Just shot a big fat +13 in the 1st Rd. of our Weekly at Mission Hills.
Hole #9 is brutal for fade golfers. A mean dogleg to the left. I shot a 10 !!!
Next Round I will lay up for sure.

I don't mind the +13 score at all.
Sim is hard but a lot of fun, too

But........................................please give us the "normal" Analog Strike Meter !!!!
I hate that fading thing to death.
    I just can't stand it.

I've tried to practice with it the last 2 days but I just can't get it done properly.

You didnt read my post. And your being somewhat insulting.

Im done adding my 2 cents. If people dont realize the parts of the game that are unsim in the sim mode, so be it. I see a tour that will dwindle as the year goes on.

This is what I have said - over and over and over again. The fading cursor that doesnt stick is totally UNSIM and downright brutal.
(along with no beads since I cant see the resolution on my TV).

    Just to clear things up.

I didn't asked for a "sticky" Strike Meter.
An Analog Strike Meter would be fine and would still be very challenging.

    And regarding your putting issues.

Have you seen both video tutorials I posted ?

In Sim Mode you don't actually have to "see" the breaks in order to get good in putting.
Just look at those tutorials and try it out.
    It works fine for me.

You may not get a one putt on every try, but it definitely will reduce the 3-putters to a minnimum (on normal greens with no carnival pins)

... That's beacuse I wasn't referring to you or your post specifically.

I was around in 2011 when the settings were much more forgiving and the game was a lot easier. I can assure you, when the better players start shooting -42 for a tournament; numbers will start to dwindle. The benefit of this mode is that EVERYONE is struggling with the challenge.

Surely you only ever need to majorly use the right analogue stick in bunkers or thick rough?! Thus it is penalising to go in there. This is more realistic than past games where a hazard or wayward tee-shot was never really an issue.

Are you trying to use the right analogue stick to hit fades and draws (as in the cursor on the golf ball)?

No, I hit draws and fades aiming before I line up, or by default due to the shot difficulty.
Look, I am still going to play no matter what - I just know I will be at the bottom. I dont have the time to practice when I play FIFA as well (not to mention operating 80-100 hours a week, ha).
I just really really REALLY dislike that the cursor just vanishes after 0.0004 seconds when I have to change where to place the face of the club. Its very annoying, and, in my opinion, unrealistic.

I do think that it should be harder to hit out of the rough and the sand, but the lies already do that, no? Having to then hold a finger in a magical position that I cant see is pretty awful.

so far, 3 rounds played, using Tiger Woods... averaging about 15-18 over. This shot shaping is killing me

Talking about sim, not every player shot shapes in real life unless they have to. I think with expert settings, its not just pulling the stick back and forward.

Vlad In the 4 round tourneys, I hope there will be more than 1 'retry'. I was 3 holes into my 3rd round at Mission Hills and I lost connection.

    Now i banned from playing my round 3 & 4 :(

Go to the practice facility and practice there. I dunno if you work 100 hours a week too, but you only need 15 minutes before a round until you kinda get the feeling for it. Make sure to try both Draw and Fade, I started as fade golfer and I wasn't doing bad but I wasn't constant enough (out of bounds shots) then I changed my golfer to a Draw type, and after playing 8 rounds haven't had a single out of bounds tee shot. Just like in real life not every shot will be perfect but I like it that way. Other thing that I am doing is that every time I feel that my swing is not good enough, I press the left stick to get a couple of swing practices. It helps me a lot!! Well, to make a resume of what I do: Hit the range before your rounds, play a practice round before a tournament round (to get to know the layout of the course), practice swings before taking your shots (even if you gotta do it before every shot), make sure that there are gonna be some holes just way too difficult for the level of your golfer, in there I am just laying up for the easy par. For sticky thing, I move it slowly to get a better feeling for knowing when the marker is after disappearing. When the position from the rough or any other "obstacle" seems to be way to risky, I just put it back in the fairway instead of trying to go for it.

By doing that I have become a more constant player (I have only played 10 rounds so far). I didn't make the cut for the last 3 tournaments in my career, but I had good rounds (+2, +2, +3) that could have been under par if I didn't make some stupid mistakes (rushing too much while putting).

So after the rounds I've played IMO I think the fading analog is by far the setting that needs to be changed . It's not sim. In real life golf yes you have to center the club head on the ball and keep that spot during your back swing. But in real life when you go to line that shot up the face of your pitching wedge doesnt disappear. Thats my opinion. Change it to analog. Be the closest thing to the real deal

Actually, most pro shots are not hit straight. It is difficult to see on television, but there is rarely a straight shot except for when you get to the wedges. But really, I don't mean to be argumentative. I too will play no matter what we decide. But I will be disappointed if we decide to make it too easy.

I even agree with others about the analog strike fading, but the problem is that if you change one thing then where do you draw the line? Next person will want beads. Next person will want the beads. Next person will want the wind gauge to display numbers. Next person won't want the advanced shot shaping. Next person will want zoom to aim (which is totally unsimlike).

One thing that EA is doing that is kind of interesting is changing each of the rounds of the tournament. It might be hard for the people setting up the tourneys, but it might be a good compromise. The club tournament went for 4 rounds and each round got more difficult. Maybe we could have 2 rounds at tournament and 2 rounds at full sim. Or 3 rounds at custom and 1 round at full sim.

I think this thread has probably served its purpose now, of which all the input has been good. Clearly it's a subject we all have strong opinions about, but we are just going round in circles now.

It would be good if the league admins can get together as soon as possible, fix the settings and settle on a start date so we can all start gearing up for what is sure to be a hard but fun season.
