    Settings Discussion Thread

All settings discussion here. I'll update the 1st post and update periodically thru the thread as we come to conclusions as we come to terms. I'll also update the info thread at top as we go so we'll have plenty of places to make it well known what our rules and expectations are.

1st topic is Auto-Turbo. I kind of like the thought of not using R2 so true ratings mean more. That's just me but I understand that it makes locomotion more consistent and effective to disable the R2 button.

I know I've murdered that button in the past. Lol

It would be different but it would be worth it to me to place more weight on the players' ratings.

I vote for as little changing of the setting from there default as possible. I understand the reasons for wanting the changes, and agree many of the effects they would bring are likely positive, but as I will be playing in at least 2 other ODs and the NDL, that will not be changing there settings. If we make many changes it ends up feeling like I am not even playing the same video game in this OD.

I dont really have a preference, but I do agree that it would put more emphasis on players ratings. The big thing it HELPS do is make you use the players the way they're meant to be used.

I had read somewhere here about someone complaining about man D being too tough. I haven't touched a slider yet and won all three games I played, although the first one I played was San Jose St. and had to come from behind all game to win 41-38. I basically started an offline dynasty so I could test recruiting and play my schedule to see how it would be from weak opponents up to the tougher ones.

I like recruiting but it will be a longer process. I don't see myself having 95% of my signing class in tow before the off-season like it was in the last one. Everything will mostly be spaced out wider. It's fun and as much as it is basically all the old recruiting features rolled up with a twist, it's new enough to be fun. What I dread is recruiting against all you turds who have top schools and you'll compare us little guys and hold us down. lol
***I'll be doing all of my recruiting and roster edits etc from my i-phone. I'm telling my wife I'm not going to play the game as much this year. hahahahaha.

I've actually had fun on Offense. I don't think I've had any luck with the dig either but I've only tried it a few times.

As for the auto-turbo, I played with it on and I liked it, a lot. It's nice to not be all tensed up holding down that R2 button, although I did it quite a bit out of habit. I'm voting to play with the auto-turbo, but is that something that each user can turn on/off or does the commish have to set it once for all of us?

DL play seems realistic and OL does a decent job. We'll just have to see if we need to take any sliders down.

FG distance needs to be toned down along with FG accuracy. I kicked a 55 yarder today.

We'll get a feel on the rosters. They should be done with the named ones in a couple days or less, and then we'll see how long it will take to get depth charts and some edits in. Shouldn't be too long. I'm as eager to get going as the next guy is but getting accurate rosters is big. Plus, I'm pretty sure we could all use some practice.

    i like auto sprint, simple.

i have played one game online and three games in my canes dynasty and i have yet to allow an offensive score, sound familiar? lol, but fareal, im loving every aspect of this game. 3-4 defense still is a lil broken in philosophy but it manageable i guess based on the seccess i've had so far. i like to play with the "show playart feature" it help me memorize the double teams so i know when to make my cuts. play action sucks for me just as much as outside digs lol, i gues we should be expecting about one more patch for the game nothing crazy like last years 3 patches lol. well guys get ya practice in, yall kno how these "honeymoon" periods can be lol

I have played 5 user games (5-0) and 4 cpu games (0-4). Just got done losing to Michigan State 7-31, with me playing with Penn St. All of my cpu games were on heisman. Is the difference between AA and Heisman THAT big??? Or do I just suck lol? I get sacked on every possession. Cant run or pass on CPU, especially when they are in Man. PA is an automatic sack for the cpu. Maybe we could tweek the pass blocking?

Looks like I am going to have to play different vs the CPU. Any tips that work that are worth sharing?

What playbooks you guys using? Find that special one? I am shuffling between Oregon, Michigan, and Spread. For the most part its been Oregon. Cant sit under center. I tried and it was a sack fest.

    So far, love auto sprint...

    Love the no huddle...

Love the fact that if someone is trying to truck stick the hell out of you, odds are that they are going to fumble sooner than later(y)

The only frustrating thing I've found is dropping wide open passes... I hit Martavious Odoms on a fly in an online game and his paddle hands swatted it around and he dropped it...
He kind of sucks in real life though, so maybe its realistic?

Anyhow, I'd like to see catching looked at.

I like the auto turbo but I still find myself hitting turbo. Hopefully by the time we start I wont be pressing R2 religiously.

Come on now smoooth....Odoms isnt THAT bad haha. He just isnt that good. I think he is Michigan's 2nd best WR, but that isnt saying much.....

My guess is that whoever uses Michigan will put DR in at QB (92 speed)....Ive already seen it once online. Word is that he is pushing Tate for the starting job. He still needs to work on his passing. Once he does that the running lanes will be open all day and he will be a bigger threat than Pat White was...(at least i hope)

I'm over running everything on D when auto turbo isn't on. It feels more natural on D with turbo on but it the only time I've noticed a benefit of having it off is in the run game, at times.

The gamingtailgate roster looks pretty accurate. It's names only with no edits or anything, but that's a start. Luv's should be out today, I think.

Man d needs to be toned down just a notch. I vote against auto turbo. I feel knowing when to turbo and not to hammer it is one of my strengths. Auto-turbo is also such a deviation from my normal controller instincts, that it will be too much of a change for me. I play ranked gms, and joining another dyn... and diff rules for each makes it like two diff games.

Also, can we please officially allow user-catch? I'm tired of everyone thinking this is cheap, and don't feel like even defending my stance on it as I've done so many times. Just want to get the discussion on it started.

    P.S.

I realize a lot of these rules are added to present a truer football sim, which I'm all in favor for...

as an example, I just played an A-hole online who ran I form jumbo option with USC and a trips four-wide play out of the gun that he used interchangeably through no huddle. Went for two every time as well... I hate guys like that, and playing games like that. I actually beat those types of players most of the time because after you figure them out, they have nothing left to go to in their short playbook... but that's not the point; its mindless and not fun.

The point is, I understand the need for rules to be made, to eliminate play like in my previous example... but if you make too many rules, then it takes away from the talent of the guy on the sticks, and it comes down to who has the best roster. That's not fun either.

I feel that auto-turbo is a classic case of this. the more limits you put on this game, stick skills are lost in, and wiinning comes down to playcalling, recruiting skills, and most inmportant, who has the most talent on the field. That isn't right. There is major talent disparity in college football... we all know that. The majority of the fun in controlling a weak program is to try to build it up through recruiting/winning on the field(provided he's good enough to overcome the talent disparity), but hamstringing a guy and making it about who has the best rosters is sort of a socialist way of playing a video game.

I've been playing with HUM & CPU Pass Coverage at 40 and it seems better. Also, all the kick and punt settings at 40, KO's at 50.

INT's definitely need to go back to 0 again.

CPU pass rush does NOT need to go up at all.

I think I've tooled around with QB acc at 45 and not much difference
