I'm not saying DGB is important to my team, but if you triple cover him my QB wont know what to do....
LSU - 27 Auburn - 30 Crazy ass late night game with MexiRican35 last night. I don't have all the stats in front of me so I will sum up the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. After trailing by 14 points in the 3rd quarter, LSU had made it 3 point game late in the 4th quarter, trailing 23-20 with the ball. On 3rd down from the Auburn 40 or so, LSU QB Rivers got sacked, bringing up a 4th and 20. Mexi elected to punt and play defense. This is where I do something stupid...kind like gowazzucougs PA pass from his own end zone up 4 late in the 4th against us a few season back. Anyways, under 2 minutes to play, LSU has 2 timeouts. 1st and 10 from about the 20 yard line. I decide to run a PA pass, thinking I can catch Mexi off guard and maybe end the game right there. WRONG! He defense didnt bite on the fake and ended up hitting my QB causing a fumble in which the LSU defense scooped up and took in for the score. Just like that its LSU 27, Auburn 23. So I still have time to score but my only TDs of the game came on a pick six and lucky deep ball into double coverage. Cut to the chase...3rd and 1 from midfield. My TE gets behind the secondary and catches a 40 yard pass to set up first and goal from the 10. 2 plays later, QB Zeke Pike found the TE again in the endzone and the lead. LSU's hail mary attempt fell well short and Auburn escaped with the Tiger Bowl victory. Good game Mexi. It was alot of fun!
@ #18 A&M Rallies Twice for 27-23 Win! The Aggies saw their season slipping away, after getting beat in the final seconds by Alabama last week and now down 20-0 late in the second qtr to Georgia Tech. 4 first half Manziel interceptions (the first of which was returned for a touchdown), a perfectly executed 15 play drive of option offense for a touchdown and seemingly no answer in the TAMU defense had the crowd completely silent at Kyle Field. And then Georgia Tech qb Byerly made his only recorded mistake of the day, throwing a comeback too far inside, allowing A&M CB Victor Jones to intercept it and set the Aggies up at the 30. 2 passes down the field to Williams and it was game on! On the second pass, Williams broke a simultaneous double hit tackle by the LB and S at the 3 (the first time I have ever seen this done), and marched into the endzone. The second half was all TAMU for the most part, as the defense finally figured out a strategy to slow down the option and used it. After 3 scoring drives tied it at 20, Tech regrouped and moved the ball down the field with the help of some ridiculous efforts by Byerly and his WRs. Tech managed a field goal to take a 23-20 lead with 50 seconds to play. Calm and collected, Manziel capped off an almost perfect half with an 82 yard strike down the sidelines to Brant Lee for the final score and the win. Tech gave it a shot, but the hail mary was knocked away in a crowd. GG Tech! Frick! They were running the ball down my throat in the first half and I couldn't do anything about it. Thankfully we held them to 2 field goals in the redzone or this would have been an ugly loss at home.
#8 TAMU 16 Alabama 17 Alabama stunned TAMU in Tuscolosa defeating TAMU 17-16. The game started very well for Alabama with Alan White leading the Tide down the field on the opening drive of the game resulting with a 22 yard TD run. TAMU tried to respond with a score of their own, but a fumble inside the Tide's 10 yard line ruined the drive. However, two plays later White was sacked in the end zone for a safety making the score 7-2. TAMU on the ensuing kickoff would another impressive drive, this time finishing the drive with a touchdown making the score 9-7. The Tide would finish the half with a 38 yard field goal by Neal Hennesy as the first half expired. In the second half TAMU started with the ball, and Brandon Williams ran for a 61 yard TD run early in the second half when the Alabama defense line decided to make a big path for Mr. Williams. TAMU did not go for two, but took the extra point making the score 16-10. The score would remain 16-10 till late in the fourth quarter. Bama got the ball with five minutes to go inside their fifteen yard line. They then went down the field eating the clock in their no huddle offense taking the ball down to the Aggies' 1 yard line. On third and goal, the Tide fullback got stuff. Then on fourth down with less than a minute to go in the game, The Tide ran the sweep with Dee Hart and scored the tying touchdown, and then converted the extra point. TAMU got the ball back, and their drive ended very quickly, like first play quickly. CB Geno Smith intercepted a Manizel pass to seal the deal. Folks, the lesson of this game is that when you score a touchdown in the second half and with the extra point you only have a six point lead, maybe you should go for two. You never know, you might not score again. good game Jayrah
