End of the Season Story lines & give your opinion if you want AL Divisional Races Can the Yankees hold on or will the pitching led Rays take the East, will the Red Sox stay hot enough to get into the mix or pull a WC out? White Sox all but have locked up the Central, and can KC get to their goal of 81 wins and a potential WC birth? The West is done and Houston will go on, while the Mariners are 12 games behind but lead the WC. WC: Seattle and Tampa lead at the moment while KC (2.5), Boston (4.5) and Minnesota (5) are all chasing. NL Divisional Races The Nationals hold a 4 game lead on the Atlanta Braves, can they stave off their collapses and win the East for the second time? Cubs have locked down the Central and will go for 105+ wins. Another year, another battle in the West where the Giants hold a 2 game lead on the Diamondbacks. This will go down to the final day and they will give us a show. WC: Dbacks and Brewers are leading, while the Braves (.5), Pirates and Marlins are each 2.5 back. The NL race should be a lot more exciting as I believe most of these teams play each other coming down to the wire. Race for the Best/Worst Record NL Leaders AL Leaders Combined Leaders
Owen Bourns for NL Cy Young. Henry Parker for NL RotY. Cubs will end up with 103 wins and lead the ML in wins this season, but not hit their preseason prediction. Brewers and Braves win the NL WC spots.
Bourns is hungry for #2 after getting a mediocre grade in the draft class review and Maehle upstaging him last season.
We've got our work cut out for us chasing the Brewers and Jason Murdock's new team in the Diamondbacks. At this point I am perfectly happy with just finishing above .500, the playoffs will just be a bonus. I believe our 2nd to last series of the year is against Masler and the Brewers so that will be a big one. On a side note, barring anything crazy Julio Teheran will finish with his 18th straight season under 4 ERA. He's currently sitting on 289 wins and we have him locked up through the end of next season, so he has a fairly decent chance at getting to 300.
I'll be happy with finishing off the season 4-10 and saving my job in KC. But I'm also greedy and want that wild card spot. It would probably be too much to ask to grab the division from the Sox, but I do play my last 4 games of the season against them so it's not out of the realm of possibility.
David Taylors last 6 starts - 47 IP, 26 hits, 3 ER, 12 BB, 59 K's....and only a 4-2 record. He's pretty good. Oh - and me and NeuroticTruth are seriously limping to the finish. It's looks like it is a race to see who can lose the division rather than who can win it.
The Nationals will try to hold on for the remaining fifteen days with fourteen games to play, while leading the Braves by four games. They will go for their second division crown and third playoff appearance since 2012. Starter Jose Hernandez (#3), will miss 1-2 weeks meaning the Nationals have planned to have Julcir Ambrsio start two games, hoping to get Hernandez back from his injury. Nats look to finish out the home stand strong, hopefully shooting for 50 wins at home and then improve on the road, but as long as they go .500 on the road it will be a success. Ten of the fourteen games are against teams that are looking to extend their season and get into the playoffs.
The injuries are really starting to annoy me. Ever single one of my OFs have been injured in the last month, thankfully they've all taken turns and none have doubled down on me, yet. Now Rivera is hurt (4 weeks, thats a killer). I'm just hoping I can hold on with Jose Leon having this stupid DtD injury for 1-2 weeks to finish the season off.
Thats what happens when your only avenue for building a team is through FA.. something I hope to change.
I love that old Padres logo. I don't know why they switched to the new one. I still remember the greatness of those 1980s uniforms.
With losing Troy Thompson for the next 5 weeks, it'll be extremely hard for me to maintain but we shall see, Don McMillan is at 3B for us the rest of the year.
Pulling exports then starting... http://ootp.traditionsportsonline.com/the_dugout/reports/html/real_time_sim/index.html
The only thing my team has been good at the last month is finding ways to give away victorys. I hope they all get valley fever.
