Pre-Game The Gators(0-0) host this cross-conference match-up against the Auburn Tigers (0-0). The Gators will look to get the ball into (RS)Senior Kent Taylor hands as he is their play maker and only receiver Xavier Johnson has faith in. First Quarter The Tigers receive the ball to open the game. The opening drive for the Tigers goes nowhere and they settle for a disappointing 3 & out. After the fine defensive effort, X.Johnson throws his first pass into the arms of an Auburn defender. The Tigers drive stalls and settle for a long 50yard field to take the 3-0 lead. On the Gators 2nd drive of the game, X. Johnson gets going a little bit hitting Kent Taylor on a double move for a 45yard TD. 7-3 Gators. On the following drive, Auburn QB Nathan Graham drives the Tigers down to the 1 and HB Chad Sims punches it in for a TD. 10-7 Tigers. Second Quarter HB Matt Jones scores a rare 10yard TD run to complete the first half scoring. 14-10 Gators at the half. Both teams traded INT's to close the half. Third Quarter The Gators start the second half off i think with an INT. Auburn follows that up with another pass down to the 1 and as before, Chad Sims picks up his second 1yard TD run of the day. 17-14 Tigers. Following another Gator INT, Auburn add to their lead with a 48yard FG. 20-14 Tigers. Fourth Quarter The Gators fire off a nice drive and work down to the Tigers 1. Xavier Johnson finds Kent Taylor for his second TD of the game as Auburn came with a full blitz. 21-20 Gators. The Tigers following drive is derailed following a first down sack that they could not overcome and are forced to punt. The Gators with a chance to close out the game get several key third down conversions just at the sticks, with the last coming when Auburn was out of time outs and allowed the Gators to run out the clock for the 21-20 victory. Post Game Summary Xavier Johnson 18 of 25, 228yards, 2/4 TD/INT Matt Jones 44yards, 15carries, 1 TD Kent Taylor 139yards, 8catches, 2 TD Team 8 of 10 3rd Down, 189 Total yards against.
Southern Miss turns the ball over 5 times (4 INT, 1 Fum), and LSU rides to an easy victory. #20 LSU 59 - Southern Miss 6
Mizzou gets 6 turnovers (5 INTs and 1 Fumble) against South Carolina en route to a 70-7 victory. The backups went in with about 4 minutes left in the 3rd.
SatansAngel1104 Good game man. Just couldnt come up with a 3rd down stop on that last drive when I needed it. Was bumed we disconnected in that first game as my offense was playing much better but im glad we got the game in. Good luck in the SEC East.
Yeh we have the voodoo curse so far. (1 was EA). I think both of our offenses were playing better. I think it may have been our defenses were playing worse... from the rain.
UK 12 #22 Alabama 24 The Ron Zoinked era did not get off to a great start against Kentucky. The new offense did not impress the fans as Richard Scott threw three picks, to enable Kentucky to stick around. Luckily for the Tide the running game showed up. TJ Yeldon rushed for 72 yards and scored 1 touchdown. For the game the Tide gained 117 yards on the ground and scored 2 rushing TDs. The big key of the game was Kentucky not being able to convert on third down, on their first 10 third downs of the game, they were unable to convert.
#17 Michigan State 7 #22 Alabama 52 Well, that didn't take long, for the first five quarters the new offense was struggling, then the second quarter against MSU occurred. Alabama scored 35 points in the quarter as MSU simply had no answer. The scoring started off with TJ Yeldon scoring on a 2 yard run, then QB Richard Scott ran into the end zone on a 10 yard run. The defense scored as well as SS Curtis Henry intercepted a pass and return it 39 yards for a score. Then the TE Kurt Freitag scored a TD on a 47 yard pass. The final score of the quarter was another 2 yard TJ Yeldon run. For the game MSU turned the ball over 6 times as true freshman Brian Guerro intercepted 2 passes.
