Season Previews Not required or anything, but feel free to add if you'd like... Season 3 FSU Preview Expectations: After surprisingly winning the National Championship and putting together one of the nation's best recruiting classes Florida State will look to continue their success on and off the field! Winning the ACC Championship is a must, but with Miami and NC State on the schedule it isn't going to be easy. From there, the Seminoles will hopefully be playing in a major BCS bowl. big games - Three games circled on our calander this year will be #11 Nebraska, #4 Miami, and Florida. Wins over these programs last year are what led to FSU's great season. We will have to bring everything we've got to beat them again, luckily this time the Nebraska and Miami games are at Doak Walker Stadium! Offense: QB - It has been decided that redshirt Junior EJ Manual will start at QB this season replacing Christian Ponder who had a very elustrious career. Manual gets the nod over a slower, yet more accurate, Sophomore in Andrew Martin. Manual did not see any playing time at all last season, and has only seen playing time in the 2009 season which he went 44 of 68 for 651 yards, 6 TDs, and 4 INTs. If Manual slips up Martin will be right there to catch the team. He led FSU to a very decisive victory over Miami last year when Ponder was injured. In 2010, he was 44 of 65 for 762 yards, 3 TDs, and 4 INTs - very similar to Manual. HB - The HB position will be three deep with Juniors Thompson (90), Pryor (91), and Jones (88). Thompson will start while Pryor and Jones see the ball more in short yardage situations. Redshirt Freshman Justin Bates (84) will see time in 4th quarter blow outs. WR/TE - The WRs are extremely deep, and the 5 man rotation will consist of Reed (96), Ruffin (87), Easterling (91), Givens (90), and Fortson (91). This group is very experienced, and will be led by Reed and Ruffin on the outside who combined for 2286 yards on 103 catches with 22 TDs. The TEs will be returning starters, Sr Reliford (87) and So Wilson (84). OL - The offensive line will be led by true Seniors Andrew Datko (98) and Zebrie Sanders (96) at tackle. Between them, from left to right, will be Seniors Greenlee (88), Ganguzza (90), and Spurlock (91). Defense: DL - In the middle will be redshirt Junior Everette Dawkins (94). Not only does he have the strength, but he has the speed, acceleration, and block shedding to destroy an offense's run game. On the outsides will be redshirt Junior Stevens (92), and camp's most improved player...redshirt Senior Jamar Jackson (88). LB - The LB core is stronger than ever! It will consist of two new faces in redshirt Senior Harris (89), and redshirt Junior Williams (86). However, it will also have true Seniors Nigel Bradham and Nigel Carr. Bradham is on pace for a monster season after totaling 86 tackles (19 TFL), 3 sacks, 3 INTs, 4 defl, and 3 FFs last season. DB - At corner will be true Sophomore Jeff Montoya, and true Junior Greg Reid both with 96+ speed. At strong and free safety will be three year starters Nick Moody (86) and Terrance Parks (86). Season 2 Recruiting Class: FSU was able to redshirt everyone in the Season 2 recruiting class, but will not be hesitant to pull a redshirt if needed from the following players: QB Kevin Hunter (76) - If need be, FSU will plug this speed demon (87 speed) into action, and implement some of Coach K's spread option game into their already potent offense. DT Danny Booker (89) - It is very unlikely, but if Dawkins were to go out Booker may see the field. Dawkins is backed by redshirt Sophomores McAllister (88) and McDaniel (87), but Booker's speed and play making ability could flat out change a game. MLB Jeff Johnson (88) - Johnson was redshirted with fellow Freshman MLB Derek Andrews so they could both be beasts their Senior year. However, any injuries to the LB core could release Johnson to the wild. The coaching staff believes that Johnson is the most game ready Freshman on the roster. Season 3 Recruiting: With 19 scholarships available, and over half of those being 5 stars FSU is looking to have a huge year. Main points of emphasis will be FB and safety. FSU is currently looking into #1 overall player and FB Andrew Campbell, SS's Williams (#5), Charles (#3), and Dean (#1).
