Jets escape with 22-20 home win versus the Patriots. The game started off looking like the Patriots were going to blow out the Jets as they took a quick commanding lead 14-0. Mallet and Co. took advantage of a INT made by CB Ras-I Dowling deep in their own territory and scored quick. Mallet to Ted Ginn Jr on a 8 yd TD pass. The Pat D would then hold down the Mean Green again on the next possesion and after some nice runs by Chris Johnson, Mallett would again hit TE Chris Cooley for a TD pass in the back of the endzone for 10 yds. Then the Jets would get some life from the Defense as they created a fumble recovered by SS Laron Landry and a INT by Antonio Cromartie, both led to Connar Barth FGs. The half would end in stunning fashion as Cromartie returned a pick for 6 and swung momentum at the half with Jets trailing 14-13. After a couple nice inside and out runs by Zoey Hood the Jets took the lead on another Barth FG, 16-14 Jets. Barth would later score again on a kick after a stalled NY drive to make it 19-14. Mallett was not done as he found Gronkowski and Lloyd on some nice looks down the field to set up a 1 yard plunge by FB Lousaka Polite, 20-19 Pats. NE decided to go for 2 but came up short. NY got the ball back but went 3 and out and things looked dim for their season opener, but the D stepped up again. Laron Landry stepped up again and went high to pick off Mallett. The Jet O picked up some yards on a long strike to Ramses Barden which put them in FG range. After running the clock down, Connor Barth scored his 16 point of the day hitting the game winner as the clock expired, 22-20 Jets. GG whoozy cya in New England.
