49ers outlast Vikings 21-17 in sloppy opener
Neither team preformed up to expectations in a primetime opening game. The opening-game nerves looked to get the better of both QB's as Bridgewater and Kaepernick combined for 8 INT's in a game that swung wildly back and forth.
The first half was all Vikings as they established the run with Peterson looking dominant again while stuffing Hyde and the 49ers run game. The Vikes would score on a beautiful streak by Jarius Wright right in the hole of the cover 3 and into the endzone with only 2 seconds remaining in the half to make it 10-0 Vikings.
The teams swapped back and forth 3 straight INT's to open the 2nd half, before San Fran finally took advantage of good field position and scored on a 2 yard TD run by Jarryd Hayne. The Vikings answered with a long TD drive that saw them leading 17-7 with 6:33 to play.
The Kaep we've seen flashed of came out in the next drive, hitting strikes of 46, 11, and 11 en route to a quick TD. 17-14 Vikings. The 9ers defense would hold forcing a punt with 2:27 to play. On their very first play of the drive, Kaep found Reggie Bush on a HB screen and Bush hit the turbo for an 80 yard TD giving SF their first lead 21-17. Bridgewater would make a valiant attempt, marching the Vikes down to the SF 38 but he threw the final INT of the day to CB Tramaine Brock to end the game.
GG Big Suge Knight it was definetly a sloppy one for both of us.
Rams Survive the Defensive Battle with the Seahawks
There were a lot of studs on the defensive side of the ball in this game. We all know that star studded seahawk's defense and the rams boast one of the best D-Lines in the game. It was going to be a clash of which defense could slow down or stop RBs on the other team. Beast mode, the premiere back in the NFL, versus Todd Gurly, possibly the next great RB in this league. The stage was set and the whistle blown as these two began a great defensive battle.
The first quarter flew by as both teams were filling each other out, as they tested the two RBs against the defenses. The two defenses were winning the battle until late in the quarter. Rookie quarterback, Sean Mannion, was able to put together a couple of nice passes and finally hit Quick for a 13 yard TD pass.
The second quarter was a lot more defense as neither team was able to find pay dirt. The Rams found themselves with nice field position plenty of times thanks to some Ints thrown by Russel Wilson, but the Seahawks defense remained to much for the Rams to overcome. The two teams went into the half with the Rams leading 7-0.
In the 3rd quarter one RB finally took a shot at the defense and landed a big blow. Todd Gurly made some nice moves and busted off a 47 yard run, but was caught short of the TD. Once again the Seattle defense rose to the occasion and held the Rams to only a FG.
The 4th quarter came around and it was obvious the defenses were running the show. Both quarter backs had thrown Ints and neither were over 100 yards passing yet. Russel Wilson was playing like he was being haunted by that game sealing pick he threw in the superbowl. He was overthrowing and completely missing wide open receivers at times and made some poor decisions as well. It didn't help that the seahawk receivers dropped a ton of passes that hit them right in the hands. Early in the 4th Russel snapped out of his funk, at least for a second, and put together a huge drive that was finally capped off by a Fred Jackson TD run. The score was now 10-7 and a lot more nerve racking for both sets of fans. The game was later settled after another Wilson TO that gave the Rams great field position. This time they were able to capitalize as Gurly ran in his first TD of his NFL career from 4 yards out.
The key goal going into this game for the Rams was to stop Lynch. They knew if they did that then they had a shot at winning. Lynch finished the game with 28 yards from 12 carries. It was a huge success for this team and their defense. Gurly finished the game with 80 yards and a TD from 16 carries.
GG Cheez Those drops by your WRs hurt you in some really key situations.
Underdog (?) Patriots Take Down Steelers 30-14
You read that headline right....the Underdog Patriots, picked by 2/3 of the "experts" to lose this game. The most surprising part of the picks was that it was fresh off the Patriots success in the TMFL pre-season tournamemt. However, like in so many other things, the majority of the "experts" came up wanting in their selection.
The Patriots were able to easily handle the daunting Steelers offense without the presence of HB Bell & WR Bryant who were both serving suspensions. The Patriots defense stymied the Steelers to the tune of 1 TD. Big Ben was picked off twice by the Patriots, but what really hurt PIT was the number of dropped balls by their WR Corps.
On the other side of the ball there was immediate impact from newly acquired HB Spiller who contributed in both the running and passing game. Brady looked in complete control of the passing game throwing 2 TDs, one to Gronk and 1 to Edelman. He did throw one horrendous pick 6 on a screen pass where the defender read the play and was sitting there waiting on the ball. It looked like he had made his mind up that he was going to throw it there no matter what.
In the end, the Patriots defense stood too tall and the offense made more than enough plays to turn away PIT.
Uo next NE will travel to Buffalo to face that vaunted Defense.
