the Cornhuskers next week as they look to deal a dick womping.
Overpowering LSU tops TCU in convincing fashion, 27-10.LSU took it to their 2nd opponent of the year and handed them a 27-10 loss. Zack Lee would find Steve Jones for a 51 yard score to the flats on a blitz. TCU would add some points in the second quarter by way of a 49 yard field goal. After that, it would be all LSU. TCU's QB could not get it done going 14-22 for only 135 yards and 1 touchdown with 2 interceptions. Zack Lee on the other hand ended up 11-14 for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns. Spencer Ware had 101 rushing yards on 22 attempts. Steve Jones had 2 catches for 109 yards and the 1 touchdown catch. Kadron Boone led the team in receptions with 4 for 55 yards. On defense, we played great forcing 2 interceptions and gang tackling.Next week, we get the luxury of traveling to Kyle Field to face off with hackgolfer and his Texas A&M Aggies.
Off to the RacesMizzou runs over and through Wyoming, 38-19
Junior Quarterback Tyler Gabbert started his season in spectacular fashion. Gabbert had pinpoint accuracy on a day where the skies opened up. Gabbert would not only complete 14/16 passes but he threw for three TDs. Jaleel Clark caught two touchdowns and Kerwin Stricker caught the other. The big surprise for Missouri was the running game and the defense. In college football you must stop the run and you must run the ball to win. Well, the Tigers accomplished both during their week 1 battle. The Missouri defense forced three turnovers, and held the Wyoming Cowboys to under 100 yards rushing. The two back tandem of James Franklin and Martin Glasco gained over 180 yards with each getting 17 carries. However, the star of the game was the Mizzou legend. Franklin carried for over 100 yards and scored twice in his debut at the halfback position. Hopefully this game was the start of something special for the Missouri Tigers.
High-Scoring AffairWildcats walk away victorious on an all-offensive dayJaamal Berry runs away from Mountaineer defenders for his lone TD
Kentucky was able to get off to another fast start as the Cats forced West Virginia on a three and out and sequentially marched down the field and Freshman Terrance Davis capped off the drive with a 6 yard rushing TD.The next drive WV QB Brunetti hit a WR on a quick pass and Neolms would force a fumble and Derrick Lott would pick it up and rumble 46 yards for the score. Kentucky would play stout defense the next series and would get the ball back to start the 2nd quarter. Mountaineers would come on a blitz and Brause would stay calm and hit Shawn Turner over the middle and he would race the remaining 46 yards for a 21-0 lead.
West Virginia wouldn't lay down as they forced there way back down the field and scored off a 22 yard pass from Brunetti to Reese, 21-7. WV forced UK to a 3rd and long and Brause would find Foster coming across the middle after Brause avoided a sack and then Foster would break a tackle and walk into the endzone. West Virginia would answer by marching down the field but come up short with a fumble on the one yard line but would turn it into points as they tackled Berry for a safety. WV hit another big play before going into half with a 37 yard TD to cut the lead to 28-16.
Kentucky would only get three points out of the third quarter and West Virginia would score on a 57 yard pass but the XP failed that cut the lead 31-22.
Trey Johnson opened up the 4th quarter for WV with a 29 yard rush and chipped into the lead 31-29 Cats. Kentucky would come back and give the ball back to Jaamal Berry with two lead blockers hit a crease and scored on from 39 yards out, pushing the lead back to double digits. Kentucky would get a Mansour 25 yard field goal to extend the lead and with 40 seconds left WV would cut the lead to 5, 41-36 but couldn't secure the onsides kick. The Cats would fall to 4th down and make sure they went up 8 points with 5 seconds left to close out the Mountaineers.

Gators knock off BCS runner up USF in a rainy Swamp.
The Florida Gators nothced their first win of the season over the USF Bulls. The Gators used the big play from their wide receivers who were able to torch man coverage to set up short fields and touchdowns. Blake Wallace only completed 9 passes but they went for nearly 300 yards. The Gator defense used big plays from all hands on deck to control a game that would see the Gator offense give up almost more points than the defense (16-20). Eric O'Donnell had 2 picks both deep in the redzone to prevent USF scores, 1 he took back for a score. Jonathan Dowling grabbed another pick as well. The Gator defense had 5 sacks and 3 came from Kenny Leonard.
The Gators have a huge home game against Michigan next. Last year it was a close game with Florida winning late.

