Great game AJ. We nearly pulled out the upset. 2 missed FG and a drop on a deep fly route killed this one. Oh yeah, and my poor coverage on your WR at the end of the game.

One of ugliest Gator games in recent history. Lance West throws 4 more picks but somehow the Gators leave Miami with a win. Unreal ending!! It was quite fun to have such a defensive battle although I wouldn't have minded playing offense a tad better but I guess we'll take it. Feel very fortunate to still have an undefeated record.

In a rematch of the 09 national championship game, Texas exerts its revenge on Alabama. Eeirly enough, the game in 2013 kind of went the same way it did in 09, just vice versa. Texas used the combo of running backs Whaley and Shead to gain 213 yards on the ground. Whaley (111 yards, 3 tds) started off by scoring on a 26 yard run, juking by the safety and leaping into the endzone. It was then Shead's turn (91 yards, 1 td), who broke a tackle, spun outside, and jet to the endzone for 45 yards. Bama could muster nothing on offense, getting only 10 points in the first half as their new option attack was being stuffed by the texas dline. QB Sims for Bama was able to break off some nice runs as he gained 89 yards. But DE Little of the Longhorns made sure the passing attack was stifled, as he caused havoc in the backfield for 3 sacks. The Tide are in unfamiliar territory, as they start the season 0-2. Texas, on the other hand, is perfect through 2 and has a bye week leading up to Michigan.

    #4 Texas 35 - #12 Alabama 13

I have a question about mass subbing. I was up 35-0 at half time on TCU and according to league rules, I am supposed to pull starters when up by 21 points. I was wondering if this was something we strongly adhere to. I pulled starters at halftime and gave up an early score to make it 35-7. I just feel like with the competativeness with this league and the sliders, we should rewrite the mass sub rules. Some of my thoughts include

    1) Starters can play the entire first half
    2) 35 points or more in the 3rd
    3) 28 points or more in the first half of the 4th quarter
    4) 21 points or more in the second half of the 4th quarter.

To me, that seems more realistic to what happens in college football.

If I am mistaken and we are to always pull our starters when up 21 no matter what part of the game, then I apologize now for not adhering to the letter of the law, but I do not believe the spirit of the law is to be up 21-0 in the 2nd quarter and pull starters.

Let me know what you all think or know about this.

We modified this in the redshirts. It is only mandatory to pull starting offense only, when up 28 or more in the 2nd half.

It certainly does need looked at with how explosive teams can get. I see no need to pull defense if you dont want to.

I generally say it's fine to play your starters the first half, but once you get up 4 possessions, I think you need to really start playing to eat time. Then mass sub to start the 2nd half if you are up by more than 21. If they pull within 3 possessions, put your starters back in if you want to.

You can't be worried about 35-7, they still had to score 4 more touchdowns in the 2nd half unanswered to catch you.

That being said, you don't have to sub out your 1st team defense at any point.

I hear you Soda, but Arkansas came back from 15 down in 4 minutes on me in the 4th quarter so I worry LOL.

It sounds like we are kind of saying it should be a judgement call. If I win by 42, my last 3 TD's better not be 50 plus yard TD passes, unless it can be proven the YAC was 49 yards of the 50.

I have a question about using backup Quarterbacks. I put in my backup transfer QB Jordan Luallen to diversify my offense a little bit in the first game. He is a faster mobile qb where my starter Thomas is pretty much just a pocket passer. Am I allowed to stick Luallen in for a series or two a game? Sort of what Florida did with Tebow when they had Chris Leak?

Don't want to be cheesy or be a bad sim player. Luallen can run a mean option with Wilson and he broke a 79-yard option play touchdown in the first game against Utah.

Yeah, basically the idea is keep it sim. Think about what a real coach would do and do that. As long as you are trying to do that... I think we'll be ok.

Yeah, it's fine, just carefully consider how you do it, especially in user games. Don't bring him in for one play and take him out and don't be switching every series. Perhaps consider a playbook next year that implements some wildcat formations where you can auto-sub your option QB in to use him more effectively as a runner/passer.

AJ highlights of our game are on the wire, so you can see the deciding play. 2 replays of it. You ran a pick or something :p

Also, see what I mean about the uniforms? Not sure why they didnt show up on your side.

Took a look at my picks also.. No wonder I couldn't pass all that well. You were double teaming my guys on outs and combacks. Looks like I'm going back to the cheese and hitting guys in the middle of the field.. ;) I didn't really want to go after that part of the field because it really is too easy and takes no skill but I now look like an idiot for forcing the ball into coverage.

That wasn't a pick, it was called good football. :p
