The Iowa Hawkeyes were not scared of the #9 Arkansas Razorbacks, at this point of the season, Iowa has played more SEC schools than any SEC school has. Week 4 of the IOWA vs the SEC challenge has the Hawkeyes being a massive underdog. Starting 0-2 with losses to Missouri and Tennessee left a bad taste in the mouth of the Hawkeye faithful. Last weeks upset of #24 South Carolina was a step in the right direction and Iowa looked for a victory today to right the ship. By looking at the statline you see that Arkansas outrushed Iowa 145 to 69 and matched the Hawkeyes in passing along with both teams having 3 turnovers, you would've thought Arkansas handled it's business and escaped Iowa City. But that could be further from the truth. Iowa's 3 turnovers were early and Arkansas was not able to capitalize. The Hawkeyes on the otherhand used a fumble return for a touchdown to tie it up in the first half and a pick 6 to take the lead for good in the second half. Sophomore QB Jake Rudock was benched early for freshman Jesse Marshall. Although Marshall's numbers were ugly (10-26 245 yards 3 INT) he sparked his teammates with the heart he played with as well as the 56 yard bomb to Don Shumpert on playaction to put the Hawkeyes in the Redzone. Iowa pulled out the 31-21 victory. Next week Iowa travels to the Twin Cities to take on the Golden Gophers.
