    Manning's Return Foiled by Patriots

Peyton is back, and this time he is wearing purple! Fitting, of course, that Peyton's first opponent since returning from retirement is his longtime nemesis: New England. Manning looked like the Manning of old in the beginning, completing his first 9 passes on the afternoon. That drive would end with 0 though, as rookie Rashad Lumpkin would make his impact known by forcing a fumble inside the redzone which was recovered by the Patriots. From there, it seemed like New England controlled the rest of the way as they were able to establish a decent running game behind Dominique Spencer which took some of the pressure off of Jimmy Garoppolo. Minnesota would climb back into the game in the fourth quarter, trailing 19-7, but a 98 yard pick 6 by rookie Adrain Culliver sealed the win.

good game Big Suge Knight .

Falcons Hang on for First Victory

Atlanta started the season off by welcoming the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Georgia Dome. Fans were antsy wondering what a team with 17 starters having played in the league for three seasons or less, including six rookies, would look like and how many mistakes would they make? The answer: Not Many!

The Falcons started the game by opening up a 21-0 lead, including a TD run by Dirone Brandon and two TD passes from Orlan Franklin to Brandon and Devonta Freeman. The Steelers showed some resolve by getting two FGs to make the score 21-6 at halftime.

The second half showed a little more of the youth of the team. In the 3rd quarter Steelers QB Rhodes hit TE Walker for the only TD of the period. Atlanta was only able to muster a FG. Fourth quarter Watkins showed his touch as he hit Freeman for a beautiful 32 yard TD up the sideline. The Steelers answered 4 plays later with a 57 yd TD throw to Archer making many Falcons look like college players with multiple missed tackles. The Steelers added another FG late to bring the score to 31-23.

The final back-breaker for the Steelers came at the 2:16 mark. In an attempt to finish the game, Atlanta went run heavy to chew clock. On this play Brandon tried to bounce out the left side to get yards. He was stacked up immediately. As he was going to the ground the ball popped out, Pittsburgh scooped it up and returned it for a 40 yard TD to get within two. As the Steelers lined up for the 2-point conversion attempt the booth radioed in the necessity of a review. Upon review it was determined that Brandon was down by contact and the ground caused the fumble. The Falcons returned to the field with ew life, and new determination. They proceeded to March down the field converting first down after first down to run the clock down and make Pittsburg use all of its timeouts. After two kneel downs to move the clock, Coach Read inexplicably sent the FG team on the field to add on an insult-to-injury FG as time expired. Asked after the game why, he responded "This team made a he'll of an effort to move that ball and get us in the red zone. In the red zone, we score points, noexception. We need to build confidence in ourselves and this helps us accomplish it." Final Score: Steelers 23 - Falcons 34

    Stats:
    QB Orlan Watkins 21/25 - 244 YDS - 3 TD - 0 INT - 0 SACK

The G-men go into Indy and pull out the victory as Luck throws away the game late in the 4th with two interceptions deep in their own territory .The newlyaquired starting quarterback Colin Kapernick did well in his first game in blue completing 21 of 30 passes for 277 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception while adding 19 yards on the ground. The Giants will face a familiar foe next week for their home opener against the Eagles in which they hope to avenge being swept last season.

Jets hang on against the Bills
If you havent watched a Bills-Jets game recently... Then shame on you. Despite the Jets winning their 5th straight in the series, the games always come down to the wire.

The Bills started with the ball and seemed to be driving until Calvin Pryor jumped a route inside the 5 picking off Foles. The Jets offense stormed down the field but couldn't execute inside the 5 and kicked a FG for a 3-0 lead for the only score of the quarter.

The second quarter opened with a 13 yard run for Simmons and the Bills took their first lead 7-3. The Jets answered on the next drive on a Jamal Charles TD reclaiming the lead 10-7. At around this point the Patriots coach joined the party and hexed the Jets as the Bills would tack on two TDs and take a commanding 21-10 lead with around 2 minutes left. The Jets answered on a Jamal Charles score and it seemed the game would go into half 21-17. Then Harvin was stripped, the ball bounced in the end zone with Buffalo recovering for a safety.

