Once again the SEC looks to dominate college football. In the preseason top 25 the SEC holds the top six spots as well as #8 and #20. Here is a quick look at each of those teams from our staff writer and local SEC enthusiast. We asked some simple questions about each team and you'll find our answers below in preseason ranking order.

    The questions were:
This team can win it all if?
This team will fall short because?
Who's the teams best player on each side of the ball?
What is the most interesting storyline for this team?

This team can win it all if?

Hell, they just need to do what they usually do. There isn't really anything to overcome when you are the defending champs and have won 8 national titles in 11 years.

This team will fall short because?

It's unlikely, but the one thing that could hold this team back is the passing game. It looks ridiculous with a 99 OVR QB and a 98 OVR backup throwing to a 97/96/99 WR/WR/TE trio but hear me out. Neither QB has a monster arm (both under 90 throw power) and the WR cadre has only one player with truly gamebreaking speed. By some teams standards the WRs at Arkansas are slow and unlike in some previous years, they aren't a bunch of giants either. Some SEC teams like Florida can field enough skill at CB to limit this unit, which could be the key to their downfall.

Who's the teams best player on each side of the ball?

Not very cut and dried on such a talented team. On offense you've got HB Brad Roach. The 2 time returner of the year has over 3000 yards of KoR yards and over 1500 PR yards to go along with 10 career return TDs. He is a 99 OVR with 99 speed and acceleration. A true homerun threat on every down and if you want to tackle him you better bring a couple friends because he's got 97 break tackle and 99 elusiveness. On defense you look at DT Lionel Rogers clogging the middle at DT. Rogers has an impressive 17 career sacks from the middle. He is virtually unblockable with 99 power and finesse moves and 94 block shed to go along with 78 speed, whivh is better than average for his position.

What is the most interesting storyline for this team?

Nothing leaps out. The starters are all well tenured and the team has no weaknesses really. The top storyline is really, will they ever lose? The answer could come in week 3 when they host Mizzou. Since they skip Miami this season if recent history is any indicator, that week 3 game may be the only possible regular season loss on the schedule for the hogs.

This team can win it all if?

It's going to be a rough road, but if the Aggies can play the way they did in losing the national title game last year, they just might have a shot. The one thing that this team needs to be able to do more than anything is close games out. Coach Jayrah's tenure is littered with heartbreaking losses in games where opponents came back from second half defecits to send the Aggies packing with the sour taste of defeat.

This team will fall short because?

They lack depth at QB and on the O-line, plus, the LB corps and safeties or above average, which isn't nearly good enough in the SEC. Finally, they play Arkansas and Mizzou in the same year plus face giant killer Miami in cross divisional play. Another 9-3 year is unlikely to put them in the BCS title game again.

Who's the teams best player on each side of the ball?

On defense it's probably CB Nate Hart. Hart isnt the fastest player in the nation, but he has good size (6'1") and is exceptional in coverage (99/99 man/zone). His 97 play recognition allows him to diagnose quickly and along with his height, 92 jumping makes jump balls a dangerous gamble for opposing offenses. On offense it's QB E.J. Pitts. Pitts had a very nice year as a junior, completing 64% of his passes with 25 TDs against 13 INTs. If this team is going to take the next step he needs to be even better.

What is the most interesting storyline for this team?

Can the running game bounce back? Senior HB Kevin Lewis had 630 yards on 4.5 a carry as a sophomore with 177 of those yards after contact and 4 runs of 20 or more. As a junior, Lewis regressed, averaging less than 4 yards per carry and only managing one 20 yard carry. On Paper, Lewis and fellow HB Patrick Lilly look like an intriguing power and speed 1-2 punch, but the coaching staff needs to use them effectively if they don't want to be too one dimensional this season.

This team can win it all if?

Two things jump out about this Gator team. First is that they have an exceptional defense. If that unit can play up to their potential they will make it hard for opposing teams to move the ball. The second is that they are turnover prone. The offense has a lot of skill but needs to limit mistakes if they want to beat the Arkansas and Missouris of the world.

This team will fall short because?

Ball security. This team has a tendency to give the ball away. In the SEC the teams and coaches are too good to beat if you give them a short field or let their defense score points.

Who's the teams best player on each side of the ball?

