#3 Alabama hosts Hugh Freeze's Rebels
With RB Jeff Scott out, Ole Miss' Offense Struggles
A game in which the Tide outgained the Rebels of Mississippi 502 yards to 193, and star Running Back Jeff Scott gets hurt and misses the final three quarters, the Tide rolled all over the competition. The second game in poor weather in as many weeks, AJ McCarron was sharp early, allowing for the offensive firepower from the backfield to take over in the second half.
Alabama WR DeAndrew White was McCarron's favorite target on the day, catching 6 passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns, all scores coming before the mid-point in the second quarter. Then the Lacy, Yeldon, Hart combination would put the offense on cruise control, with 44 combined carries they amassed 224 yards on the ground. Lacy, who slightly tweaked a previous hamstring injury was pulled after the third quarter. McCarron would throw two interceptions, the second one in the third quarter that was caught by Rebel CB Senquez Golson, and tackled at the 2 yard line, backing up the Rebel offense which had struggled to gain any yardage all game. The result was a fumble in the back of the end zone that would give the Tide 2 easy points, and the ball back. Ole Miss wouldn't get another chance, and Alabama would run out the rest of the clock.
