Twins split series with a much needed win!

The Minnesota Twins headed to Detroit after an exhausting beat down from the Tiger's pitcher Justin Verlander. In what looked to be another brilliant performance on the Twins by a Tiger pitcher turned out not meant to be. It was 0-0, a guy on 1st with Johnny Damon up at the plate. Damon blasted one to right field but Michael Cuddyer made a game saving catch. Believe me, this is how the 1st game started. Tigers blasted one, then another to take a 6-0 lead. This time they would be denied. Scott Baker led the way on the mound as he pitched furiously getting 8 K's and only 4 hits in 8.0 innings pitched. Cuddyer also led the Twins on the offensive attack as he went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. The Twins now take on the Kansas City Royals in what looks to be the biggest series of the AL Central so far.

    Giants get by Rockies 6-4
    Cain strong; DeRosa's blast huge.

The San Francisco Giants take the second game of the series against the Colorado Rockies. Matt Cain pitched 7 strong innings giving up 3 runs. All 3 runs came off a blast by Todd Helton. Helton put the Rockies up 3-1. In the 6th inning the Giants bats heard the alarm. Two singles and Bengie Molina taking a ball in the thigh would load the bases. Aubrey Huff would hit into a 5-2-3 double play. With runners on second and third, Mark Derosa would walk to the plate and hit a 3-run homer of his own to put the Giants up 4-3. The Giants would tack on an insurance run in the 8th and the bull pen would be called upon. after giving up two hits leaving men on first and third the lefty Runzler would be replaced by the set up man Affeldt. Affeldt would come in a bad spot with only 1 out. He struck out the first batter and then the second batter would fly out to the warning track in center. The Giants added one more run and the closer Brian Wilson would be called on. He sat down the first two batters and then made a mistake and Miguel Olivo would park one in the left field bleachers 6-4. Wilson would retire the last batter and pick up the save.