Tennessee Rolls La Tech Tennessee 70 Louisiana Tech 0 I dont think this needs too much of a write up. Tennessee was simply too fast and too strong for Louisiana Tech. Miami Offense Sloppy in Win Defeat Cougars 31-14 The Miami offense did not look like the fine tuned machine that it was hyped up to be. Luckily, they were playing the Houston Cougars who were unable to take advantage of turnovers. Miami opened up a 14-0 first quarter lead behind a 41 yard QB Christian Smith TD pass to WR Lamar Christensen. On Houston's ensuing possession, All-American FS Kurt Covington would take an interception 86 yards for a touchdown. With the 14 point lead, it looked as if the Canes would blow the game wide open, but turnovers kept Houston in the game. The Cougars would get a touchdown back after intercepting Smith in Miami territory to cut the lead to seven near the end of the first quarter. Though Miami would add to their lead on HB Randy Johnson's 11 yard TD run, the offense would struggle until midway through the fourth quarter. Another Smith interception late in the third allowed Houston to crawl back to 21-14 as the home crowd began to get excited. Fortunately for the Canes offense, the Miami defense was up to the task, led by four interceptions by CB Barry Sisk to thwart the Cougar surge. The Canes offense would wake up in time to score the final 10 points of the game and win 31-14. Notable Stats QB Christian Smith - 25/32, 338 yards, 2 TD, 4 INT HB Randy Johnson - 13 car, 92 yards, TD, long 25 WR Malcolm Lewis - 7 rec, 105 yards, long 31 WR Lamar Christensen - 5 rec, 82 yards, TD, long 41 CB Barry Sisk - 2 tack, 4 INT FS Kurt Covington - 2 tack, INT, TD
Arkansas 41 FSU 24 Robbins Leads Arkansas to Victory The game opened with a first play run for a 75 yard TD by Mario Pender. Pender exploded through the hole and with just a tiny lead no one on the speedy arkansas defense could catch Pender in a foot race. Arkansas came back with a long TD drive, the key play may have been on a 3rd and 3 QB read Robbins kept the ball and was hit by a defender in the backfield, but then carried that defender 5 yards on his back for the first down. While Arkansas offense continued to move the ball, FSU struggled in the passing game. DE David Edwards know by his teammates as "The DE" Tore the FSU Right tackle apart all game. This resulted in 2 sacks but FSU QB Jameis Winston quickly developed happy feet. Even when the Guard or HB picked Edwards up, Seeing the big 265 lbs DE charging through the right tackle drove Winston out of the pocket. With no were to run Winston sprinted out toward the sidelines and forced some off balance throws. While he had a couple successes out of the pocket most of his passes were way off target and late in the game Winston took a fumble and an INT trying to make a play on the run. FSU closed the gap in the second half after an 86 yard Fumble return to cut the lead to 3. But in the end there was just too much Michael Robbins for the defense to handle. Robbins made 3 or 4 bad throws but FSU could not secure any of them for INTS which may have been the difference in the game. ARK, Robbins: 11/16 228 yards 1 TD, 20 carries for 180 yards and 3 TD FSU, Pender: 13 Carries 151 yards 1 TD gg
Auburn - 48 Mississippi State -14 Auburn gets their first win under new head/spy Mike F'ing Leach, taking down the Bulldogs in convincing fashion. Auburn out gained MSU 540 to 224 on the day and forced 5 interceptions. Freshman QB Graham played flawless, completing 13 of 15 passes for 283 yards and 4 TD's without turning the ball over. The 2nd team started the 2nd half and held serve. Next week, Auburn has its 3rd straight road game, traveling to Texas to face Texas State. Should be a dousy Auburn Stats QB Graham 13/15 283 Yards, 4 TD, 0 INT HB Chad Sims 9 Carries, 61 Yards, 1 TD WR Ja'quy Williams 4 Catches, 63 Yards, 1 TD
Georgia 48 Miami 41 The defenses didn't show up in Athens today, as these two teams combined for nearly 1,200 yards on the day. Miami had multiple blown coverages and Georgia couldn't tackle. The game came down to 2 onside kicks, both kicked well short of the 10 required yards, both (surprisingly) recovered by the Bulldogs. Miami QB Christian Smith 18-28, 413 yards, 2 TD, 3INT Georgia QB Courtney Williamson 14-23, 385 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT Good game Boom29.
Missouri 49 Oklahoma 0 This game was only 28-0 after 3 quarters, but the Missouri backups wanted to get their licks in and dropped 21 fourth quarter points on the rival Sooners. The only bad news for the Tigers was that #1 WR Kenan Fenner went down with an injury that could sideline him for as many as two or three games. Marvin Cooper stepped smoothly into his shoes, catching 5 passes for 101 yards and a TD, so the coaching staff doesn't seem particularly worried. Backup QB Jason Jones had an interesting day. First, with Fenner's injury he found himself thrust into the role of #3 WR and he responded with 3 catches for 71 yards. Then, in the 3rd quarter with the game in hand he went in as the QB, ran the ball 3 times for 32 yards and a TD and competed 5 of 6 passes for 53 yards. All that work on offense was impressive, but Jones is also the Dime corner and managed to record an INT as well, which he nearly returned for a TD, but was forced out after a 23 yard return.
