This probably isn't going to be popular with Black Republican right now after my tirade, but here goes anyway.

GroupMe served a purpose, and it still does. But it is the opinion of some there is a better, cleaner alternative to it. That alternative is Slack.

My goal with this is to start a dialogue and see what the interest is in Slack. The fact of the matter is that we will likely not move, but at least this topic will keep the discussion localized to one place and perhaps you all can convince the others that Slack may be correct for this league.

A couple of the features that I'm aware of are channels (multiple groups that anyone invited can accept to be apart of), and group tags - which I think that even Black Republican could agree would have been very useful today. I personally like the UI better as well, as it has a cleaner, more organized feel to it. Giphy - a slot machine of sorts - is fun and easy too.

So, my question to everyone, Slack or GroupMe?

I think I made my opinion known before I left GroupMe. And I truly do feel that it can ease mass communications for the staff (or SunofGod5 when he's trying to trade stafford :)). We can still have a general chat, but Channels offer a way for others to branch out in discussion as well.

That said, there are others here, JFace907 specifically, who can sell Slack better than I can.

Our communication medium doesn't matter to me as both are good platforms.
If the league wants to migrate to slack then we can all pick up shop and move.

Big reason we've stayed on Groupme is the ease off access and familiarity with it for everyone. As everyone in the league is already in it.

The hardest part, for me, about slack is first signing up. Admittedly, that's a little weird. And, Black Republican is absolutely right that everyone is already on GroupMe.

Once you're in Slack, versatility of being able to designate channels for general chat, trade chat, other sports, other games, etc. and join / unsubscribe from specific channels at your leisure keeps everything organized.

One of the biggest drawbacks that I have with GroupMe is that it's hard to follow. There are 7-8 simultaneous conversations happening within one chat window. That's tough! Especially when dipshits (who will remain nameless) are ranting about advance times!!!

The ability to have channels can spread those discussions out and make them easier to follow for everyone.

I like slack better. It's also easier for notifications. Since you can easily see all your tags in one place instead of having to filter through sometimes 200 messages.

Slack's ability to customize and integrate third party apps is ultimately what wins me over. I help run a slack team where we have 30+ custom emojis, a built in random gif producer, twitter, google docs, and google calendar. It's awesome.

Long ago I did create a slack for TMFL, if we end up moving there, i'll be more than happy to dust it off.

Slack is well layed out and easy to use once you get signed up. (Its actually VERY similair to Discord seranrap7). The problem is getting everyone signed up. Some guys cant be bothered to take 2 minutes to post in the scheduling thread or ever be bothered to check GM.

Im for whatever, Im already on Slack so doesnt matter one way or another to me. I think in the long run it would be good for us and make commimunication easier but since everyone has done nothing but bitch about the silliest little things anymore dont be surprised to see this met with some resistance if it happens.

I have never used slack but it sounds similar to discord and I like discord. So my vote is for slack.