Jets D gets them the W
The Jets are expecting the defense to come up big this year and in week one they didn't disappoint. The Jets announced right before the game that rookie Bryce Petty would get the start. Jets got the ball first and went 3 and out not a good start. The Browns first possession was not much better as Johnny Football was picked of by Revis Island and returned 36 yds for the TD. After a lot of punting on both sides the Browns were moving the ball just before the half they got all the way to the Jets 2 yard line and with 15 sec left JF was picked off again this time by Cromartie. Jets up 7-0 at halftime
The second half was a little better for the Jets off as Petty was able to connect with fellow rookie Devin Smith (OSU) for a 53 yrd TD reception. The Jets were up 14-3 at the end of the 3rd. In the 4th the Jets just tried to run the ball and control the clock they added a FG and the final score was Jets 17 Browns 3. JFace907 Good game
Bucs Hold on vs Titans 21-14
Pick #1 and Pick #2 in last years draft faced off opening week down in Tampa Bay. It was a tight game with both teams making some mistakes but Tampa was able to capitalize on 4 Marcus Mariota interceptions to hold onto the victory. The Bucs used a nice mix of run and pass to maintain control of the ball with a nearly 3:1 time of posession ratio. The Titans scored in the first quarter on a long Bishop Sankey run , but would be shut out the following two quarters due to repeated turnovers. Meanwhile the Bucs would score 21 points in the 2nd and 3rd. The Titans remained valiant and scored in the 4th to keep Tampa on their toes but again turnovers would be their downfall as The Bucs were able to run out the clock and secure the win in the 4th. Cardinals rally to edge Saints 45-38
Coming into the season new ownership was adamant on running the ball after the team finished dead last a year ago. Their will would be put to the test.
The Saints came in rolling, going up 17-0 in the first quarter, but the Cards held true to their gameplan and continued to stay balanced cutting the lead to 31-21 at half.
The Cards were finally able to get some stops in the second half and were able to take the lead 38-31 with a little over two minutes in the 4th. The Saints answered quickly tying the game at 38 just before the two minute warning. The Cards reclaimed the lead two plays later and a Brees pick sealed the win for the Cards.
Kerrwyn Williams had over 200 offensive yards and David Johnson added 113 on 13 carries.
Bree's and Brandon Cooks are going to be a force this season as they hooked up for 175 plus.
GG man... was fun playing again. Its been at least 6 months... excited to be back in the league
Raiders Win Home Opener 31-14 against Bengals.
After Carr throwing a pick six on the very first throw of the game, he bounced back with three TDs and over 250 yards passing. Two TDs to rookie amari cooper with one a one handed 72 yard TD pass. Murray chipped in with over 125 yards rushing and a TD.
The Raider defense only gave up one score and picked Dalton off three times.

We'll be tracking home teams who slack ... So when ya don't get your 1st or 2nd .... team selections next year you'll know why ...
Detroit 20 San Diago 28
Rookie rb Melvin Gordon came on strong in his nfl debut controlling the ground and leading sd to a victory. His 26 carries, 152 yards and 3 td's carried a lopsided chargers time of possesion battle that won them the game (22 minutes chargers to 10 minutes Detroit). Calvin Johnson was a beast bringing the game close every time the chargers started to pull away. his 5 for 122 and 2 tds kept the lions within reach all game but in the end the chargers pulled out the victory.
I send you the quick highlights of outer game on Xbox if you want to watch. That huge screen play by your HB breaking 3 tackles for a 70!yard td is worth a rewatch!
Madden 16 Season 1 Week 2
Colts 28 Jets 27
In another dismal performance for Andrew Luck (15 for 31, no INTs), the Colts used home field advantage to squeak out a win against the big-play oriented Jets.
Jets Rookie QB scored a 99.1 QB rating, but the 3 INTs were too much. HB Ivory ran 18 times for 139 yards, 80 of it coming on one play. Brandon Marshall added a 75 yard reception as well, and the Jets built a 21-7 lead.
Colts earned some big plays as well, a 60+ Pick 6 from Vonte Davis, and a 84 yard TD Punt return for T.Y. Hilton.
The stat of the game: Jets had 11 pass deflections, with NO INTs. CB Antonio Cromartie looked like he was all over the field. Colts had 1 pass deflection and 3 INTs.
The play of the game: Very controversial pass From Jets QB Petty was caught by wide out Devin Smith, but in the process of falling to the ground, was wrestled away by CB Darius Butler. Even though the rule book says joint possession goes to the receiver, the refferees ruled an interception and did not let coach jwaddy challenge the call.
A frustrating game for both sides (in a good way, with tight defense and surprises) and Colts will be scanning their schedule for when they have to face that defense again.
