Senior Wideout Mike Craig fresh off injury returns for his Senior season as a Heisman Candidate.
#12 IOWA: 57
#24 HAWAII: 28
The Warriors came out hard as fuck in the first quarter jumping to a quick 14-0 lead. I was moderately worried as I was unable to stop their run and shoot offense. The Iowa offense continued to dominate with the return of SR WR Mike Craig. Mike pulled in 8 catches for 156 yards with a TD. SR QB John Lindsey got his first career start after waiting patiently on the bench for 4 seasons. He completed 15/20 for 274 yards with 2 TD's. Then suddenly he was shook in the 3rd quarter, sidelining him. After the game the trainers notified Coach Frisk he would be out for 6 weeks with a strained back. Its sad to see such a hard worker lose out on a freak accident. RSFR Lucas Barret took the snaps the rest of the 3rd quarter, completing 6 of 12 passes. Lucas was very rattled and made some good throws but also some terrible ones. He will get the start the next few weeks and will emerge into a premier QB. JR RB Patrick Townsend is now the starter for the Hawkeyes. He carried the ball 18 times for 149 yards with an impressive 4 TD's.
Hawkeyes enjoying the island. Nice pic man.
thanks bob, Craig was saying GTFOM
Texas Cruises to First Victory
The Texas Longhorn football team embarked on a new era today against Boston College. The Longhorns not only had a new coach, but they had backfield. QB Jeff Tanner has now taken the reigns of the Longhorns. In his first game as starter, Tanner completed nearly all his passes without committing any turnovers. The run game however is a different story, both Halfbacks that played struggled in the opening game of the season. It is still up in the air at who will be the full time starter. On defense, the Longhorns held BC to zero points until middle of the fourth quarter. DE Marcus Hill had 2 sacks and a 71 yard fumble return for a TD on the afternoon. Hill would score the TD in the final seconds of the first half. Overall the Longhorns really showed they were the better team, but the run game does worry the coaching staff. Next up for Texas is the TCU Horned Frogs.
Looks great Bob! Way to be creative

First Win a Close OneTalley, Nebraska manages to edge Minnesota by a hair in season debut. Ryan Talley scores with seconds to go in the game. Nebraska starts the 7th season off under a new head coach formerly from LSU, controllerabuser. Also known as CA, he brings in the old fashioned "Nebraska" way of football. Run the ball and play defense. The Huskers did just that as they looked to get back on track and try to make a run at the Big 12.The Gophers scored first as they marched down the field putting together a very good drive. It scared the Husker coaching staff but we just took it one snap at a time. I believe we punted and then held the Gophers before we scored. The stop we managed to get gave us some confidence and momentum. The score was 7-7 as the Golden Gophers looked to take the lead as they got the ball into Nebraska territory. However, the game would be changed as OLB Andrew Lewis intercepted the ball and took it to the house for an 89 yard score. Minnesota would answer back with a score of their own to tie the ball game. Nebraska threw an interception but got it right back as Jeff Spurlock picked off the Golden Gopher QB. Which in turn, set up a 3 yard rushing touchdown by Ryan Talley. This touchdown gave the Cornhuskers their 1st victory under the new head coach to start the seventh season of Saturday Heroes! We obviously don't have a lot of "playmakers" or break out talent but you have to play with what you got. I do like some of our players and they made big plays today. Ryan Talley looks to have a good year as he started off with 18 carries for 90 yards and 1 touchdown. Our #2 receiver, Blake Wheeler, went down with an injury in the 1st quarter and he looks to be a go-to-guy. The #1 guy, Michael Williams had 5 catches for 66 yards. The defense isn't great but we have some pieces right now in the linebacking core and the safety positions. Only time will tell how this team can do.Andrew Lewis takes it to the house to give the Cornhuskers some "mo". Jeff Spurlock shows his Revis island impersonation as he gives the Big Red the ball inside the 40.
Arkansas St vs Alabama
Tuscaloosa- The Alabama Crimson Tide came out and brabdished their muscle early in the game as they jumped out to a 49-3 halftime lead. Seven different players scored td's for The Tide including 3 from HB Mark Bracken, 2 from the defense and 1 on special teams. Alabama only attempted 9 passes on the day so, Coach Forever is still in limbo about his teams ability to get the ball down the field if need be. The running game, however, didn't disappoint as Bama rolled up 200+ yds with mulitiple players getting touches. Bama wins their 7 consecutive season opener under Coach Forever. Next week, Bama faces new Coach Radio and his new look Buffaloes out of Colorado.

