I could tell, I just don't know why, we were like a minute into the game, its not like it was over. It was kinda funny, your mic was on so I heard you yelling and cursing on that pick. Then you basically stopped trying.
Mizzou beats Tennessee but suffers injury The Tigers won pretty easily over the Vols, but star HB Nick Cannon broke his collarbone in the contest and will miss the remainder of this season. That means he will be unavailable against TAMU and coach Jayrah as well as the conference title game (if mizzou makes it there) and a bowl game. Cannon is a Junior listed as the teams #2 HB but plays a huge role in the offense actually leading the team in rushing this season. Cannon may have played his last game for the Tigers, he is a 95 OVR and could declare early, time will tell.
Yep. Wasn't in the mood for Being EA'd again so just wanted to get the game over. The throw was a joke. It would've just been more of the same.
Mizzou 38 TAMU 0 Aggies are no match for a hot Mizzou team. Early on this looked like a defensive struggle as the teams traded 3 and outs and punts. The first score of the day came on TAMU's second punt of the ballgame. Scott Sullivan fielded the kick, took a couple steps up and then cut outside towards daylight, TAMU's gunner had made a poor read and Sullivan had space to run! Sullivan turned on the jets with his world class speed and went 71 yards for a 7-0 lead for the Tigers, it was Sullivans 5th PR TD of the season (2 vs users). The Aggies offense continued to sputter, but the defense still played strong, holding Mizzou to a long, 55 yard FG after a 3 and out for a 10-0 ballgame after the first quarter. The Aggie's woes on offense continued in the second quarter, but their stingy D held fast.... until the last minute of the half. The Tigers went full on no huddle and marched downfield to score a TD on an 11 yard pass with just seconds left before the break. 17-0 at the half. The third quarter started with TAMU having the ball, but just as the first half had gone, they couldn't get anything going. Here in the 3rd quarter the Mizzou HB tandem of Erik Curry and Scott Sullivan caught fire. Sullivan had scored on the PR earlier and added a 50 yard run to set up a short TD pass as well as a 66 yard screen pass reception for a TD while Curry ripped off a number of nice runs including a 43 yard TD. Time and again in the second half, Mizzou's HBs would turn what looked like nothing into something, shrugging off or tossing aside TAMU tacklers. After 3 quarters it was 38-0 Tigers. In the fourth the Aggies finally got a drive going, after being pinned inside the five, they finally crossing the 50 for the first time with a 50 yard run by their star HB. Looking to avoid the shutout they moved the ball through the air but QB Muhammed completely missed a DT dropping into coverage and threw the Aggies third INT of the day deep in Tigers territory. On the day, Mizzou recorded 3 INTs and 6 sacks while forcing 5 fumbles, though all 5 were recovered by TAMU.
Arkansas 31 Missouri 28 Unbelievable Finish to SEC Title Game Arkansas had a rough first half with a few 3 and outs. The Arkansas running game was stuffed, and Mizzou Pass rusher racked up 8 sacks in the game. Ronald Moore took a 2 quarter injury early and did not return until the 4th Quarter. Missouri had too long TD drives to score 14 points in the first half, but Arkansas kept it close thanks to a great field position after 2 Mizzou turn overs inside there own 30 yard line. Before the half Arkansas finally put a good drive together but a sack with 10 seconds remaining and no timeouts prevented a FG before the half. Missouri took a 14-10 lead into the half. In the second half, Arkansas changed tactics trying to force Missouri out of there aggressive defensive play calling and open up the running game again. Faced with frequent pressure, and alot of single coverage the razorbacks started throwing it up for grabs down field. Relying on on there tall and talented WRs and TEs to pull down passes in coverage, and they did not disappoint. Nearly catching everything they could get their hands on no matter the traffic or impending hit. Big 6-7 TE Pat Valentine even caught a deep ball over the middle while being knocked out of the game with a concussion. The points started coming in for Arkansas but the defense was not fairing any better. The teams exchanged scores until Missouri had the ball down 3 with under 4 minutes to go. Facing 4th down and 8 mizzou rolled the dice. With everyone covered the Tiger QB forced the ball into a slant route but the defender stepped in front to bat the ball away. In a shocking twist the NCAA gods turned away from Arkansas and the deflected pass fluttered its way into the Missouri WRs hands keeping the drive alive. Missouri cruised the rest of the field to take a a 4 point lead with a little over a minute to play. The NCAA gods turned away from Arkansas again, stifling their next drive with a false start and pulling back a 3rd down conversion with a holding call. Arkansas failed on forth down and missouri took the ball in FG range and at worse would give the ball back to Arkansas(2TOs) with 20 seconds down 7 after a FG. On the second play the NCAA gods remembered who they truly love and Star Senior HB Erik Curry fumbled on a big hit giving arkansas the ball down 4 with 50 seconds remaining. 2 plays later blown zone coverage left WR Quinton Fowler Wide open for a 48 yard game winning TD. Mizzou failed to equalize with a FG in the last 30 seconds, and Arkansas advances to the National Title Game.