The Jets scored on their first drive of the half, reclaiming the lead 26-21. The Bills would answer back midway through the 3rd taking a 28-26 lead.

The Jets were able to force a couple Buffalo turnovers, one returned for a TD and took a 40-28 lead midway through the 4th. The Bills closed the gap but a 5th Foles pick and a couple first downs sealed the game for NY.

    49ers win 38-10

Matt Barkley shined in his debut completing over 60% of his throws finishing with 382 yards thru the air and 3 tds. The San Francisco defense was stout despite giving up several huge gains in the game. The Lions were held to 69 rushing yards on the day. 49er running back Coefield was held to 71 yards on 26 carries. He will need to raise that total in the next few weeks if the 9ers are to see any sustained success this season. GG Johnnyblaze

**SEASON NOTE ** Nassib was signed in FA to be the starter but once Barkley was picked up, his confidence has been through the roof due to his familiarity with the playbook. So #16 will command this offense until further notice.

EAGLES HOST JAGS IN SEASON KICKOFF

    tmfl14.JPG
Preparing for the worse the Jags started veteran QB Chase Daniel over Blake Bortles in order to preserve the young QBs mindstate. The switch paid off as Daniel tossed 3 interceptions early which lead to a big Eagles lead. The key guys for the Eagles didn't let down the hometown crowd; Guy & McCoy both added a total of 4 TDs. Player of the Game : LeSean McCoy 25 carries 113 yards 2 TDs

    Texans win on the road
The Texans would travel to Cinncinatti to face the Bengals, in what would be an even matchup on paper and the field. The game would come down to clock management at the end and the bengals would give the texans 42 seconds with no timeouts to drive the field up 3. The Texans would complete a deep pass to rookie Daven Paul to the 23 yard line with 28 seconds remaining they would complete another 3 passes with the TD pass to Tyrell Powell with 3 seconds left.

Dallas gets a 41 to 31 road win at St. Louis to start the season.

After finishing last season on a win streak but, still going 9-7 and missing the play offs the Cowboys wanted to do what they needed to get over the hump. They had the peices for a good offense last year but, struggled to move the ball. An opportunity to get Julio Jones during the offseason opened up and they took it. This gives them 3 #1 options in Jones, Bryant, and Witten. They also drafted a solid WR in the 4th round who is the new slot reciever. The OL is very good and Murray is still a solid RB. Star QB Brett Hudson should have everything he needs to have a career year.

The opening game was a good start. The Rams have a new coach and he has a history of having strong teams so this would be a good test. The Cowboys offense was hitting on all cylenders most of the game and they put up big offensive numbers and scored 41 points. Brett Hudson was able to just spread the wealth and hit the open man instead of forcing it to Dez or Witten. So far so good.

    Good game BRUCE80

    BEARS HOLD OFF DOLPHINS
In a game dominated by both defenses this one would come down to the last possession. Chicago led by 4th year QB Macon Stallworth headed into Miami a confident bunch. Starting off the game going up 14-0 an the defense playing simingly lights out, this one looked like it could get ugly. But the Dolphins would have other plans. Miami trailing 14-0 would score 14 unanswered against a stout Bears defense. With no momentum at all Chicago looked to there veteran QB on their last possession to drive them down for a game winning field goal. Miami would have 25 seconds left to answer but couldn't come up with the game tying field goal. Great game Big hitter13

    BEARS TAKE HOME OPENER
Coming off of a close win in Miami the Chicago Bears looked to kickoff the home opener in fashion an that is what they did. Firing on all cylinders Chicago looked to be as close to unstoppable on offense as they have ever looked. Macon Stallworth would lead the Chicago offense going 23/26 for 300 yards an 4 touchdowns. The running game was led by 2nd year player Louie Spriggs who ran it 13 times for 94 yards an a score. Chicago's offense did suffer a big blow when 2nd year All Pro running back Zeke French went down with a broken collar bone. The receiving corps was led by Martellus Bennett and Alshon Jeffrey 13 catches an 206 yards. The defense came into this game after a very nice performance last week in Miami an looked to back it up with another against the 49ers. Xavier Rhodes an Johnthan Banks would set the tone early with two picks. The defense would only allow 223 yards total an only 41 on the ground. Chicago looks to continue their winning ways when they head for a huge NFC matchup against Philadelphia.

