    Series 5

Hernandez throws CG, SO v. Brew Crew
Zimmerman cracks 2 R HR to lead the Nats

Hernandez helps Nats put together a win streak, 2 game

Washington DC-- Livan Hernandez would record a quick 1-2-3 in the first inning and then Cristian Guzman (3-4) would lead the game off with a single and Taveras would sac bunt him over which wouldn't matter as Ryan Zimmerman would crank a 2 R HR to give a Nats a lead and never look back. The third run would come from a Adam Dunn double and then two sac flies to score him. Hernandez would scatter 5 hits strike out 6 to earn the complete game shutout, the second for the Nats.

The Nats will host another NL Central opponent next week as the St Louis Cardinals come to town. The Brew Crew will travel to Atlanta to take on the Braves.

    White Sox 3
    Royals 0

SP Mark Buehrle and 1B Paul Konerko were the heroes of this very brisk affair. Buehrle was able to keep the ball off the fat part of the bat as he threw a complete game shutout with only 2 K's. Konerko had 2 hits, with each knocking in a run. Carlos Quentin contributed as well, with 3 singles and 2 runs scored. The Sox had 10 hits but only scored 3 runs, which will not get it done on most nights.

The Sox and Royals are now tied atop the AL Central at 5-1. Gm 2 of this series will untie that knot.

David DeJesus took an 11th inning J.J. Putz off speed pitch and deposited it into the right field season to give Kansas City a hard fought victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Royals trailed with 2 outs in the 9th inning. They had been shut out for 17.2 consecutive innings by White Sox pitchers. Billy Butler had just doubled off Bobby Jenks. Then in steps Rick Ankiel with the game on the line. He delivered a two out, bottom of the 9th seeing eye single up the middle to tie the game and force extra. Both pitcher staffs were marvelous. The Royals gave up 1 unearned run and the White Sox just the two runs. Kyle Davies will take the hill next for the Royals,as they will take on the American League West division leading Oakland Athletics.

Mets Dominate the Reds in Convincing fasion. Mike Pelfrey Pitches a gem 7 hits 10 strikes out and 1 ER which came off of a Homerune. The Mets bats have started to rally as of late with a 3 Rbi performance from Wright and a HR from Francouer
