    STYLE POINTS!
THe Huskies torch BYU's defense to a tune of 52 points on opening day

The Washington Huskies opened the season on the road against a very good BYU team. However, the loss of QB Max Hall to the NFL draft proved disastrous for the Cougars. Inexperience at the QB position for BYU was the story of the game. New Cougar QB Riley Nelson was harrassed by the Husky defense all game long. He completed only 54% of his passes for 94 yards and accounted for two major turnovers that the Cougars couldn't Recover from.

The Cougers elected to take the ball first. After a three and out, Husky True Freshman 4th string RB/Wildcat back/PR Deaunte Cooper returned a punt 67yds for a TD. Cooper set the tone for the game and the Huskies used that momentum to cruise to a 52-3 victory. Cooper also had a 52 TD run out of the Wildcat formation which put the game out of reach for the Cougars.

Washington's Heisman hopeful Jake Locker was the Player of the Game. He completed 15 passes for 288yds and two TD's. He also added 8 rushes for 69yds and 2 rushing TD's.

    Washington Stat's
    J. Locker 15-29 288yds, 8 car 69yds 4 total TD's

    New Recruit

Washington Huskies football fansite Realdawg.com is reporting that the Huskies have received their first commitment of the season in punter Brian Anderson.

Anderson a :2stars: prospect from Ketchikan, Alaska looks to replace Senior Punter Will Mahan for next season. The 6'1 208 Ibs Anderson stated that "[he is] proud to be a Huskie and [he] will immediately began working on increasing [his] kicking strength" this season. ESPN Recruiting Insider Tom Luginbill stated in a resent telephone interview that Anderson was an "accurate punter, but lacks power in his kicks." Hopefully, RB Chris Polk and the 2011 Washington Huskies will keep his punting duties to a minimum early on.