Ravens Win first game of season

After another off season with many moves in Baltimore the ravens again traded picks to win now. After aquiting Desmond trufant and worrilow from the falcons and hiring a new defense coordinator the ravens came into the season with a new mindset. After having one of the better offenses in the league last season behind running back Morgan Carter the Ravens are no Kean in setting an example on defense. After playing in zero games last season either where the opponant or the ravens didn't score under 30 points the first game of the season saw both teams under the 30 mark.

The ravens were led by there new defense forcing 4 turnovers 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles and giving up zero defensive points. The offense was once again led by Morgan Carter who was held to a pedestrian 76 yards but scores two touchdowns on the day. Coach Wilson has said he would like to cut down on Carters touches this season to make sure he is 100% for the playoffs this season, and backup rb Terrance west will be more involved in the mix. The ravens take on Miami next week.

Patriots Make "Statement" Against Green Bay

For the past 2 seaons, the Patriots have been below average at best. They have put up some gaudy offensive numbers, but only to keep themselves in games where the defense has given up 35 points and 500 yards. A draft consisting of a pair of rookie corners seemed to signal a new era outside of Boston, and through one game the Patriots had shown a new focus on defense. That new focus showed during a 29-7 win over Minnesota last week. The detractors were quick to point out, though, that the team they had beaten had a weak-armed, old Peyton Manning and had not really competed for anything of value out of the NFC North. It was taken as a ho-hum performance.

This week, with Green Bay at home, the Patriots had their opportunity to make their claim for their first AFC East title since the Belichick era. The first quarter was ugly for both teams, as both Jimmy Garoppolo and Aaron Rodgers had 2 interceptions each. Running into the second quarter, neither team could find much offense which lead to a 9-6 Patriots lead at half. Rodgers continued to struggle into the third quarter, leading to him being benched in favor of Tony Romo. Romo did not do much better, as he would also throw two picks in the roughly 12 minutes of game action he saw. Garoppolo did what he needed to do, however which was manage the game efficiently. Finally the seal would be broken midway through the third with Garoppolo contecting with Faitele Dansby from 34 yards out to give the Patriots a 16-6 lead. After a three and out, the Patriots would return the ensuing punt 65 yards for a score that would put the game away. Green Bay would tack on a punt return TD of their own with about 20 seconds left, but the game had been decided by then. 29-12 final.

GG BrewBomber . Good luck the rest of the season.

Ravens sneak one against dolphins on road
After falling down 14-0 early in the third the ravens battled back scoring 21 in the second half to win 21-7.
The defense once again played great on a fumble recovery returned for a TD. Terrel suggs also led the defense with 3 sacks.

On o the ravens were once again led by Morgan carter with 23 carries 105 and a TD. Mike Wallace made his first splash in a ravens uniform leading the team in receiving.
Ravens get there first taste of AFC north action next week against the browns as they start a very tough stretch of their schedule.

Oh yea and CJ Mcneil finally comes back next week after a 56 week broken femur injury.

EAGLES GET FIRST WIN IN THE DIVISION by knocking off the NYG 26-13 in New Jersey.

The game was dictated by defenses from both teams the main difference was Philadelphia forcing 3 turnovers. David Wilson & JT Moon failed to establish a running game, leaving newly acquired QB Colin Kaepernick one dimensional. On the flip side T. Guy and McCoy put in enough work to put some points up on the board. The key turning point was a read option fumble by Kaep as we was hit while trying to pitch the ball. A scoop and score by linebacker M. Kendricks really took the wind out of the Giants sails.

PLAYER OF THE GAME : LB MYCHAL KENDRICKS 8 tackles, 1 FF, 1 TD

Texans protect their home field in a battle
The Bills would travel to Reliant Stadium for what was an amazing game. The teams would both throw and run the ball very well on their way to a high scoring hard hitting affair. Nick Foles would hit Sammy Watkins deep twice to keep the Bills in the game but with the consistent running of Mark Ingram and the occaisional great pass from Ryan Mallet the Texans would squeak this one out. The Bills would have several chances late but the Texans would hold strong on defense to keep their two field goal lead. Rookie Daven Paul the 1st round pick for the Texans would have a great game with a huge touchdown catch in the 3rd quarter.