Lions Survive Ramblin' Wreck 21 13The Nittany Lions opened their season with a trip to Atlanta to take on the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech. PSU started off the scoring with a TD pass to Zac Carter from 7 yards out. HB Evan Davis would find the endzone later in the first on a 6 yard run, giving Penn State a 14-0 lead after 1. Georgia Tech would rally behind the home crowd and tack on 3. On the ensuing drive, PSU HB Davis would get rocked and fumble the football, where Yellow Jacket Hand picked up the rock and took it 15 yards for the TD to bring GT within 4. GT would tack on another FG in the 3rd, but the Nittany Lions defense would hang on, and HB Davis would break a 23 yard run with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd to give PSU a 21-13 edge and the W, 21-13. OVER SO SOON?Gators blow an 8 point lead and lose in overtime to the hated Canes.30-24POST GAME PRESSERCoach Sdid, what happened you guys had control of that game until the final minute? We didnt play til the final buzzer so we lost. Gotta make plays in the clutch and we did not.In the preseason you named Hall the starter and he was benched at the half, what is going on at the qb position? We need a QB that will hit wide open receivers for touchdowns, Its been that way at Florida forever so whoever cn figure out how to do that can have the damn job. What broke down in the defense in the final minute and that last play of overtime? When you have as many opportunities to turn a team over and you drop picks, you give them one more bullet to kill you with and thats what happened. You seem very negative, whats your outlook? We will be fine. Is Billy Napier's job as OC safe?We dont address staff changes until the offseason. talk to me then.
CSU HB Nicholson sheds a tackle on his way to a 67 yd TD run.
Colorado faced its in-state rival Colorado St in what was supposed to be step 1 in rebuilding it's dilapidated program. After a qtr and a half and seeing his team fall behind 21-0, new CU head coach Radio new this would be is biggest challenge to date. The Buffs would put together a solid drive to end the half and cut the lead 21-7 in the closing seconds.
The 3rd qtr saw the teams trade punts until CU finally got some field position and were able to capitalize with a 17 yard TD run by 3rd string HB B. Butler. The CU defense continued it's stellar 2nd half play and gave the offense a chance to tie late in the 4th. A long methodical drive that Coach Radio had envisioned his team excelling at finally came. Sophomore HB and 4th stringer Corey Hines punched in a 1 yard TD to tie the game at 21. CSU went 3 and out and CU actually had 40 seconds to get into FG range but were unable to do so.
The first OT went exactly as the Buffs would hope. CSU was sacked and forced into a long FG try which they missed. CU runs and sets up a game winning 36 yard FG....WIDE RIGHT. The teams traded FG's in the second OT. CSU's offense finally awoke and easily punched in a TD and 2 PT conversion in the 3rd. CU answered but was stuffed on the 2 PT try. Final: CSU 32 - CU 30.

Big Red Get Past IlliniClarke and the Cornhuskers are relieved after a near mishap against Illinois. The Nebraska Cornhuskers traveled back to Lincoln to face the Illinois Fighting Illini in Memorial Stadium. The stands were packed as fans gathered for the season's home opener. As stated by one fan, "the stands haven't been this packed in a long time". The atmosphere was back and rocking in Lincoln as the Cornhuskers showed again, gritty defense and the ability to run the football. This game was never really in doubt. The Illini made their first mistake on an interception which set up a field goal for the Cornhuskers. The story of the day was the Nebraska bend but don't break defense as it allowed the Illini inside field goal range but never gave up the touchdown. One bad move by the head coach resulted in Brett Phillips' only interception. The coach tried to audible to a pass from a run because of the blitz and the Illini made us pay. Ryan Talley got it going again even though he isn't rated very high, he is a play-maker and doesn't give up. Talley carried 22 times for 139 yards while his back-up Lance Gandy ran 11 times for 54 yards and 1 touchdown. Connor Landry came out of the blue with 2 receptions and looks to be a guy we can rely on to get a first down. Andrew Lewis led the defense with 8 tackles and was all over the field today. The Huskers face their first real test when they welcome a very tough Iowa Hawkeye team next week led by Coach Frisk.Spurlock makes a sack while blitzing.
Texas Starts Fast, Hangs on for WThis game was a showdown of two Texas teams that are always in the top 25. The Texas Christian Horned Frogs came to DKR to battle our beloved Longhorns. What they got was a rout right from the start, QB Jeff Tanner started off hitting his first 12 passes, including 2 Touchdown passes. But he somehow after a small injury he would finish the day missing a ton of his passes. Tanner did finish with 3 touchdown passes and a rush td. HB Jon Miller has emerged as the starter, and a minature Ricky Williams, without the dreads. Miller rushed for 91 yards and a TD. On defense MLB Shane Weber had 7 solo tackles. The troublesome thing about this game is when the second team came in, they gave up 20 unanswered fourth quarter points. Next week we have a bye, but will be preparing for them damn Wolverines
BACK ON TRACKCHIP ALEXANDER GETS THE GATOR OFFENSE ROLLING EARLY
The Florida Gators overcame the first game heart breaker and drill rival Tennessee 45-24. 14 of those vol points came in the fourth quarter during Gator mop up time. Five different Gators scored TD's in this one. Curt Underwood threw three TD's. Kevin Schroeder rushed for a TD and over 100 yards. Chip Alexander, David Timmons, and Tommy Reid caught TD passes. The Gator defense was bend but dont break. They intercepted the Vols 3 times and Jamie Bell stepped up and filled in for injured TJ Jones coming away with 10 tackles. The Gators take on Auburn next week.
DRAWLSKevin Schroeder leaves a UT defenders panties on the turf.
Big Red Does It AgainNebraska finds a way to win, 24-7. Spurlock gets his 2nd interception of the year.Nebraska welcomed Coach Frisk and the #10 Iowa Hawkeyes into Lincoln today and somehow walked away with a big time victory to put this program back on the map. After years of irrelevancy, this program is back on track. Nebraska would have a 17-0 lead at one point in this game. A couple of turnovers and brilliant play by the Cornhuskers led to a victory.Michael Williams went off with 4 catches for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns. The play by Williams made Brett Phillips' day easier as he ended up with 202 yards passing with 2 touchdowns but 2 interceptions. The run game was horrid today, Ryan Talley ran 21 times for a measly 51 yards while Lance Gandy rushed 11 times for 38 yards and a score. The ball floats into Michael Williams' hands.

