    Mizzou 24
    TAMU 17

Mizzou pulls it out with key plays late!

The Tigers hosted the Aggies on a snowy, windy afternoon in Columbus. Mizzou got the ball first and marched down the field for a 12 play drive that culminated in a 20 yd TD pass from Mauk to DGB, note to TAMU's D-coordinator - dont ever press DGB, your asking to give up 6! TAMU put a nice drive together as well, but failed to convert on 4th and 1 in Mizzou territory. After a few punts back and forth, TAMU was able to even things up when stud HB Williams, back early from injury, caught a screen, got a few huge blocks and just blazed past the Mizzou secondary for a 78 yard TD.

The Aggies got the ball first in the second half and would connect on a 52 yard FG to take a 10-7 lead early in the 3rd. On the next possession the Tigers would drive all the way down to the 5 yard line but would be held and settled for a FG to even things up. After a quick stop and a nice punt return, Mizzou used the short field to regain the lead 17-10 on a 9 yard TD run from Eric Silva. A&M didn't panic though. Down 7 in the fourth quarter, they calmly drove down the field and Davis found McDonald for a 27 yard TD strike over the middle on a key 3rd down and long. The tie was short lived though, as Mizzou needed just 5 plays to move 85 yards and regain the lead on Silva's second TD run of the 4th quarter, this one from 3 yards out.

With 3:08 to play A&M had plenty of time and things looked good after a long first down completion put them in Mizzou territory. 3 plays later on 3rd and 12 Davis made a poor read and was intercepted by Eugene Hicks for the games first turnover. With 2:19 to play and holding all 3 timeout there was still time for the Aggies to get the ball back. After 2 quick stops Maty Mauk sealed the game with a cold blooded throw. 3rd and 7, Silva runs an angle route, the protection is superb and Mauk drops a pretty lob, in the driving snowstorm, right over the LB who couldnt keep pace with Silva for a 25 yard gain. After 3 short runs Mizzou punted and A&M got one last shot with 4 seconds left, but an 89 yard pass on the last play of the game was just too much to ask.

GG Jayrah , per usual it was a good one. One turnover on the day between us and that coupled with the third down pass a couple plays later were really the difference in this one. See you next season!

    Arkansas Claims the Golden Boot

You might say the LSU Right tackle and Arkansas DE David Edwards got along Swimmingly. Edwards may show up in the bull fighting right tackles nightmares after Edwards planted the LSU QB 5 times on the day. While LSU's offense stuggled, Arkansas had a near flawless day from robbins and another 162 yards and a TD from HB Kody Walker. The Offensive Line for arkansas consistantly over powered and created huge holes for the truck named Kody Walker to plow.

you were supposed to lose so I could play dru!

Nice season though, coming off of that early season loss and all.

and Dru50 that HB is a beast, I held him to 18-86 and that felt like a huge victory even though its a productive day for him. With that guy and WGWs skill passing the hogs are a tough out, it feels like you can try and limit one or the other, but not both.

I have no illusions about my chances to beat whygodwhy1111 in the SEC title game, I would just like to not shoot myself in the foot like I have the other 4 times we have played. He is too hard to beat without me beating myself on top of it.

Even when I lose I should be guaranteed to finish top 15 and keep my 6th star, which is all that really matters to me at this point. Gameplay in NCAA is so brutal this year that recruiting is the only part of playing the game that I really enjoy.

Whawhawhawhat? I feel like the gameplay is greatly improved. Many of my user games have been hard fought battles with big moments that last in my memory, including gut wrenching 3rd down conversions late in my first 2 losses to Arkansas that allowed him to get late FGs instead of forcing punts, and then just the opposite when I was on that end in games like the one I had vs jayrah last night. Is Madden better? I thought you were getting owned in TMFL?

I am getting owned in Madden, but that isn't because the gameplay is bad. To the opposite, I find the gameplay in Madden to be far better than NCAA. The biggest gripe I have with NCAA is that zone defense is freaking useless unless you blitz. Playing Madden makes it worse, because in Madden you can actually play zone with a 4 man rush and have it be a viable defensive strategy. And don't get me started on how bad the offensive line blocking is this year....especially if your opponent blitzes and/or shifts their line/LB'ers. I've never in my life experienced more free rushers when there are guys available to block them than in this years NCAA.

I love this league, that and recruiting will keep me going, but the gameplay in NCAA this year is honestly worse than last year in my opinion.

