I know there is a thread in The Cheap Seats about the game. But I was wondering if anyone here is playing the new Sim City that may not have checked in there? I know I saw hoodiii and NeuroticTruth post there, anyone else playing?

For all the bad press with the botched launch and always on DRM, it really is a great game! Would love to get a 12th Man heavy region going in it if there is interest.

Feel free to reply here to indicate you have it, but lets please keep the game discussion limited to the initial thread, so as not to fragment said discussion.

i bought it, and sadly it was through origin, not hard copy.... and even though my computer is above the minimum requirements but not reccomended spec, it plays like junk, so im pretty much out of my money till i have a computer that can run it, and that purchase isnt even on the radar for me

Damn, that sucks Aaron. Have you tried running lower settings and/or disabling any background programs on your PC?

I used to play the hell out of this game back in the day. So can you visit others cities now or something?

Yeah, you can visit other cites (just to view them), share resources, and build great works projects together. It's a blast and as addictive as ever!

i have, bacisally the lowest settings possible, its runnable, but so slow and hesitant, that mixed with poor graphics due to how i have to run it just doesnt make it fun for me at the time being. if anyone wants to try the game hit me up on yahoo messenger and i might let you use my origin to try it

Interesting, that is the first I have heard of the traffic system actually being broken. It makes sense to an extent, I always seem to have problems with traffic as my cities get bigger. To me it just seemed like part of the challenge though. As far as what the article states about jobs, I can't really speak on. Maybe it's true and that's part of the problem which creates traffic backups, but I'm not sure how one would even go about "proving" that. My biggest city is like 350k citizens and has a lot high density apartment buildings and such. Traffic is ridiculous in that city and some services seem to have trouble keeping up (garbage trucks, emergency services). I just assumed I needed to place more stations/buildings for these, instead of relying so much on central locations. I will say the map sizes can feel kind of small and cramped as your city grows, but again all part of the challenge. Hopefully they will add larger maps in the future.

Ultimately, all I can say is I have been having fun and wasting MANY hours. The game doesn't "feel" broken to me, so I can't really complain. Maybe I would be more jaded if I went through the launch woes as well, but thankfully I seem to have missed all of that.
