Holy shit USC's HB just torched me. 140 or 150 on the ground and 3 TDs, 7 cathed another 100 yards and a TD.

    Utah Bowls Over USC
    [IMG]
    Ute's Win 56-49

Salt Lake City, UT- Utah took on the USC Trojans at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday and the Trojans got beat for the second time this season dropping the preseason top 5 team out of the Top 25. When Utah hired Coach Jenkins there were some questions about whether he was ready for the jum in competition, there are no more Old Dominon's or South Alabama's on the conference schedule. Instead it's going to be USC, UCLA, Oregon and Stanford. Coach Jenkins won this round, but not before hid defense tried their hardest to give the game away.

USC opened up an 11 point lead twice, once at 21-10 and again with a last second TD before halftime to go up 28-17, but Utah made up the difference in the 3rd quarter and eventually opened up a 14 point lead on the Men of Troy. Troy McCormick led the way for the offense with 21 carries for 181 yards and 2 TD's, his counterpart in the backfield, Richard Lee, was the more explosive half of the duo and ripped off 5 carries for 122 yards. The Utah passing game was, to be polite, anemic; Utah totalled only 95 yards passing on the day, but the running game totalled 378.

USC had an unstoppable tailback in Issac. While Utah had 2 backs play well, USC only needed one. Issac was unstoppable early in the game, and he ripped off several big runs, before the Utah defense tightened up. Issac finished the day with 136 yards and 3 TD's on 22 carries and another 110 yards and a TD on 7 catches. USC ran almost double the number of plays that Utah did, and their QB finished 29/47 for 441 yards 4 TD's and 0 interceptions.

Utah got a big win at home before they take on the second Texas school on their schedule with North Texas and Coach qclassic 22 on the docket next week. Utah has the opportunity to take down several ranked teams next few weeks with #3 UCLA, and #21 Arizona, up after the Mean Green.

    UCF Takes Down FIU 31-19
UCF and FIU met for one of the most physical games of the season in a neutral site matchup down in Reliant Stadium. FIU's coaching staff came into the game with a specific plan: run the ball, run the clock, and cause turnovers. They accomplished all three of these goals, and almost pulled away with the win, if it weren't for the legs of UCF QB Pete Dinovo. FIU ran their signature power run game from the I-Form with pulling guards that really gave the smaller, faster 3-3-5 defense of UCF some trouble. FIU's coach said before the game: "what good is speed when a 350 pound lineman is turning the corner and hitting you in the jaw?!?" He lived up to that promise and FIU was able to have great success on the ground. UCF's defense finally stiffened up in the second half, realizing they needed their corners to help hold the edge so their Linebackers could meet the blocks head on and keep the RB inside the box. Once they slowed down the running attack, the FIU QB had a hard time finding receivers downfield. Once he took too long, he was sacked multiple times on the day. The FIU receivers were fairly successful in finding some space on quick-hitting routes, especially when they went 5 wide, but overall the passing game could not get them the W once they fell behind.

On offense, UCF moved the ball very well, but some costly turnovers in the redzone (2 INTS and a fumble) had them trailing in the 3rd quarter. Right when coach Ninety was considering benching Dinovo and bringing the true freshman in, he went to the coach and said "give me the ball on this drive, I'll get it in the endzone". He did exactly that, breaking the ball outside on the read option and getting first downs, then finally pounding the ball in the endzone when UCF needed it most. "Nothing can replace experience. Although he's not the most athletic QB on our depth chart, Pete is consistent and will get the job done when we need to count on him".

    POG: QB Pete Dinovo

GG SunofGod5 you definitely made me work for this one, I thought you were gonna get me once you took the lead off that bad option pitch-TD

    Recap FIU vs UCF

Had a chance to catch up with Coach Rowe after the game. And he had this to say "execution, execution the team with the best execution always win and today UCF executed." Coach Rowe also stated "in order for us to get quality wins we need to execute." "our defense played a hell of a game, (4 turnovers 2 FF and 2 Int). our offense just didn't show up this week going (6/12 on 3rd down conversation). we will practice all week on executing and prepare for Ohio.