#21#16 Williams, Bertolet Kick LSU to the Curb 27-24 It was the Brandon Williams show on Saturday night, as the Aggies came out and kept using their star in a variety of ways throughout the contest. He carried it 14 times for 127 yards and 2 tds, including a 72 yarder, and he also caught 4 for 29 yards. Manziel was nearly perfect, going 13-14 for 178 and an early touchdown. Early on the Aggies looked dominant, as the changed defensive look at LB really payed off against the scrambling Clark, who only finished with 14 yards on 10 carries. Clark would finish with a nice passing total of 18/25 and 243 yards but unfortunately for the Tigers he also threw 2 very costly ints. A&M took a 14-0 lead into the late stages of the 2nd quarter before LSU got themselves back into it with a no-huddle drive to end the half. So halftime read 14-7 and the Aggies felt like they could've taken the Tigers out, missing a FG off the upright and then having to punt after some tremendous field position. LSU drew first blood with a FG in the 3rd quarter, but then Williams struck, going untouched through the left side and motoring down the field for a 72 yarder. LSU was not detoured and marched down the field again to cut the deficit to 21-17 on a Hilliard TD run. A&M had a chance to put the game on ice but had to settle for a field goal to set up an intense finish. Tigers rolled down the field and convert to tie it at 24. And then the Aggies went to work, marching into FG territory and drilling an icy 41 yarder to win it. GG MexiRican35 a little magic was in the air eh. It seemed every time you had the ball there was a glitch freeze problem.
Canes Rebound defeat BYU 49-14 in Provo After a gut-wrenching loss at the hands of FSU, the Miami Hurricanes were back on the right track against the Cougars. Though the Canes would outscore BYU 21-7 in the first half, the Cougars were successful moving the ball on the Miami defense and would close the margin to seven with a touchdown on the first drive of the second half. Unfortunately for the Cougars, this would be the last time they would be close enough to smell victory as Miami finished the game scoring 28 unanswered points. The Canes were led by QB Christian Smith's four TD passes and a defense that forced five BYU interceptions, one of which was run back for a touchdown. Notable Stats QB Christian Smith - 25/33, 357 yards, 4 TD, 2 INT HB Randy Johnson - 11 car, 45 yards, TD, long 23 HB Dallas Crawford - 7 car, 88 yards, TD, long 66 WR Lamar Christensen - 7 rec, 117 yards, TD, long 33 WR Angelo Jean Louis - 4 rec, 93 yards, 2 TD, long 45 CB Nate Dortch - 1 tack, 2 INT, TD
Tennessee "Should of" Won Instead, Miami Wins 21-7 Miami went ahead 7-0 on a 10 yard TD pass from backup QB Preston Dewey to TE Brandon Fulse late in the first quarter. Before the score, Tennessee "should of" scored, but an interception in the red zone allowed the Canes to regain possession. Tennessee "should of" stopped the Miami drive, but the Tennessee defender dropped a catchable ball in which he likely would have scored, allowing the Canes to continue their drive. The Volunteers would get even midway through the second half on a 54 yard pass from QB Nathan Peterman to WR Drae Bowles in which the Miami defense was nowhere to be found. Tennessee "should of" taken the lead on its next possession as Peterman again found Bowles deep, but Bowles dropped the pass with clear sailing to the end zone. The game would go into the half tied at seven. Tennessee "should of" taken the lead early in the second half, but again an interception in the red zone twarted the scoring opportunity for the Vols. Then, a short field goal attempt that is otherwise a formality, was missed short as the Lag God intervened and told the Volunteers that it was not meant to be. The unexpected miss jump started the Hurricane offense who proceeded to march down the field and went ahead 14-7 on WR Angelo jean Louis' 13 yard TD reception. The Volunteer offense would be unable to respond, giving the Canes the ball once again, tough they would be starting with the ball inside their 10 yard line. Nonetheless, the Miami offense aggressively went to the air and scored on a 91 yard catch-and-run TD by WR Malcolm Lewis to take a 21-7 lead. Tennessee would attempt to come back and "should of" scored to bring the game within seven, but Peterman fumbled on his way into the end zone. Peterman's fumble would end