I have seen that if I dont have a back or TE in max protect I better get rid of it quick! Zone isn't that bad, I sprinkle it in to keep guys off balance. The big issue I have with zone is that the QB will just sit back, wait for the slant route to go all the way across the field and throw it outside the opposite hash so it's a 25 yard pass (in the air) rather than a 4-8 yard throw on the outside or in the middle of the field, but I hear guys say that happens in Madden too. I only very rarely shift line/LB but a couple guys do it a lot, we could just ban it.... there are over/under formations in most playbooks that are pre-shifted, you could call one of those if you want to load one side and just "flip play" if you wanted to shif opposite rather than pinching the line and shifting the LBs one way or the other (i've seen a lot of that)

If you call zone on 3rd and long in NCAA it's virtually a guaranteed completion if your opponent attacks the seams, as the LB's and safety's do a terrible job of passing guys off or picking guys up as they track through the zones. If you haven't seen that then you haven't played guys who throw the ball like Kapono and SatansAngel1104 enough. It's an absolute joke.

Regarding the shifting issue, I've told Cheez several times that I've been tempted to ban line/LB shifts presnap but I always think better of it. But I have seen several times where someone shifts their line one way, then shifts the LB's the other way and BOOM! - unblocked LB comes right through the line untouched...even if you are in goal line with a ton of blockers. It's like the OL AI has no clue how to adjust.

I dont use the shifts enough to really feel the effects of a ban, of the guys ive played i can think of 3 that shift one or the other on half-ish of their plays.

on 3rd and long I have called some cover 3 now and then, control the LB or SS in the short zone and chase the seam, which works sometimes, but then i'll sometimes get burned on a corner route or late slant over the short sideline zone/under the deep outside

Is it the shifts? Or is it the stunts? I use both...

Also, i dont really move my LBs all that much, unless I'm dropping them back into coverage?

Lastly, the blocking (pass and run blocking) in this years game is just atrocious. There have been times where I want to say "screw it" and be done because I can't stand the horrible blocking logic.

I completely agree with you on the blocking logic. It's managed to be worse this year than last year, which I would not have thought possible.

Maybe years of playing NCAA has just lowered my expectations....... it seems okay to me for the most part.

I don't know if shifts are causing a problem or not, but I have seen a lot of them and the first couple times I played those guys their defense was really good, then again this is the SEC, so good defense may have nothing to do with shifts and be more about the personnel and match ups. Most of the blocking issues I have seen I chalk up to my O-line being not very good compared to the rest of the user teams. You have the same problem cheez, our rosters are a bit behind the other guys, though I think next season my talent level will squeak past a couple guys who have struggled

    Canes Win 11
defeat Texas Longhorns 42-17 in Cotton Bowl

The Miami Hurricanes completed the best season to date under Coach Akai Boom by defeating the Texas Longhorns in Dallas.

The Canes scored in all three facets of the game in the first half to build a 21-3 lead going into the break. After a 5 yard TD pass from QB Christian Smith to WR Angelo Jean Louis, WR Malcolm Lewis returned a Texas punt 80 yards to give the Canes a 14-0 lead. Texas would answer with a short FG in the second quarter, and would be threaten again near halftime. However, Miami OLB JaWand Blue picked off the Longhorn QB and returned the pick 73 yards for a touchdown with a mere nine seconds left in the half.

The second half saw Texas close the gap to 21-10 as they scored on their first possession following a Miami interception. The Canes would lean on their running game and would drive down the field before WR Lamar Christensen caught a fade in the end zone for a 28-10 Miami lead. Texas would not go away and would score on the last play of the third on a 55 yard TD pass in which the coverage was nowhere to be found.

In the fourth, after a third interception of Smith, Texas began to drive to bring the margin into single digits, however, MLB Raphael Kirby would step in front of a pass and return it 56 yards for a touchdown. Kirby's TD gave Miami a 35-17 lead midway through the fourth and provided much needed breathing room. After a Texas punt, Miami would put the game away as Christensen would score his second TD of the game to give the Canes a 42-17 lead.

    Notable Stats
    QB Christian Smith - 13/23, 234 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT
HB Randy Johnson - 16 car, 110 yards, long 26
    WR Lamar Christensen - 5 rec, 79 yards, 2 TD, long 55
TE Brandon Fulse - 5 rec, 120 yards, long 34
MLB Raphael Kirby - 14 tack (11 solo), 4 TFL, INT, 2 FF, TD
OLB JaWand Blue - 5 tack (2 solo), INT, TD

Georgia finishes the season 12-2 after beating Nebraska in the Outback Bowl. The love was passed around as nearly the entire team played, and the highlight was HB Keith Marshall picking up 100 yards and a TD in about a quarter of play. Marshall ends his Bulldog career as the schools single season and career leader in rushing TDs.

Sophomore DE John Patterson finishes the season with 19.5 sacks, and won his 2nd straight Nagurski and Lombardi awards.