The team has a trio of great HBs but traditionally favors the pass, so we are going with WR Kenan Robinson. Kenan is a fine overall player (94) with adequate size. He lacks game changing speed, but with 99 route running, 96 catching, and 95 catch in traffic, this kid can really move the chains. Those skills helped him grap 75 catches for 1432 yards and 14 TDs a year ago. DE Sam Johnson is a beast on the edge of the 4-2-5. He's a 98 OVR who does everything well, including the fact that he is an elite, almost freakish athlete. Johnson has 18 sacks over the last two seasons and is primed to have a breakout year.

What is the most interesting storyline for this team?

Will they ignore the HBs? With a 98, a 97, and a 93 on the roster this team has a wealth of runners, but last season they focused heavily on the pass. Could a more balanced attack be the key? Can they stop the pass. With a 98 DE and a 99 DT rushing the passer, opposing QBs figure to have limited time to through into a secondary with 5 CBs all rated over 90. If this defense can slow opposing aerial attacks they could have a special year. Finally, can they protect the football? Senior QB Erik Jones threw for over 5000 yards and 49 TDs last season, but he also was intercepted 35 times and fumbled 6 times.

This team can win it all if?

Put simply, beat Arkansas. If Blake Copeland can continue to play as well as he has the last two years this team can beat anyone. If the D-line plays up to their potential and the team can get production at HB they can beat everyone.

This team will fall short because?

They lack depth on defense. They are somewhat vulnerable at nickel and dime corner and thin at LB after the starting 3. When the injury bug bites or the fast tempo brings fatigue into play, this defense could suffer.

Who's the teams best player on each side of the ball?

On offense it is Blake Copeland at QB. He is a 99 OVR heading into his third year as the starter. He will easily ecliple 10,000 career yards and 100 TD passes this season barring significant injury. Blake has a great arm and is fantastic when running the ball to boot. On defense, LE Calvin Oliver has 31 career sacks and already has a Nagurski and Lombardi trophy in his case. With 83 speed, 95 acceleration, and 99 finesse moves, Oliver is scary coming off of the edge on passing downs.

What is the most interesting storyline for this team?

Can the front 3 be as good as advertised at 96, 97, and 99 OVR. If so will that cover up the deficiencies in the back 8? The offense lost a 99 OVR HB and now turns to a pair of 91 OVR sophomores, can they step up and give this team balance?

This team can win it all if?

Coach Boom has beaten Arkansas and Missouri in the same year before. This year they skip Arkansas so the question is can they beat everyone else. This offense has the fastest trio of WRs in the nation, so if the offensive line can give the QB time they could be dangerous. The real test will be finding balance. If this team can run well enough with a stable of young HBs (all under 90 OVR) to keep defenses honest they can stay with anyone.

This team will fall short because?

They will struggle to run the ball. The offensive line is limited and the HBs are a year away from being great. If defenses can count on the Hurricanes throwing the ball it could be another disappointing campaign.

Who's the teams best player on each side of the ball?

On defense it is SS Ray Webb. At 99 OVR with excellent size, Webb is the best player in the country at his position. He can come up in run support or cover or blitz, he is the total package. On offense it has to be WR Matt Fine. Fine has no starting experience, but at 94 OVR with 98 speed, 98 acceleration, and 99 route running, this young man looks poised to have a breakout season.

What is the most interesting storyline for this team?

Its the lack of experience on offense. There are plenty of talented players on the roster, but at QB, HB, and WR the team will be fielding zero returning starters. Hopefully for Hurricane faithful the lack of experience can be made up for with the talent.

You're right about my running game. I've been having some trouble running the ball the first two weeks against the CPU, but it could be because I've been trying out a new playbook. I'll have to make a decision before I play the first user game whether to keep it. Just FYI, my QB (Summers) is a returning starter, so I'm comfortable there. However, the receivers and backs are indeed new.

my top WR might only have 84 speed but he is always my biggest deep threat.

    Catching 99
    Spectacular Catch 99
    Catch In Traffic 95
    Route Running 97
    Release 94

He is 6'3" 270lbs! Any ball is catch-able regardless of coverage or hits

I'll ramp back up on my activity once 14 hits. I was good for about 8 seasons but since not everybody is going full boar at this point I have other things to focus on.
