    Seminoles escape season opener 31-23
    [IMG]
The 2013 Florida State Seminoles opened the season up at home against #21 West Virginia Mountaineers. This season the Seminoles are led by redshirt junior quarterback Clint Trickett who saw limited playing time last season but the coaching staff feels he is ready to be the leader of this team. Joining Trickett in the backfield this year is senior runningback Larry Waters as well as All American Tyrone Blount and the talented freshman Collin Young. The Seminoles won the toss and elected to kick and the 2013 season was underway in Tallahassee. West Virginia's first drive was over quick as they went 3 and out and it was Trickett and the Seminole offense's turn but just like West Virginia went 3 and out. West Virginia once again couldn't get the offense rolling and punted again and on the Seminoles next drive after two short runs Clint Trickett hooked up with wide receiver Greg Dent for a 40 yard touchdown to give the Seminoles a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter was a nightmare for the Seminoles as after back to back punts West Virginia put a great drive together and scored on a 23 yard pass to tight end Chris Snook and on the Seminole's next drive Trickett would have his pass picked off giving the Mountaineers great field position but the Seminole defense stepped up and only gave up a field goal to give the Mountaineers a 10-7 lead late in the 2nd quarter. With just over 2 minutes left in the quarter the Seminole offense went to work moving the ball down the field but once again a bad decision turned into points for the Mountaineers as Trickett threw a pick on a screen pass and Brodrick Jenkins took it 89 yards for a pick 6 and push the West Virginia lead to 10 with only 5 seconds left in the half. On the ensuing kickoff Xavier Rhodes took the kick back 87 yards for a touchdown to end the half and pull the Seminoles back within three 17-14 West Virginia at the half. Florida State got the ball to start the 2nd half but the West Virginia defense forced another punt giving the Mountaineers a chance to put a lot of pressure on the Seminoles but the defense for Florida State forced them to punt which led to a Seminole touchdown on a 2 yard run by Clint Trickett to give the Seminoles a 21-17 lead heading into the 4th. West Virginia's offense started to sputter at the end of the 3rd and into the 4th and had to punt again which again led to a Seminole touchdown this time Trickett found Christian Green for a 22 yard score to push the lead to 28-17. West Virginia finally got back into a groove and marched down the field and scored on a 11 yard run by DaQuan Hargrett but the Mountaineers were unsuccessful on the 2 point attempt. With 4:00 left the Seminoles were only up 5 and they needed to eat some clock and put points on the board and thats what they did as they moved down the field and Mike Sykes kicked a 18 yard field goal to put the Noles up 8 with 1:21 left in the game. After the kickoff West Virginia quarterback Barry Brunetti went for the home run on the first play and Lamarcus Joyner picked the pass off and after a couple kneel downs the Seminoles are 1-0. Next up for the Seminoles is a road trip down the road to take on the Panthers of Florida International.

    #4 Ohio State over #17 Georgia Tech - 30-23

The tone of this game was basically set on Georgia Tech's first offensive drive where tOSU's defense was able to make a nice stand. Ohio State took the lead following a FG on their first offensive drive..

A punt return fumble before half allowed the Yellow Jackets to cut the Ohio State lead to 4 with a 30 yard FG.

Opening the second half Guiton was picked off giving Georgia Tech the lead. Heading into the fourth quarter, pressure forced GT's qb to throw a pick to one of our DEs to give us a 7 point lead.

The fourth quarter was all time management for the Buckeyes, and watching Carlos Hyde run the rock which he would take the last lead with a 12 yard TD run.

The defense got sick pressure the entire game, and the offensive moved the ball nicely through the air and on the ground with an occasional miscue.

Good news and bad news for me:

    Bad News - I lost

Good News - This is easily my best team yet. I have 2 stud RB's a fast and cheesey QB, and a good defense.

Arkansas benches Mitchell, gets big 2nd half from Johnson

It was a rough start for Brandon Mitchell, who has been waiting in the wings for 3 years, patiently waiting his turn while Mallett and Wilson got to throw it for the Razorbacks. Maybe the nerves got to him, because Mitchell was terrible, going 2/8 for 33 yards and 2 INTs before getting benched in the 2nd quarter. Coach Blonde said after the game Mitchell will start against Clemson next week, though. Backup QB Jake Johnson came in and went 14/18 for 177 yards and 4 TD with 0 INT. HB Lance Ray had 17 carries for 175 yards with 4 receptions for 34 yards and 2 total TD.

Arkansas trailed 7-0 going into the 2nd quarter, but as soon as Johnson came in at QB the offense turned around, and managed to take a 17-7 lead into halftime. After Lance Ray broke a 68 yard run on the first play of the 2nd half, Baylor put together a couple solid drives to get within 7 at 24-7, but Arkansas pulled away in the 4th with a strong defensive performance.
