Anybody have a problem with the read option in user games so far? It's pretty OP in this year's game so I hope it doesn't become an issue.
We've only played two games max a piece. That said, I ran a few options my first game against Webbs. The first one went for way too many yards, so I purposefully tried not to call it but a few times. I think in my game with Coach_III I ran one inverted veer and one RO. I assume if anyone spams it there would be consequences.
I'm keeping an eye on the INTs this season. 2012 season stats from ESPN show that 2.5% of the top 25 passing offense's attempts were intercepted with that percentage only increasing to 2.7% for the entire field of FBS teams. It's too early to jump to conclusions, but our QBs are being intercepted around 4.5% of our passes. Probably need to tally this again around week 8 and after bowl games are finished.
OK so I'm not the only one who thinks this. IMHO read option should be banned from being used in no huddle situations. Logan Thomas had an 11+ ypc against me and most of those runs were during a no huddle drive.
Rice ran read option to perfection. You experience spread option teams, get in dime and blitz both inside corners. That or the RB sided corner to stop QB from going superman
Everyone has their own way of stopping it. If its a CPU team, I scrape with the OLB and tell my linemen to focus on the RB and leave the QB to me.
Maybe we should just make a gentleman's agreement to go easy on it until there is a known way to defend it against users. I've heard from other users such as Burrcat2277 that it can ruin games if it's allowed to run wild. Personally, I have no idea how to stop it against real people. I can just blitz the edge against the CPU but users are smart enough to audible out when they see that.
The difference between the ability to run under center and using the read option are night and day. In Trifecta we are trying to narrow that gap and balance the two. Unfortunately in my first user game that wasn't the case. My opponent ran his offense primarily through read option and was virtually unstoppable. I saw it coming time and time again while having to watch my defense flow to a sideline biting on the fake every time.
Pass % is too high on average for the CPU and users. Not sure whether we should lower WR catch or QB accuracy. I don't care about yardage too much, but the completion percentage is far too high. I'm working on a google spreadsheet I will post in here later with some numbers for everyone to think over.
Passing needs some work. Surprisingly, rushing compares okay to real stats. Your browser does not support iframes!
QBA is just too low, you will have balls sailing into the stands and what not. Maybe if there was a 7 or 8 option in between 5 and 10. lol
Lower Catch rating. IDK about yall, but I throw short passes much more than bombs, so my QBA is misleading.
Yeah, our completion percentage is too high but I just about guarantee our yardage is far less than real life. Like ltl said, most of us are living on the short stuff right now. On the flip side, I still can't run from under center but the read option is a cheesy 8-10 yards each time.
I have 3 and four wide sets out of the ace and I don't have issues running unless its against a 3 man front with the extra LBs messing up the blocking.
I'm not sure what the issue is then. My whole offense is getting switched from a pro to a typical spread option attack this year.
I think the running of the RO is more of an issue then the throwing %, that will come down as we get more into the season. The game is set-up for the option now. Defenses cant stop the run vs the cpu.
This. Why did I barely beat Rice? RO. Why was the SMU game lopsided? No RO. When I played Alabama CPU in the 2nd half, no RO=0 points allowed. Ya it can be beat, but damn do they overpower it