S1W2 Steelers 23 49ers 6
In a game where the Steelers found success early in the run game, 49ers couldn't get much going on the ground or the air due to malfunctioning equipment. Deangelo Williams filling in for suspended Bell, had a field day on this D , making a cut and run on the first drive for a 64 yard scamper TD. After that, the 9ers didn't find much success running or passing. It was rumored their equipment, including their headsets were malfunctioning and they weren't able to get the guys in the right spots to make plays, let alone call the right plays. Steelers held the 49ers under 100 yards passing and rushing and cruised to victory on the ground making conservative calls to keep this game in check.
GG hskr8128 , sorry about the controller issue. I know you will be gunning for me next time!
Some good games so far!! Nice write ups
Colts vs Bills
Both teams played hard.
The game was pretty evenly matched, the difference came down two a big play here and there. Andrew Luck didn't perform as well as he should have, but credit the Bills Defense, they picked him off 3 times, and pressured him enough so to rack up two sacks.
Colts took the initial lead in the first but that was short lived as Harvin and EJ connected on a nice play action pass that would tie up the game. Bills added a field goal late in the second that gave them the lead going into halftime.
EJ played efficiently, but only completed 50% of his passes. McCoy got most of the work in the second half, amassing 131 yards on 17 carries and two scores. The Bills defense also scored on a scoop six to help the team. Luck was able to engineer two scoring drives in the second half, one through the air and one one where he ran it it in himself. Dwayne Allen and TY Hilton combined for 10 receptions and 175 yards, but they couldn't get much production from the run game. The Colts defense didn't force young EJ into any mistakes, and that could maybe why the Bills were able to hold off the Colts. A play here and a play there goes differently, we are talking Colts win and Bills lose. GG to freakskull and the Colts, GL the rest of the season.
Miami slips past Jacksonville 27 - 24
In a game in which both teams traded interceptions, penalties, punts and scores, an ideal scenario came to pass late in the fourth quarter that would allow one team to step up and the other looking for answers.
The game was tied 24 - 24 with under 2 minutes remaining. Tannehill was held in check most of the game barring two huge plays that lead to scores earlier in the contest. His objective was simple dont turn it over. With Lamar Miller out for a breather rookie RB Jeremy Langford was given an opportunity to showcase his worth as a change of pace back. He delivered. After a negative gain on first down he took just his 3 carry in the game up the field after a botched run block at the 3 hole for a gain of twenty. Then on the next play he took a screen another 20+ yards into field goal range and the rest is history.
The Cowboys beat the rivals Giants 31 to 16
The Cowboys came into week one with several questions. How would the run gam be without DeMarco Murray. Was it the OL or the RB? Could they survive on defense with out injured top corner Scrandrick and suspended stars Hardy and McClain.
The run game was on point and the defense was solid. It's only one week but, things look good for the Boys.
The key to the game was the ball control Dallas run game. Their OL was opening up holes that anyone could have ran through. Especially in the second half.
Timely Defense and Good Fortune Keys to Browns Win
Two Heisman Trophy winners squared off in Cleveland as Johnny Manziel and the Browns hosted Marcus Mariotta and the Titans with both teams looking to shake off a Week 1 defeat. The scoring started when Johnny Manziel hit slot receiver Andrew Hawkins on a quick hitter that Hawk took for an extra 20 plus yards for the score. The Titans answered back with a long drive that saw Bishop Sankey plunge it in for the 1 yard equalizer. The Browns could not answer back as the Titans took a 2 minute drill all the way for six when Marcus Mariotta hit his Craig Stevens in the front of the endzone. Tennessee looked poised to put their foot on the throat of the Browns in the back end of the third quarter getting down to the 25 yard line of the Browns before Marcus Mariotta threw a costly pick. All Pro corner Joe Haden laid out to intercept the former Oregon QB's pass, but he wasn't done. Haden quickly gathered himself up off the playing surface and sprinted 73 yards for a Cleveland TD to tie the game. The Browns would get back in front when Robert Turbin took a counter hand-off directly up the gut where Mack and the interior linemen had opened up a large hole. "Johnny called the counter and when i took the handoff I just couldn't pass up on that hole. I dug my foot in the ground and made a hard cut inside to hit the hole hard. Next thing I knew I was in the endzone," said Turbin. You can never count a Heisman winner out as they normally find comebacks to be a reliable weapon in their arsenal and boy was that exactly the case for the former Oregon QB. Mariotta marched his men down the field for the game tieing score leaving only 4 seconds left on the clock. "We wanted the tie. We felt our defense had held up well all game and that overtime wasn't going to be a problem for us," said Mariotta when asked if going for the win in regulation ever crossed his mind. Overtime started with Cleveland getting the ball and a 15 mile per hour wind screaming in their face. The Browns only mustered 1 first down in the opening drive of the extra session, but the 19 total yards gained were enough to nullify the heavy wind and still put the Titans in average field position. The Titans did not get a first down in their first drive put completely flipped field position pinning the Browns inside the 10 yard line. The Titans actually then sacked the Browns back to the 1 where Andy Lee would have to punt with not only the wind at his face, but the back of the endzone against his back. Lee could only get the punt out to his own 44. The Titans knowing they really only need about 10 yards for a reasonable field goal attempt found themselves only getting 6. Succop lined up the 51 yard field goal and hit it dead eye center BUT LEFT IT SHORT! The Browns seized the chance and drove down the field before Duke Johnson punctuated the drive with a 30 yard touchdown run to win the game for the Browns!