That game was nuts..... The fumble at the end was epic fail for us, without that I am pretty sure we win. The cherry on top for arky is that I run 3 deep coverage and there isn't a soul in sight near his WR in the seam..... Not sure that I could have played any better, those user catches were just crazy, WGW was automatic, 1, 2, 3 defenders nearby, didn't matter. Helluva game man!
Zone players become distracted by other WRs and will allow Wide open people who enter there zone from the other side. Its just more painful when it happens to deep zone players. I think your Middle zone was following the left slot WR and the right zone had the guy going down the sidelines. I never though about it before but the WR that caught the ball was so slow I think it helped him get open, because all the fast WRs got the deep zones attention first. You were the first person to successfully manipulate my cover 2 sink. Most of the league has struggled with it. Occupying the safety deep over the middle and the corner short so that the corner route was wide open. I think you got 2 touchdowns on that.
I love cover 2 sink, especially when defending the redzone! Mostly when I see that look i hit the quick slant, drag, or TE hitch if I have one of those since the D will typically give you a 3-6 yard route. If you have time, you can hit the shallow post as he gets past midfield, that's what happened on my first TD. You're right though, you have to have an out/hitch on the outside to keep the corner up and a post or seam route to draw the safeties, that usually leaves space. In most single back twin sets (in ace or shotgun) there is a play where the outside WR runs a hitch, the inside guy runs a corner and the TE goes post or seam. Usually the TE on the weak side is in an out, I often hot him to a drag if I think you are in zone. I know I got at least one big pass on a play like that. I actually expected a lot of zone D from you and that is what I got. Most users in our league run more man than zone (including me), but I remembered from the last couple times we played that you ran man cover 2 only occasionally with a variety of zones as your "base." Pretty sure you made a sweet user pick the first time though because we both read the open man and I neglected to read the user LB, I was able to slip it over you or opposite your read a couple times after though. Like I said, I think I played about as well as I could have. I had the one fumble early on a first down pass where the WR coughed it up and then the one back breaker late by my HB. One INT on a good play by you, one in desperation mode..... Erik Curry was on fire to close the year, 150 yards and 2 TD vs TAMU then 90 some yards and 2 TDs vs Arkansas. The running game was actually the biggest surprise of the game for me, your lack of one, usually you get tough yards on me, then my pretty consistent success on the ground including that late TD that I thought won it for me, I thought that was a sweet run. I also know I showed you some "new tricks" on my defense, I finally have good players at DE so I blitzed less, but enough that I felt like I kept you nervous. I learned from your dominant LE over the years and felt like I gave you a little of your own medicine with than dime look, though eventually that late TD burned me, last time I'll call that play in a similar situation, lol. Now I'll just need to practice some more user catching and user defending in the secondary........ I should have a lot of talent back next season, so maybe I'll see you in the CCG again!
Long time ago I decided it was better to try and fail user catches than to not try at all. It always a little different every year but the effort is never wasted. Eventually you will make more good plays than bad. It will be interesting to see what happens to my offense when my top 2 WRs leave. They might both go pro this year, but I shifted my recruiting a few years back and I have very little speed coming up at WR. Most of my WRs are TE conversions. Not sure this will workout well. but it was apparently something I wanted to try 2 seasons ago.
Arkansas 21 Miami 14 Arkansas Holds on late to Edge Miami Arkansas opened with a 3 and out. Miami made some progress then threw a deep bomb into coverage. Arkansas SS Prince stepped infront for the INT in the endzone. Arkansas drove the field then toss up a 30 yard jump ball to TE Valentine. Miami came back with a perfectly timed WR screen pass that went 81 yards to the TD. Poor time for Arkansas to be bringing the corner blitz from that side. Arkansas' next drive was capped by a 40 yard TD spliting the cover 2 on a PA pass down the middle of the field to Eric Setzer. After stopping miami Arkansas put together a long drive but a failed 4th and inches at the 9 yardline ended it without points. Miami opened the second half with a nice drive keyed bay Joe Hall shaking the DE then stepping up to diver a deep pass the the returning WR. Few plays later a Hall hit TE James hill for a 13 TD pass to tie the game at 14. Arkansas tried some deep ball magic again but the safety took a better angle to make the pick. Miami slowly drove the field turning the games momentum in their favor. Arkansas LBs kept fighting injuring Starting Miami HB Sowell then jarring the ball from his backup on the next series. With momentum back on their side Arkansas drove the field fueled mostly by their previously absent rushing game. HB Keyes Punched in the go ahead TD with 4:27 left. Arkansas forced a punt on forth and 2, then converted 4 more first downs with Keyes running to close out the game. Swing plays in the game for Arkansas. QB scramble fumble by arkansas was recovered by arkansas after several missed dives by both teams. Throw over the Miami User MLBs head that probably should have been picked early in the 4th. Redzone 4th quarter fumble by miami. Arkansas developed a running game late in the 4th quarter. Down seven late Miami overthrew a deep ball where the WR had a step.