Canes Rebound Defeat Gamecocks 58-7 The Miami Hurricanes wasted no time putting behind their loss to the Georgia Bulldogs as they took South Carolina to the woodshed. The Canes scored on their opening possession en route to 52 first half points. In turn, the Miami defense shutout the Gamecock offense over the first three quarters. Notable Stats QB Christian Smith - 14/16, 170 yards, 2 TD HB Randy Johnson - 13 car, 108 yards, 3 TD WR Lamar Christensen - 6 rec, 58 yards, TD CB Vernon Davis - 2 tack, INT, TD
LSU easily handles SEC East foe Kentucky. Clark goes 18-22 for 289 yards and 3 TDs. HB Brothers had the hot hand on the ground, as he led with 93 yards on 13 carries. The defense didnt allow a score until the 4th with the backups and only gave up 151 yards. #18 LSU 41 - Kentucky 7
BYU 21 #17 Bama 25 In a very close game, Alabama was able to pull this one out. Using freshman quarterbacks are very risky because you never know what you are going to get. Scott for the most part played very well, but for most of the game Bama couldn't pull away from the Cougars. Richard Scott opened the scoring with a TD pass to tight end Justin Grisby. However, Scott was on the wrong end of the play of the half. With the Tide driving late in the half Scott ran a speed option and pitched the ball to a BYU defender killing a scoring opportunity, while BYU was able to convert the turnover to a touchdown. Then BYU was able to get a touchdown to start the half, while the Tide only managed a field goal in the third quarter. Then disaster struck with another BYU touchdown making the score 21-10. The Tide offense finally got going in the fourth quarter with David Jones catching a 53 yard TD pass. Then Bama was able to force a turnover, and then marched the ball down the field leading to Richard Scott throwing a 12 yard TD pass to Amari Cooper to win the game.
Sorry I haven't posted much lately fellas. So, so busy with kids and child support and the girlfriend always has the computer. Won my first 3 games against South Carolina, Arizona and Oklahoma St quite handily. Didn't play well against Zona, but it's good to get the craps out before Whygod comes knocking in week 6
Georgia 42 FSU 23 As we've done since our season 3 debacle against the 'Noles, the Bulldogs came out in this one looking to throw early and throw often, so that Kapono 's stick skills at usering the MLB through the line would be a bit less of a factor. QB Courtney Williamson continued to be on point in this one, and picked apart the FSU secondary to the tune of 15-22 passing for 325 yards and 5 TD's (he had 2 INT's as well). He also added 42 yards rushing. HB Titus Graham made plays when the opportunities presented themselves, gaining 67 yards on 10 carries and adding 32 yards receiving. MLB AJ Cade led the D with 10 solo tackles, as the Seminoles ran far more than we expected and were effective with the run game. The DL racked up 6 sacks on the day though and forced FSU to keep extra men into block, which allowed the LB's to play the middle of the field and disrupt plays. Good game kapono.
Mizzou 59 Illinois 0 Backup QB Jason Jones threw a TD pass, ran for a TD, caught a TD pass, and had an INT in the game as Mizzou crushed their state-line rival. The backups played the entire second half, HB Erik Curry left the game in the third but is expected back next week, 3rd string HB Matt Miller suffered a serious injury though and will possibly miss the rest of the regular season. The Tigers defense played incredible, holding Illinois to a net of 25 yards on offense in the shutout.
Another team from Kentucky, another W for the Tigers. Clark goes 12-15 180 yards and 3 scores in one half of play. PR Wilson takes back to back punts for TD's and also recovers a fumble. #15 LSU 59 - Western Kentucky 7
Mississippi St hangs tough with the Tigers at home. Every Tiger score was met with a Bulldog answer. The running of Henry really kept the defense off balance and forced them to not be as aggressive. But in the end Clark was too much for them. He threw for 206 yards with 3 TDs and ran for another 105 yards with 2 TDs.The defense shut down the 4th quarter with 2 4th down stops deep in their own territory to seal it. #13 LSU 38 - Mississippi St 24
Mizzou 69 Tulsa 14 Early on Mizzou found themselves behind. Maty Mauk's first pass was a pick 6, which he followed with another first quarter INT and then also fumbled a ball which Tulsa scooped up and ran in for a score. Oddly enough, the 2 INTs from Mauk were his only incompletions on the day. Eric Silva and Erik Curry each went over 100 yards rushing, Silva in the first half and Curry in the second, including a highlight reel 15 yard TD run where he was smacked behing the line, bounced off of the tackle, shook another tackler off and then spun out of a crowd into space (uploaded to the wire if anyone cares). The Mizzou defense kept the opposing team scoreless (on offense) for the third straight game, continuing their dominance.
Ole Miss 10 #17 Alabama 42 Alabama rode Richard Scott's arm to victory as he threw four touchdown passes as the Tide defeated the Ole Miss Rebels. The offense came out clicking as they 21 points in the first half. The running game also made a strong appearance as TJ Yeldon rushed for 100 yards exactly and scored a touchdown as well. Ole Miss really couldn't get anything going as starter Chad Carter struggled going 7-26 for only 151 yards.
Backlogged on this a bit Arkansas 45 Alabama 10 Roll Hogs! Arkansas jumps all over Alabama behind big days from QB Robbins and DE David Edwards. Edwards add 3 sacks to his growing total and Robbins was nearly perfect putting up 195 yards on 13/16 passing with 3 TDs while rushing for 82 yards and 2 more TDs. Alabama ran the ball pretty well with there HB but 3rd down was unkind to the Tide.