Andre Debose 2 125 TD
J. Dowling 6 tkl 1 Int
E. O'Donnell 3 tkl 2 int 1 TD

Offensive Miscues Kill Aggie MomentumQB Jameill Showers takes a sack in the 1st quarter. The Offensive Line surrendered 6 sacks on the dayTexas A&M Aggies: 10Arkansas Razorbacks: 35Fayetteville, AR - The Aggies are left with many questions to answer after looking terrible in their first road-game of the season, surrendering a 4 score loss in the Southwest Classic rivalry game with the Arkansas Razorbacks. A miserable performance by the Aggies, plagued by injuries and turnovers led to a quick 21-0 lead by Arkansas before the Aggies could muster a short FG late in the 3rd quarter. In total, the offense turned the ball over 6 times (a fumble by RB DJ Jones, and 5 INTs), 3 of which came inside the opposing red zone.Arkansas made the Aggies pay be converting 4 of those turnovers into points. The lowlight of the day was the ineffectiveness of the Offensive Line. The Razorbacks found their way to the QB 6 times on the day, knocking out the starting QB (Jameill Showers) and backup QB (Spencer Smith) in the process. Third stringer C.J. Ross led the team down the field late in the 3rd for the team's only touchdown by way of a 62 yard pass to WR Erik Harrison. There is much to be improved in practice this week before the Aggies (1-1) host LSU (2-0) and Coach @controllerabuser at home.Aggie RB DJ Jones fumbles after converting on 3rd and 1 just outside the opposing Red Zone. Turnovers were a key to Arkansas' easy win
Big Road Win for Big Blue!Devin Gardner celebrates his game-winning touchdown pass with 2:56 to playMichigan and Florida once again battled it out until the final minute of the game with the Wolverines beating the Gators 17-13 in the Swamp. Devin Gardner led the Wolverines to victory with a 2nd Quarter touchdown run and a 4th Quarter touchdown pass to lift Michigan to a win over #8 Florida. Michigan moved to #1 in the Polls this week coming off of their big home win over Notre Dame last week and look to tighten their grasp on the ranking. After limiting the Gator offense to two 1st Quarter field goals, with 4:56 left to play, Trey Burton threaded a 23-yard pass to Quinton Dunbar to put Florida up 13-10. Gardner then methodically drove Michigan down the field, connecting with true freshman running back Trey Lewis coming out of the backfield to put Michigan back up 17-13 with 3:00 left to play. Then, with 1:40 left, Cam Gordon intercepted Burton and after making Florida burn all of their timeouts and converting a first down, Gardner put the Wolverine offense in Victory Formation and took two knees to seal the victory.Michigan is off next week before they go on the road against Wisconsin and #20 Michigan State to start Big 10 play.
COACH RYTY RETURNS TO THE SIDELINES TO LEAD THE BUCKEYES TO A 17 - 13 VICTORY OVER THE #11 TROJANS
Ohio State Offensive Line Controlled the USC Defensive Line for most of the game.
LOS ANGELES, Cal --Behind the strong rushing attack of Jordan Hall and accurate passing of Mark Robertson, the Ohio State Buckeyes moved to 3-0 with a 17 - 13 defeat of the previously undefeated USC Trojans.
The first quarter and beginning of the second quarter were controlled on both sides of the ball by the Trojans. USC quickly took a 10 - 0 early lead after a 20 yard touchdown pass from QB Chuck Peoples to WR Markeith Ambles. On the ensuing drive, Robertson lead the Buckeyes down the field with a short quick passing game capped off by a 4 yard TD run by Jordan Hall. The Bucks would put together one final drive to tie the game at 10 right before half.

Alabama crushes Missouri
A great 2nd quarter gives the Crimson Tide the victory. The 21 point difference at the end of the game was all due to one quarter where the Tigers had 4 turnovers in a span of 3:00. Gabbert was off on his accuracy all day, and he would end up with all 4 TOs under his belt. It was a true welcome to SH and a learning experience for the Tigers. Next up after the bye week is the Penn State Nittany Lions

The Alabama Crimson Tide roll over rival Arkansas Razorbacks in a key SEC West showdown. Bama 3-0(1-0) held the Razorbacks scoreless until late in the contest when the game was already under control. Heisman hopeful QB A.J. McCarron threw for 146yds and 2 td's in the first half before being knocked out of the contest with a lingering shoulder ailment. His status for next week is uncertain, but the Tide are confident that backup QB Phil Simms is more than capable of leading this team in McCarron's abscene.
Scratching for PointsSlower-than-usual pace can't stop Kentucky from winning against Penn State
Davis & Berry read Penn State for UK's lone TDKentucky traveled to Happy Valley in hopes to give the Nittany Lions payback for the loss in Lexington last year. This years game wasn't as high scoring and fast paced but a grind it outoffensively and knock em out on defense. Penn State early and often loaded up the box to shut down Jaamal Berry and the running game and forced Kentucky into 3 TOs. UK sat back in zone defense and played a bend but don't break defense which they never broke as they force 4 TOs. Both teams combined for a total yards of 496 yards.
Fast forward to the 4th quarter as Kentucky held a 4 point lead with 6:36 left as they received the ball back from a PSU FG. Jaamal Berry out of the game with elbow bursitis, Cats had to manage their way down the field. UK was able to take a good chunk of time off the clock and put the lead back to 7 with 1:30 left. Penn State drove down the field but as Jones scanned the field he tried to fit the ball in between a tight window with 2 UK defenders, Harrison made a play on the ball and sealed the victory for the Cats.