Great game The Richuation
Rams - 20 Redskins-23
Both teams came into this game riding high from their week 1 victories but some big question marks loomed. The Rams with rookie QB Sean Mannion and the Redskins with RG3 under center. The Redskins took a 13-3 lead into half time and seemed to have the Rams exactly where they wanted, take Gurley out of the game and make Mannion beat them. Well Mannion showed he was going to do just that. The Rams took the kickoff in the second half and with a curl route connection to Kenny Britt and a missed tackle later, he was 75 yards downfield and in the endzone. The teams traded a few possesions and with some crazy wind, the Rams ended up with some good field position and were able to tie the game up before the end of the third. The Skins couldn't sit back in their timid offense anymore and had to let the Lambo loose. As with any Lambo it was a scary ride down the field but they made it. And on a 3rd and goal from the 5 they gave the ball to the diesel, who powered his way into the endzone. The Rams and Mannion weren't done yet though. With 2:30 left in the game Mannion connected with Jared Cook for a 45 yard touchdown, that brought us back to even. The Redskins couldn't do anything on offense and were forced to punt. Tress Way with a hell of a leg and a lot of practice so far in the wind was able to boot it out at the 3 yard line with 1:00 left in the game. This made the Rams play it safe and take it into OT. The Rams won the coin toss and elected to receive. Mannion feeling invincible about this time tried to force a pass across the middle and safety Jeron Johnson made him pay with an INT on the 23 yard line. But the Redskins staff not being very smart decide to go against the wind, for some reason, didn't feel comfortable with a 40 yarder. Noticing that Rams were run committing, ran a little dump off to their FB who took them down to the 1 yard line and an easy 18 yarder for the win.
Mannion- 12/21 240 yds 2 TD 1 INT
RG3- 16/22 185 yds
Gurley- 12 atts 44 yds
Morris- 15 atts 49 yds 2 TD
K. Britt- 2 rec 80 yds 1 TD
J.Cook- 2 rec 65 yds 1 TD
J. Reed- 6 rec 88 yds
P. Garcon- 5 rec 51 yds
Great Game Cgreen214
This is where you will post the summary of our game bud. Doesn't have to be anything spectacular just something kinda summarizing it. Every time you're the home team you're responsible for the recap. Great game again bud, glad to have you in the league.
Raiders move to 2-0 after beating Ravens 17-13
In a low scoring affair, Carr overcame two INTs and led the Raiders to a victory behind a great effort from the raider defense. Murray also ran for over 100 yards with a TD score.
Eagles secure the win at home vs the Cowgirls with a 27 - 10 victory. Tony Romo proved to be his old self fumbling away a ball and tossing a pick in the red zone which set the tone for the rest of the game. With limited success behind their touted offensive line the Boys took to the air but came up short in the end. Great game for rookie CB Eric Rowe and 2nd year man Jerome Couplin! Great progress for the Eagles notching wins against the Cowboys and Falcons now. Same Bradford has been playing great showing to be worth the money the Eagles are spending this season.
Cardinals vs Bears
This one was a shoot out. With a combined 10TD. Kevin white for the Bears put up 143 yards and a TD. Showing that he is going to be one of Cutler's favorite targets. On the other side of the ball the once dominant Bears defense was a shadow of there old self. The cardinals wasted no time with the ground and pound. Kerwynn Williams had 160 yards with 3TDs on 19 ATT. Some of you might be asking who is Williams???? As I did when I saw him go for a 56 yard TD run on one of the first plays. This kid has the speed and the moves to back it up. Heed my warning this kid can run.
This was a back and forth contest. Where it seemed the offenses where scoring at will. With Chi getting off to a fast start in the first with a lead 14-7. By half time each team felt they had the other one figured out. But to no avail the defenses where offensive. By the end of the 3rd the score was 28-28. At this point each team knew it was going to be a close one. Chi had the ball last with less then 45 left on the clock. Moving down the fast with a clutch catch by White to set up a Game winning field goal.
Finle score Ari 35-CHi 38.
This was a great game with PuBLiK DrUnK. It was to bad the game had to end with a battle like this. Great game man. And I will look forward to playing you again soon. Until next time PushU2theBrink is out.
Excellent game man... that short FG attempt in OT was just brutal. But well played by you... and I prefer taking on the 72 overall Manziel rather than the 99 overall from last file haha
