    Slider Testing!

Since we are getting close to getting this thing going I want to have the upper hand with sliders. Here is a set of sliders I am going to test out...

    **Explanation for Settings**

If you guys would like to help me test these post some feedback and results from your game!

I will test some sliders. I have been playing some offline games while waiting for BfR and CW tourney games. This just gives me a set to try.

I have played some games with the ones CoC are using. Just had an epic battle with Va Tech at home(NC State). I won in OT, 20-17. Under 350 total yards for both teams. I was held under 100 yards rushing though I didn't have my best back.

I actually like the ones you posted Frisk. Just played a game of Florida(me) vs Georgia where I won 37 - 21 but the computer could actually run on me for a change and the only thing that made this game bad was too many fumbles.

    Brantley went 16 for 27 for 181 yards and 1 TD/1 INT(Sacked Once)
Demps ran 28 times for 196 yards and 2 TD

    Murray went 16 for 27 for 254 yards and 1TD/1INT(Sacked 3 Times)
King ran 26 times for 137 yards and 1TD/2 Fumbles

Love these and will probably use them more to see if they are constantly this good.

I just played in an offline game and here are my thoughts on each part of these sliders:

QB Accuracy 25 40: Seemed like a very nice number. Both myself and CPU finished about 55-60% completions...right where it should be.

Pass Blocking 30 30: Initially I thought this would be too low, but it wasn't. 2 sacks for CPU, 3 sacks for user. I like this number.

WR Catching 50 50: Default settings are OK here.

RB Ability 45 55: This is the one where I might put the human RB ability up a bit (I believe it affects fumbles. Just way too many fubles in this game. However I ran for probably more yards than I should have with Washington State. So either leave this as is or bump it up 5-10 points for user. CPU was perfect...running backs had great vision and average 5 ypc.

Run Blocking 50 45: CPU again is perfect. They blocked well, but weren't unbeatable. I would probably bring down the USER number to 45. I ran for just too many yards, especially with Washington State. Now this may have been a fluke game, but I'd bring it down to 45 and go from there, or else rushing will be too easy.

Pass Converage 40 40: Finally man coverage actually had some holes! However it wasn't every play. I think this number is pretty much perfect. I love the fact that man coverage actually works in this game and I was wary of changing this too much. I think 40 is the perfect number. But DO NOT go any lower, or else man coverage might be useless in this game. 40-45 is perfect!

Pass Rush 50 50: No change needed from default settings.

Interceptions 35 35: No interceptions in this game, honestly a couple of throws probably should have been picked. I'd bump it up to 40-40. I like that there weren't any superman interceptions, but a bad throw is a bad throw and should be picked more often than not. 40-40 is what I'd suggest.

Rush Defense 30 35: USER number is great here. CPU average 5 ypc with a mediocre back (against my very bad rush defense). That seemed very realistic. CPU number needs to go up. I rushed for 165 wish my RB. Too much. Go to 40 with this number (maybe even 45). I'd say move to 40 and with the combination of bringing run blocking down this should make it more realistic.

Tackling 35 40: Boy user tackling was pretty bad, but I was playing with a bad team! Let's put this at 40-40. Way too many broken tackles by all the CPU guys. 40-45 with the USER number.

    FG Power 10 10
    FG Accuracy 20 55
    Punt Power 50 55
    Punt Accuracy 40 50
Kickoff Power 0 0: All these numbers are perfect. I missed two long field goals, which actually was cool to see. CPU missed a shorter one into the wind, but made two others.

Speed setting seemed perfect. Good separation between slow and fast players!

I had a very fun and competitive game against #1 Alabama. This game wouldn't have happened last year. The sliders made it just right. I should probably have lost by more than 1 touchdown but I made a nice comeback at the end. Here are the stats:

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
    Notre Dame Alabama
    Score 27 34
    1st Downs 12 14
    Total Offense 365 529
    Rush - Yards 19 - 34 35 - 156
    Comp - Att 17 - 33 22 - 28
    Passing Yards 331 373
    3rd Down Conv 1-9 5-10
    Red Zone - TD - FG 4 - 1 - 2 3 - 2 - 1
    Turnovers 2 2
    Fumbles 1 1
    Interceptions 1 1
    T.O.P. 15:10 21:10

    Key Player Stats:

    Passing
    Dayne Crist 17-33 305 3TD 1 INT
    Greg McElroy 22-28 373 3TD 1 INT

    Rushing
    Armando Allen 15-50
    Mark Ingram 28-150

    Receiving
    Michael Floyd 7-146 1TD
    Duval Kamara 2-85 1TD
    Julio Jones 5-158 2TD

hmmmm good game there Ca, it looks like McElroy lit you up in the air. Was it too robo? All the other stats look pretty good. Ingram with 150 may be a tad bit much but still pretty good.

