Huskies Preseason Preview
Seattle -The Huskies are preparing for the first full season under new coach uagrad90 with high expectations after the mid year coaching change that saw coach ua leave the Arkansas Razorbacks and come to Settle. At the time of the coaching change Washington was 1-4 and was looking for an identity. The new coaching staff was navigate through several difficult situations and in the end Washington ended the year with a 9 game winning streak, 8 under coach ua, and earned a Music City Bowl win over Wisconsin. Coming into this season the Huskies fans are very optimistic as they only lost 10 seniors to graduation and return the heart of their offense. For the 2013 season the Huskies return a veteran offensive line along with their starting quarterback and the top two rushers from last season. On defense the Huskies return most of the starting from 7 but they did sustain heavy losses in the secondary. The key to this year teams success will rest on how quickly the young guys in the secondary adjust to their new roles.
The Huskies will find out very quickly how good tier team will be as they open the season with a home game against coach Bamagrad and the Crimson Tide of Alabama which is immediately followed the next week with Huskies Pac-12 opener against Coach Slim and the Oregon Duck. A week 10 trip to Los Angles to face coach bigtubb and his USC Trojans will set the tone for the closing stretch and go along was in determining if Washington has any hopes of playing in the Pac-12 title game.
Week - Alabama vs Washington
Ducks Control Line-of-Scrimmage and Cruise to an Easy Win
Seattle - Same story as last week, different verse. Oregon was the more talented team and the Huskies could not match up in the trenches as the Ducks pushed the Huskies around all day long.
The Huskies finally broke the 2 game losing streak at the expense of their rival Washington State. The Huskies dominated the game and wrapped up the Apple Cup early and cruised to the win.
The Huskies held on to out score the Bearcats in a game that should have not been this close. Washington cold not stop the Cinncy passing attack and had to fight alot harder to get the win that they should have.
The Huskies defense rebounded from last weeks showing and kept the Sun Devils out of the end zone most of the day. The Huskies used a good mix or run and pass to control the ball and allow Washington to climb above .500 for the year.
The Huskies offense helped propel Washington a 28-14 halftime lead on the strength of Nick Montana's passing and hard running of Deomtae Cooper. IN the 2nd half the Huskies pulled back on the reins to grind out a 44-27 win over Stanford.
In a game that looked to be an easy Huskies win become closer than expected in the 2nd half as the Tar Heels began the shut down the Washington offense and started find holes in the Huskies defense. But late on the game Montana connected with Zach Fowler to seal the win for Washington.
The Huskies ran the win streak to 6 in a row after dominating the game with Utah. The Huskies set the tone early with a 47 yard interception return for a TD and they did not looked back after that as they cruised to 31 first half points en-route to a 37-6 win..
Week 10 Huskies Loses to USC via sim. After defeating the Trojans twice only to see the NCAA not allow the game to save the Trojans came back and got the win over the Huskies 31-13.
The Huskies found themselves in a battle with Cal going into the final qtr leading 21-14. But in the final qtr a 92 yard fumble recovery returned for a TD prevented Cal from tying the game and allowed the Huskies to finally pull away a very from a very stubborn Bear team.
Huskies Earn a Hard Fought Win Over Georgia
The Washington Huskies faced the Georgia Bulldogs in a user match up that was contrast in style. The Huskies entered the game with their pistol offense looking to mix up the action and keep the tough Bulldog defense off balance. Georgia would counter with a hard nose run based offense as they looked to pound the rock and make the Huskies quit. The two teams were able to move the ball only to see the other defense and the online lag shut them down. The turning point of the game was the 3 turnovers committed by the Bulldogs with one coming deep in Husky territory as Georgia was looking to tie the game at 7. The Huskies scored with 14 seconds left in the half and then scored again early in the 4rd quarter to build a 21-0 lead. The Bulldogs cut the lead 14 with just under 5 minutes to play but the Huskies were able to run the ball and control the clock and walk away with a hard fought 21-7 win over Georgia.
Great game...2 of 3 turnovers were inside my 35, the one that set up 21-0 was at the 1. Lag or no lag, I was still outcoached and outplayed.
