UCLA Rallies Late to Beat the Hawkeyes 34-26
The UCLA Bruins fell behind early as Iowa came out of the gate ready to play, and the Bruins coming off of a route of Buffalo in which their starters only played the first half, struggled in the early going, falling behind 20 to nothing to end the first half. UCLA responded in the third quarter scoring to make it a 20-7 game on a 3 yd TD run by J. James. Iowa would come back down the field and respond taking a 27-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
That's when the UCLA offense and defense would awaken from it's early season slumber, and turn on the afterburners, scoring 27 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, while the defense shut out the Hawkeyes.
R. Brehaut wnet 20 of 42 for 384 yards and 3 TDs
J. James had 12 carries for 16 yards and 2 TDs
C. Alford had 6 catches for 120 yards and 2 TDs

Virginia Escapes #19 Miami, Loses Starting QB Metheny For 9 Weeks
#21 Virginia 24 @ #19 Miami 23
Virginia Rolls on, Metheny Hurt
It wasn't pretty, but the Cavaliers escaped a Miami comeback and won by a single point. "It really hurts losing Ross for this long," said Coach E "We really are going to need to find a way to keep our passing game going, that could mean some big changes are coming."
The Cavaliers were up 17-7 at the half, but Metheny then got hurt. Miami would go on to score 17 unanswered points but missed the extra point. Virginia would drive the length of the field behind the legs of backup QB Michael Strauss and scored on a TD pass from Strauss to TE Freedman. The Cavaliers held Miami on their next drive to hold on to a 24-23 win.
Virginia will host Duke at home next week in hopes of a 3-1 start and 2-0 start in the ACC
Florida 28 Texas Tech 0The Florida Gators got a complete team effort this week as the defense was able to keep the high octane offense of Texas Tech off the scoreboard. QB Terrel Carr ended the day 9-14 for 160 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT as Mack Brown led the Florida Gators offense with 147 yards rushing on 22 carries and 2 TDs. The scoring started in the 1st quarter as Mack Brown got his first TD of the day off a 5 yard run, before the defense, and more specifically, CB Jaylen Watkins, was able to take an interception 33 yards back to the house to stretch the lead to 14. In the 2nd quarter Florida added to their lead, scoring on a beautifully thrown 30 yard pass from Carr to WR Brad Coley before Mack Brown put this game out of the reach of Texas Tech in the 3rd quarter as he juked and spun his way to a 52 yard touchdown run for the final score of 28-0.GG Sabo, best of luck rest of the way!Next week Florida goes back home as they face Tennessee in their first SEC game of the season.
Cal handled Northwestern easily, holding them to only one TD in garbage time.
The Bears offense scored three TDs in the first half. And the backups sealed the victory in the second half.
Alabama took advantage of Arkansas in the first three quarters of the game. Down 38-14 late in the third Arkansas put up 22 unanswered points to make it a two point game with a min left. Arkansas drove down the field only to have B.Mitchell throw his 4th Int of the game. Hopefully this heartbreaker does not effect how Arkansas plays the rest of the year.
Lobos 35 Texas-El Paso Miners 28
New Mexico would continue their win streak with a close victory over rival UTEP. Led by QB Darian Godfrey and HB Kasy Carrier the Lobos would improve to 3-0 on the year. The game would be close all through the second half as Miners WR's would abused the smaller Lobo DB's. Miner QB Siegal would bring his team within 7pts as the 3rd quarter came to an end. In the 4th, it would be the Lobos running attack that would seal the game. Lobo HB Kasey Carrier would break runs of 65 and 52 yards to keep pace with a Miner offense that put up 28 points in the second half, to keep the game out of reach for the Miners. Next week, the Lobos will welcome hated in-state rival New Mexico State to University Staduim for a rehash of the Rio Grande Rivalry, which the Lobos have dominated of late.