Interesting. The one thing I've found with the sliders I modified a tad was that CPU passing was pretty much right on. Their running could be turned down just a hair (just a tad tho!).

I dunno, personally I like the fact that the great CPU teams should beat you most times. That just makes it more realistic to me.

I think we can leave the running where it is or bump it down 5. At times it seemed as though every player was unstoppable and unable to tackle. McElroy shook off like 3 tackles on one play which was kind of absurd. Ingram, is a different story. I like the fact that the star guys dominate. Which is what he did. I'll give it another go and bump the CPU running down 5 and CPU QB Accuracy down 5. There is no way McElroy goes 22-28 for 378 yards. Show me where he did that last year.

dunlap, I too love the fact that the top teams are very hard to play against. That is what we want. I was trying to explain to my friend last night about the whole sliders and how teams should perform against each other. If you are Bowling Green you should not be beating a top 25 team by 2 touchdowns or more. Last year, you could do it. This year, you can't, unless your name is Tracy and you do gay shit like your name.

Edit: McElroy had a 60.9% completion last year. Against a decent defense in ND he had a 79% completion in this game.

I was a little buzzed at the time so I missed a couple of tackles that should have been made which turned into a 50+ yard TD by Julio. Otherwise, yeah at times it was a little robocopish.

I just ran #7 Va Tech @ #14 Miami which is a rivalry game.

I got squashed. I was down 21-0 in the 1st when I threw a pick to give them possession inside my 20. Kind of weird that I got smacked like that considering I played so well against Bama last night with ND.

    This is what I tweaked:
    User QB Acc: +5
    CPU QB Acc: -5
    CPU Run Block: -5

I'm gonna try a few games tomorrow. Doubt I'll use Wisc though as the rushing will probably be an outlier.

I think the sliders are whacked out. I can't believe I am getting schlacked by Miami with Va Tech. I think that it makes a double whammy if you have the USER rush defense to 30 and the CPU ability to 55.

I disagree....I have had close games with these sliders playing as Washington State vs Stanford, Oregon, and UW. I lost two of the three......but that is expected. The only thing that was a bit out of wack was the CPU rushing, but not too out of control.

I used the ones Frisky posted but modified them a little. Was a good game but I think there are a couple things to fine tune.

    Here are the sliders:
    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
    Slider User CPU
    QB Accuracy 30 30
    Pass Block 40 45
    WR Catch 45 45
    RB Ability 50 55
    Run Block 50 50
    Pass Coverage 50 50
    Pass Rush 55 45
    Interceptions 35 35
    Rush Defense 50 55
    Tackling 45 45
    FG Power 10 10
    FG Accuracy 20 55
    Punt Power 50 55
    Punt Accuracy 40 50
    Kick Power 0 0

    #6 UF @ #17 LSU

Game Notes: - I like how UF won the toss and elected to kick the ball.
    - Sacked in about 4 1 thousands.
    - I missed a 46 yard FG.
    - 2 big runs is why Michael Ford had so much rushing yards.
    - Both of the interceptions by LSU were user picks.

Looks like CPU rushing a bit low in this one. Outlier maybe? Something to look at anyways.

-Helu had 64yds on 20 car. Their rushing total was bad because of 6 sacks. 3 of which were on screens.
-Backs accounted for 7 of Nebraska's 19 comp. LB's can't cover backs in flats. React to them way too slow.
-Got one of the luckiest plays ever to win. An 80yd catch and run that was thrown so bad it was caught by the wrong receiver who's defender turned around. Was down 22-17 when that happened midway through the 4th.
-Backs had plenty of room torun, but would just run right into my defenders.
