The point has been brought up that it isn't really any more 'sim' to allow a defensive playbook that utilizes the 3-4 and 4-3 than it is to have a playbook that has the 4-3 and the 3-3-5 or the 3-4 and the 4-2-5 together.

Personally, I agree with this and am leaning towards not allowing the multiple playbook on defense, but I'd like to get some input from you guys.

If this were madden i'd say allow it because defensive minds like RAC, B.B., and LeBeau utilize multiple fronts. However, a college example is hard to find. Guess they figure the kids aren't smart enough for it yet. So i vote yes.

I was originally using Multiple because Michigan does, but switched to 4-3. On a related note, my custom offensive playbooks are bugged. I'll be going with "Run Balanced" default playbook. I'll post this in the appropriate forum.

(EDIT: I read the question all wrong and voted no. I thought it read should Multiple be allowed, not banned. I'm a noob. My answer should have been yes.)

That's OK - Cole did the same thing.

Based on these two votes, the vote is 7-0 to ban the defense - so if you are using the multiple playbook on defense - STOP.

Can I have a couple days to create a custom defense playbook to conform with the new rules?

Yes - so long as it doesn't interfere with a user game.

When we are saying multiple, we are talking about both customable and default multiple defensive playbooks?

I'm talking about the specific 'multiple' default defensive playbook. It is no longer allowed, due to the fact that having a defensive mix of 4-3 and 3-4 is not very sim.

You can make a custom defensive playbook if you wish, as long as your base formations (4-3, 3-4, 4-2-5, 3-3-5) utilize the same number of down linemen.

After the season I'm going to revisit this and determine if custom defensive playbooks are an issue and need to be removed entirely.

Okay, then I have a follow up question. In the default 4-3 defense one of the formations is the 1-5-5. Now I haven't called any plays using that formation, and I haven't really had the time to mess around with the customization aspect of the playbooks to remove it. Thus, am I stuck with the formation in the playbook, or can I can substitute it if one is available?

You can't use the 1-5-5 anymore (per an earlier post in another thread) so feel free to remove it or just don't use it.