Great game hskr8128 one of the best Ive played this cycle

POTG Hudson Blair 5-5 FG long of 57 yards and 3 extra points

Panthers get early season road win, 31-20 in Pittsburgh

In a game that saw nine turnovers, the Panthers managed to get the best of the TO battle late to pull this one out. Early on it looked like Carolina was in control, but some early fumbles kept them from opening a big league and then allowed the Steelers to pull ahead, taking a 20-10 lead into the half. After getting put in tough spots a few times in the first half leading to Steelers points, the Panthers D came up big in the second half giving the offense the chances they needed. A pair of TD passes from Cam Newton, one high in the back of the endzone inside the ten and the other on a sweet route that caught the Steelers in cover 0 for a long score gave the Panthers a 24-20 lead late. The Steelers offense finally found itself, driving its way down the field into scoring position on a drive that saw a pair of fourth down conversions, but disaster struck for the home team when Dri Archer took a huge shot and coughed up the ball and rookie CB Blue scooped up the loose ball and sprinted the other way for the critical TD to put them up two scores. An INT from fellow rookie CB Tillman iced the game.

    GG nellycuz
The fumbles were out of control on both sides, i'm glad I got the late ones that made the difference. GL the rest of the way.

Week 2 saw the detroit lions finally put together a solid game. Stafford played a int free game for the first time in a long time, although he did cough up a fumble it was recovered by his OL. The ground game got going behind 6'3" 252 lb rookie FB Mike Still. Lions rookie FS antjuan britt showed why he was selected 2nd overall displaying a nose for the ball collecting 1 int and 7 tackles. Although up big in the 4th the vikings gave the lions a scare as they mounted a feirce comeback that fellshort due to some timely ints and more than a few bad calls by the refs. If anything this win gives the fans of detroit a small glimmer of hope. They face the packers next week in another division game thats sure to be ugly.

Dallas goes to 2-0 after beating the Redskins 24-17

The Cowboys got off to a good start with a road win at St. Louis to open the season and now they get another road with at Washington. The Redskins did a good job of slowing down the Cowboys offense but, the Dallas defense did a good enough job to still get the win.

Brett Hudson had a good but, not great game. He was efficient and took care of the ball for the most part.

The player of the game for Dallas was Sean Lee who had 7 tackles and 2 int's.

Chargers get a win in Jacksonville 20-7

The battle of the two first round rb's was won by Diamond Reed and his 95 rushing yards. The chargers stuck with the run and went deep to Slaughter for 2 td's. hankerson had less than 2 yards a carry in 20 carries but tacked on a td.

Thor bolts had a lead all game but jax made it interesting in the fourth with a nice drive to bring the game within reach at 13-7... Slaughters 74 yard td sealed the deal.

Panthers Hang on to beat the Bucs 26-20 at Home

This game started with a Cam Newton INT but good defense had it looking a lot like a blowout early on. The Bucs kept coming though, capitalizing on a number of turnovers from the Panthers to tie the game at 17 early in the second half. Eventually the Panthers held a 23-20 lead late and a 4th down attempt for the Bucs resulted in a sack. After three plays and a pair of timeouts, the Panthers tacked on another FG and the Bucs had 45 seconds to drive the length of the field for the win. It certainly got interesting until an INT near the goal line sealed the deal.

The Cowboys improve to 3-0 after winning their home opener 30-13 against the Giants.

The Cowboys offense had a good day. They had a really effective balanced attack as Murray ran for over 100 yards and Hudson threw for 271 and 3 td with no ints. A few passes hit Giants defenders but, they couldn't catch any. Jason Witten was the player of the game for Dallas with 6 catches for 103 yards and 2 td. One of his TD's was pretty amazing as he caught a pass and threw a Giants player off with a stiff arm and ran all the way for a 48 yard TD.

Good game ptsbx1 , hang in there Bro.
