    Nats escape Cards, 2-1
Josh Willingham 2-4 day leads Washington

Lannan pitches 8.2 giving up 5 hits and a run

DC-- Saint Louis Cardinals came to town and the Nationals would escape with a win. Fast-forward to the 9th, a lead off hit by Felipe Lopez then a breaking ball in the dirt to Rasmus and Lopez advances to 2nd. The next pitch is a weak grounder to short which Lopez gets caught up and is tagged out and Rasmus tries to take 2nd and is also tagged out. Now with 2 outs and Lannan in line for a shutout, Pujols rips a hanging curveball over the wall to make it 2-1. Manager Ryty has to wonder what were his players doing on the play before. Knight goes with Matt Capps to close out the ball game, not without giving up a hit then a deep fly ball which resulted in the final out.

Verlander does it again as he tacks on his second complete game of the season.

The Detroit Lions go over to Minneapolis Minnesota to take on the twins in this division battle. Both teams struggled to get into the hits column this game as the game was scoreless for the first two innings. This was until the game was broken open by a Adam Everett two run homer in the top of the third. As Minnesota struggled to get into the run column against Verlander, Detroit's offense piled it on with a Brandon Inge three run homer. The Twins got onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the 7th, but Verlander held strong and finished off the game to bring the Tigers above .500.

GG Controller, GL the rest of the season.