Tennessee's comeback bid in a game of near misses for the visitors. Cheez, Good Game. The lag was unfortunate. I'm not sure how you taking a 10-7 lead midway through the third quarter would have changed things, but it's too bad we didn't get to find out. Your defense did a good job limiting my receivers, and your receiver game my DBs fits all game. Notable Stats Miami Tennessee QB Christian Smith - 11/20, 2 TD, 2 INT QB Nathan Peterman - 11/22, 194 yards, TD, 2 INT HB Randy Johnson - 14 car, 82 yards, long 21 HB Devlin Young - 12 car, 28 yards, long 10 WR Malcolm Lewis - 1 rec, 91 yards, TD WR Drae Bowles - 2 rec, 59 yards, TD, long 54 TE Brandon Fulse - 7 rec, 90 yards, TD, long 22 L. McNeil - 6 tack, INT FS K. Covington - 5 tack, INT, FF E. Merrill - tack, INT, FF 3rd Down - 5/9 Should of - 1/10
The Tigers were used to games like this, and finally pulled out a win in one. Take it to the 4th, where Bama had a 14-13 lead. LSU drove and kicked a 51 yard go ahead field goal with under 2 minutes to go. Just like in the past 2 losses, the LSU secondary gave up a huge play that put Bama right into FG range. But this time, the Tiger defense held and with the use of 3 timeouts were able tp save some clock as Bama hit a go ahead FG. With only 1:18 left, LSU only had to get into FG range. But WR Davenport took it into his own hands. He went up and hauled in a pass while getting hit from behind, then broke another tackle to get in the endzone. With a 2 point conversion Alabama would now have to score a TD just to tie. But their backup QB White would be picked, and LSU gets a huge victory. LSU 24 - #20 Alamaba 17
TAMU Blanks MSU 31-0, loses Brandon Williams for the final 3 weeks to a pectoral injury. I think he's been hurt in every game, and it finally was semi serious. Poor kid was in some nice award races, but we'll never see how he would have ended up. I guess he'll be back for the bowl game, which is a positive.
Good game, I probably got conservative after the big reception. I was more concern with not turning the ball over then getting a first down
Arkansas 31 Missouri 13 Arkansas jumps ahead early and hangs on to win. Arkansas shut down Missouri's offense on the first 3 positions, and converted their own drives for Touchdowns. With the quick 21 point lead mizzou became one dimensional and easier for Arkansas to stop. Missouri offense suffered until the 4th quarter when they fumble rouskied a 59 yard TD. Then scored again as Arkansas continues to suck at play offense with a lead giving up 2 turnovers while trying to run out the clock. the fumble rouskie is on the wire I recommend yall check it out.
Lol, yeah I came in expecting a tight battle after our first two games were last second FGs.... It was not to be.... for real though, the fumble TD play was unbelievable and hilarious with how many guys dove and missed the ball and then bumped it around.
Mizzou 24 Auburn 12 I dont have all the stats in front of me..... Auburn gave themselves chances in this one, intercepting Mauk twice and keeping Mizzou to just 3 of 7 on redzone scoring opportunities. Unfortunately for Auburn, they couldn't put anything together offensively. Early on they had success with the power running game against the undersized 3-3-5 of Mizzou, but when forced to pass they struggled mightily to get in a rythm. One one of the key plays of the game, Mizzou faced 3rd down from the Auburn 42 holding a 14-6 lead. Mizzou showed 4 wide and Auburn came out with just one deep safety and a number of players in or near "the box." Sensing a blitz, Mauk audibled his HB to a max protect and auburn inexplicably moved into press coverage on the outside (recchem didn't audible or anything, at the time I was thinking WTF is he doing, he has no safety help). On the play, DGB quickly beat the press coverage, the max protect picked up the blitz and Mauk dropped a 42 yard TD pass over the corner with the ball just barely beating the safety help. POTG: Eric Silva made Auburn once agrain sorry they missed out on him in season 1 recruiting as he went for over 100 yards and a pair of TDs. DGB had 5 catches, but all were big as he had 189 yards and the aforementioned TD catch GG recchem2000 I defenitely think that would have been a much tighter match up if I didn't have superman at WR. Also, sorry for the delay in getting this up
Wyrmreaver Good game man. I don't know what the hell happened on that long TD pass to DGB. I swear I didnt move the guys into press coverage but by that time of night and it being a Friday and all, I was well into my 6 pack of IPA's I just couldnt do much against your defense all game long. I think it was those uni's that threw me off See you next season!!
