The Trojans will have the best 1-2 receiving punch in the nation in Robert Woods and Marquise Lee; running back Curtis McNeal is a potential star; and in all, 10 offensive starters might return, along with nine on defense and both kickers. But it all hinges on Barkley, the front runner for the 2012 Heisman Trophy.

Robinson won the September Heisman in each of the past two seasons. In 2012, if he can cut down on his interceptions, run for another 1,000 yards and take Michigan to the Big Ten title, he might be able to win it in December, too.
Interceptions have been the killer for Robinson in the Heisman chase, not looking the part of a polished passer when he needs to. However, he didn’t throw more than one pick in any game over the final six games of the year, and he was flawless against Ohio State completing 14 of 17 passes for 167 yards and three scores, to go along with 170 rushing yards and two scores.

Let’s see if the grand experiment works. It’s Urban Meyer’s offense in the Big Ten, and Miller getting to run it. While the air attack might not be there — remember, Alex Smith and Tim Tebow put up huge, efficient passing stats under Meyer — Miller should be able to run wild.
He was already special this season in the win over Wisconsin, creating his own Heisman-like moment with the game-winning throw, and he threw for 235 yards and two scores in the near-miss against Michigan. Ready to blossom as a true sophomore, his Heisman campaign will probably roar in 2013. But if Meyer works his magic early on, Miller could be one of the stories of next year.

Wilson led the SEC in passing, completing 63 percent of his throws for 3,422 yards and 22 touchdowns with six picks. Even without the star receivers returning, he should be more than fine working behind a line that gets most of the starters back. The numbers might not be astronomical, but if Wilson can lead the team to a few key SEC wins, the respect will be there to potentially be in the chase.

Back in 2009 it was pretentiously hip to suggest that Trent Richardson was going to be better than Mark Ingram. At the very least, Richardson became the better pro prospect. Although Lacy might not be better than either of those two, he has the size and speed to be the next Tide back in the Heisman chase if he can stay healthy and put together a full season. Last year, he was electric every time he touched the ball, averaging 7.5 yards per carry with seven scores on only 84 attempts.

He didn’t have a slew of weapons around him after A.J. Green bolted early for the NFL, but he still led the Southeastern Conference with 33 touchdown passes and threw for an effective 2,861 yards.

Landry Jones QB Oklahoma- The 2010 Sammy Baugh Trophy winner will be one of the favorites to win College Football's biggest trophy in 2012. Jones will no doubt put up huge numbers in the offensive friendly Big XII. The question will be can Jones and Oklahoma stay away from another let down against a team they should beat? If Oklahoma is back int he BCS then there is little doubt Jones will be in New York.

Sammy Watkins WR Clemson- No freshman had a bigger impact for a team this year than Sammy Watkins did for Clemson. Watkins had 82 receptions and 12 TDs in 2012 leading Clemson to their first ACC Championship in 20 years. Watkins also was big in the return game for the Tigers and even had an 89 yard kickoff return for a TD this past season.

Montee Ball RB Wisconsin- Ball tied Barry Sanders for the most TDs in a season in 2011 with 39 TDs. Without Wilson back as QB, Ball will be relied on to carry the load even more for the Badgers in 2012 and this could mean even bigger eye popping stats for the rising senior who could end his career with over 5,000 yards rushing.

De'Anthony Thomas RB Oregon- Thomas did it all in 2011 for the Ducks. He gave the Ducks some speed in the running game and became a great target in the passing game. In the Rose Bowl Thomas had an amazing 314 all purpose yards, including a Rose Bowl record 91 yard TD run from scrimmage. The key to his Heisman chances will be how Thomas handles his role and the top playmaker in this explosive offense now that James and Darron Thomas are gone.