BUFFS GET WIN #1
Colorado's season took a turn for the better after a nice performance against the woeful Cowboys of Wyoming. CU jumped out to a quick 21-0 1st qtr lead and extended it to 35-7 at halftime. The 2nd stringers coasted through the 2nd half and closed out the game 38-14.
CU QB Nelson, who has missed time in every game to injury, had a great day with 247 yards and 2 TD's on 13-17 passing. RB Scott had much more productive day averaging 5.1 YPC on 12 carries. Backup Butler was productive as well with 20 carries for 107 yards and 2TD's. WR Rogers reeled in 7 catches for 145 and 2TD's.
A solid win even against lackluster competition for the Buffs (1-2, 0-0). Next week is a bye before Big 12 play begins with CU heading to Columbia to face Missouri.
#4 OHIO STATE TAKES CARE OF #16 OKLAHOMA, 51 - 25
Buckeye WR David Brewer celebrates after returning a Sooner punt 72 yards for a TD.NORMAN, Ok -- After losing multiple offensive weapons from last season, including Heisman trophy winner Joey Wilkerson and star QB Mark Robertson, Ohio State was hoping that some of their young and highly touted recruits would step in and fill those huge shoes. So far through the early stages of the season, the young Buckeyes have done exactly that. Lead by QB Cornelius Allen (taking over for the injured Jose Warren), the young Bucks easily handled the #16 Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma. Allen passed for 337 yards and 4 touchdowns on 13 - 25 passing to lead the offense. Sophomore WR 6'4 Anton Harrison caught three passes for 120 yards and 2 scores.
The play of the game was David Brewer's 72 yard punt return to give the Bucks a 48 - 18 lead in the 3rd Quarter. Brewer broke 4 tackles and dodge 2 others in his first career punt return. PLAYER OF THE GAME - QB Cornelius AllenFUTURE STAR? So far this season, Sophomore WR Anton Harrison has done a decent job of replacing Joey Wilkerson.

He went for 155 yards on just 18 carries and punched it in twice. He got a sputtering offense going with a 79 yard scamper out of the Wildgator formation. He found creases and beat the first defender all day. QB curt Underwood threw for 220 with a TD and a pick. Chip Alexander the heralded sophomore caught the TD pass. The Gators struggled vs the no huddle attack but picked off the Auburn QB twice. Charles Paris got his early and took it in for six. Who said it couldn't be done?Texas lucky to win in the Big House
Today the Texas Longhorns began to prove that this team could be special. The Longhorns outlasted Michigan in the Big House on a beautiful afternoon. In a game of attrition, the Longhorns went up first when Jason Edwards kicked a 52 yard FG to put UT up 3-0 in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Not to be outdone, Michigan would come right back. After QB Gerald Greene went down due to injury, the back up came in and proved he was viable with his legs. QB Evan Downs busted up the gut for a 70 yard TD run. Texas would get the ball with less than 2 minutes to go and QB Jeff Tanner showed he is going to be a superstar. He engineered a drive that ended when he hit WR Bob Duncan for a 51 yard score. The Longhorns would get an interception on the next drive and kick a FG to end the half. 13-7.
The Wolverines came out swinging in the third quarter when once again QB Evan Downs rushed for a TD. This time it was a broken play where Downs was able to break free and score from 14 yards out. Michigan goes up 14-13, but this would be the last time the Wolverines led. Texas would start off the fourth quarter with a TD run by HB Brandon Schmidt. Then late in the quarter Jason would add his third FG of the day, to put the Longhorns up 22-14. Michigan couldn't muster any offense down the stretch and the Longhorns are relieved to get out of town..GG JCA.