Mizzou 28 LSU 14 Both teams were sloppy in this one, committing a combined 9 turnovers plus a couple fumbles that weren't turnovers. Early on, LSU struggled mightily to even move the ball at all while Mizzou was able to get some rythm running the no huddle for most of the first half. Maty Mauk didnt have a tremendous game throwing, but on a couple occasions where LSU left DGB in single coverage Mauk made them pay, connecting on TD passes of 37 and 19 yards in the second and third quarters to go up 21-0. LSU finally found some life with the backup QB. Mizzou was sitting back and unable to generate pressure with just a 3 man rush and Rivers was able to sit back, gently roll out and find guys open as the play broke down on multiple occasions during 2 scoring drives. Down 28-14 Rivers would throw an INT at the goal line with about a minute left to seal the deal. POTG goes to Mizzou MLB Donavin Newsome who registered 7 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT and a fumble recovery. GG MexiRican35
Miami In Cruise Control In Lexington Dominate Wildcats 48-6 It took the Miami Hurricanes a little time to get settled in, but once the Canes got going, Kentucky stood no chance. After K Steve Sims opened the scoring midway through the firs quarter on a 38 yard FG, the Canes went on to score five touchdowns to take a 38-3 lead into halftime. The scoring barrage began with WR Lamar Christensen's 94 yard TD reception and ended with WR Malcolm Lewis 23 yard TD pass with just over a minute left in the half. The second half saw Miami manage the game as reserves got to play throughout. Notable Stats QB Christian Smith - 14/18, 314 yards, 4 TD HB Randy Johnson - 12 car, 86 yards, 2 TD, long 18 WR Lamar Christensen - 5 rec, 192 yards, 2 TD, long 94 WR Brandon Fulse - 3 rec, 43 yards, TD, long 26 WR Malcolm Lewis - 3 rec, 41 yards, TD, long 23 MLB Raphael Kirby - 7 tack (4 solo), INT
Florida St. 31 Tennessee 7 For the 4th game in a row, FSU scored exactly 31 points as they beat Tennessee on the road fairly easily. FSU took a 14-0 lead when Jacob Coker found Kelvin Benjamin wide open behind the defense for 46 yards early in the 2nd. Tennessee scored on their next play and FSU was able to convert a FG at the end of the half to take a 17-7 lead. FSU scored early in the 3rd off a play-action pass to the TE who ran 77 yards for the score and a 24-7 lead. FSU then scored on a pick-6 to wrap up the game in the 3rd. Tennessee had 4 interceptions, including one in that FSU caught in the endzone. FSU HB Mario Pender became the first player for FSU to run for 1,000 yards since Warrick Dunn in 1996. FSU Jacob Coker (QB)- 7-14 for 180 yards, 2 TD, INT Mario Pender (HB)- 16 carries for 132 yards, TD Eddie Huffman (HB)- 7 carries for 29 yards Kelvin Benjamin (WR)- 3 receptions for 77 yards, TD Tenn N. #24#13Aggies Reverse Fortunes During 28 Point Second Half to Beat the Fighting Recchems 38-31 Well, it's always a burner with these two teams, as once again a substantial lead was built and again the other team came back. recchem2000 can not be happy with this one, as his defensive backs just couldn't contain Mike Evans in crucial situations. Evans only caught 1 td, but had 3 catches overall for 149 yards. His touchdown at the end of the half gave A&M a spark and was against a 3-deep coverage. The game started somewhat slow, as A&M tried to enforce a misdirection offense behind new starter Matt Davis, who is filling in for an injured Manziel until the Bowl game. Will Randolph was a point of focus as well, although he didn't do much in the yards dept. However he was tough and taking 16 carries and moving forward when he needed to for A&M to move the sticks. The Aggies scored a FG in the first to take a lead, but then the second qtr belonged to the Tigers. Zeke Pike led Auburn to 21 points aided by a Davis injury for TAMU, leading to back to back Aggie turnovers in that qtr and with 2 td strikes from Pike in the process. The final Auburn 2nd qtr td left 48 seconds on the clock, so A&M was tempted to try and turn something small into a big play to get some momentum, but before they knew it, it was 3rd and 15 with 25 seconds left. Davis re-entered the game and instead of give up on the drive and give it back the qb threw a perfect corner route to Brant Lee for a first down, then struck for 55 yards