Beavers New Offense Rusty in Sunny L.A. The Oregon State Beavers traveled to Los Angeles this week, week 5 of the regular season, to take on the undefeated UCLA Bruins. The last time they played, the Bruins were running the Air Raid, the Beavers the 4-3; they were perfect strangers. Bruins HB Jacob Riley got off to a fast start, when on the opening drive he took his team down the field on a 55 yard run, and for a touchdown to take the lead. Both teams would trade possessions, and then Oregon State on third down would complete a pass to WR Manning, who would convert and then cough up the ball right into anxious Bruins' defenders hands. The Bruins would convert on the drive with a field goal, WR Manning would cough it up later in the game as well, giving him 2 fumbles. The rest of the half would lean in the Bruins favor, as 10 more points were scored, giving the Bruins a 20-0 lead at the half over the Beavers. The second half would be a different story for the Bruins offense, as they were only able to muster one field goal; meanwhile the struggling Beaver offense pieced together two scoring drives, giving them 10 points. The playcalls were there for the Beavers, but the performers just didn't, well, perform. Manning dropped too many open passes, and the Oregon State secondary found themselves in a place they weren't familiar with, the wrong spot. With the win, the Bruins cruise to 4-0, 3-0 in the PAC-12, and the Beavers fall to 2-2, and 0-1 in the PAC-12.
