UCF Takes Down Connecticut 63-24 in a meeting of ranked teams
The question coming into the game was "would UCF's #1 ranked defense be able to hold against the prolific offense of UConn?" The answer was a resounding yes, as they kept UConn from getting a first down in the entire first quarter, forcing 2 INTs, and storming out in front to a 28-0 lead before UConn even knew what hit them. From then on, it was damage control for both sides, as UCFs offense continued to have success on the ground with Dareen Owi, who is garnering some Heisman attention as of late. He had another great game, working with short fields (two drives started inside the 5 thanks to punt and kickoff returns) to get into the endzone 6 times on the day on only 21 ATT. He had 182 yards and dominated the game, breaking tackles and using his great acceleration to burst through holes inside and around the edge when needed. Freshman QB David Poole had another solid game, rushing for 73 yards and throwing for 121, even with limited attempts with an early big lead. The UCF defense held connecticut to 60 yards on the ground on 30 attempts, but gave up over 300 yards with UConn being very aggressive to try to get back into the game.

TEXAS STATE FINALLY GETS OUT OF RUT AND PULLS AHEAD IN DIVISIONAL RACE
Texas State finally got it together and finally played a complete game, turning away division foe Old Dominion 30-14. The arm of Jason Webster was the deciding factor in the game. After shaky performances in previous games, he stepped it up and put up some gaudy stats 14/16 for 288 yards and 3 TDs. The defense played well also, grabbing 2 INTs and causing a fumble on an errant pitch. Next week the Bobcats travel to Troy, AL to play the struggling 0-8 Troy Trojans.

Ohio improves to 8-1 on the year and 6-0 in MAC play. Ohio will bout with Northern Illinois next Saturday as they look to remain perfect in the conference.

    Utah Runs Over TAMU

    Utes Win 52-24

College Station, TX- It's not often there is a matchup between 2 non-conference opponents in the top 20 this late in the season, but Texas A&M fans got to see one up close and personal on Saturday night. At least until they emptied the stadium halfway through the 3rd quarter.

The Aggies took a 3-0 lead on their first posession, and climbed as close as 14-10 early in the second, but after that Utah steamrolled the Aggies en route to a big non-conference win. Josh Treangen continued his role as a TD poacher, carrying twice for 11 yards and a score, including the first Utah TD from 1 yard out. He also scored on a reception from 2 yards out.

Texas A&M's offense was efficent on Saturday totalling 362 yards of offense. Normally that would be excellent, but their porous run defense continued, and they were closer to 0 yards of offense than they were to the Utah offensive machine that put up 749 yards of offense Saturday. Utah racked up 583 yards rushing on the "Wrecking Crew" for their best rushing attack all season. Three players broke the 100 yard mark; Brandon Cox had 139 yards on 10 carries and 1 score, Troy McCormick broke the 200 yard mark with 217 yards and a TD on 22 carries, and Delshawn McClellon scored once on 2 carries and finished with 116 yards rushing.

The only bright spot for Texas A&M was that the defense forced 4 turnovers, (I am really tired of non-sense fumbles and tipped picks) unfortunately that statistic was over shadowed by the fact that they allowed 12.4 yards per rush on 47 rushes.

Hunter Dimick continued his assault on the record books by bringing down the Aggie QB 3 times to push his NCAA leading total to 18. He also topped the Utah all-time sack record and needs 5 sacks to break Terrell Suggs single season NCAA record. "We are very proud of Hunter and what he has meant to this program. I'm very happy to see the hard work he has put in his whole career pay off, and it couldn't happen to a better representative for our program. I hope he can catch Suggs in the next few weeks." The Utes managed to bring down the Aggie QB 7 times total in the game.

    Players of the Game:
Hunter Dimick: 5 tackles, 4 TFL, 3 sacks
    Troy McCormick: 22 carries 217 yards 1 TD; 2 catches 11 yards

The offense is rolling pretty good, but the defense is hit or miss. This past week I had 400 yards of offense before halftime. And A&M had about 150. They didn't get over the 100 yard passing mark until there were 6:00 left in the 4th. But from then on out they did whatever they wanted.