to Evans. At that point a serious shift happened as the crowd, the TAMU D-line and Tiger turnovers took over. Pike started getting pressure and threw an immediate third qtr pick to set A&M up for a touchdown to make it 21-17. Nate Johnson tried to give Auburn momentum back with a 104 yard kickoff return to make it 28-17, but the Aggies were no longer afraid of giving Davis the reigns to throw the ball. A long pass that went over the head of an intended receiver landed in the hands of Evans inside the 25 and they cashed in again with Randolph. The D-line continued pressure on Auburn's qb, sacking him 6 times overall and forcing a second Pike pick, which gave TAMU the ball for the lead as Randolph ran his second td in the qtr. 31-28 Aggies. Auburn would not go quietly, driving for a win but settling for a tying FG with 47 seconds left, but Evans then struck again, catching a bomb in double coverage down the right sidelines to set up the Aggies for their winning TD with just 28 seconds remaining. A little coaching controversy took place as Sumlin contemplated kneeling out the last Auburn timeout from the 1 before kicking a game winning FG with no time on the clock, as Recchem seemed to be conceding a touchdown to keep time on the clock. However the Aggies decided to sneak in a touchdown instead and leave time in good faith. Unfortunately for Auburn, Pike's final pick happened the next play. GG Rec Key Stats: TAMUQB Davis - 11-16, 267, TD, 0 int - 23 yards rushing, TD, FumbleRB Randolph - 44 yards, 2 tdsWR Evans - 3 catch, 149 yards, TD AUBURNQB Pike - 10-14, 227, 2 TD, 3 INTRB Sims - 33 yards, TDWR Crowder - 3 catch, 113 yards, TD
Mizzou 34 'Bama 7 Mizzou was just too much for Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The Tide took possession first and moved down the field well before the drive stalled in FG range. However, a missed FG by (me) would give Mizzou the ball and a little momentum. After the Tigers dinked and dunked their way downfield, Maty Mauk took off to escape pressure from the 37, wiggled out then in, got a block, cut back out and found paydirt. An Alabama interception resulted in a Mizzou FG to make it 10-0 after one. The second quarter would see these teams trade punts and the scoreboard wouldn't change before the break. Mizzou got the ball to start the second half and wasted no time. barely a minute into the 3rd quarter Erik Silva would take a well timed option pitch in from 17 yards out for a 17-0 margin. Bama would punt and the Tigers would tack on a FG after a nice redzone series for the Tide defense. After a second interception though, the Tide D would be unable to stop DGB from snagging a 25 yard TD between two defenders. Alabama would finally get on the board early in the 4th quarter with a TD run from the HB, Hart. The ensuing drive by Mizzou would erase even the faintest of comeback hopes when Erik Silva took a Buck Sweep, made a couple defenders miss and coasted in from 36 out to give the game it's eventual final score of 34-7 with 3:33 left. GG gowazzucougs , you did a great job of limiting DGB for pretty much the whole game with safety help and user challenges to the shots I took, Silva was just in Beast mode at times shrugging off tacklers and falling forward. That Alan White kid at QB didnt have great stats, but he had some serious flashes, he seems like he could be pretty special for you if you make your system a bit more accommodating to his strengths.
My game plan was pretty simply not let your stud beat me, which I pretty much did for the entire game. This whole season I have played rotating quarterbacks between Alec Morris, Drew Bledsoe Jr. and Alan White, Denard Robinson Jr. I started White in my first game against Maryland, and after getting down 14-0 and watching several passes fall incomplete because they were not accurately thrown I had to bring in Morris, who cannot run the spread option offense that I was running, so I opted to run the air raid offense, and try to throw it every down. The problem has been that Morris cannot stay healthy, this is his second stint on the IR where he has missed several games. White honestly has thrown the ball pretty well in replace of Morris, but every now and then I ask myself where was he throwing that ball. I may move White to running back next year and use him as my Wildcat QB.
