    SMU Recruiting

Not going well so far. We only have 9 seniors graduating. To make matters worse, we have no FB's or TE's on the roster so 3 of those 9 slots must go to rarely used positions. We have been very happy with the responses of our targeted prospects though. Targeted 15 to begin with and our now down to 14 with 0 commitments as of Week 3.

Still no commits as of week 7. Had all but one recruit on campus week 6. Moved to #1 on all prospects top schools which could be good or bad. 14 prospects have a SMU as their top school with only 10 spots available. Needs contineue to be K, FB, TE.

SMU picks up its 1st commit of the 2010 class. 2* FB Jay Williams, a 5'10" 250lb blocking spectialist with impressive B speed. Williams was also entertaining offers from Minnesota, TCU, and Kentucky. Playing time was the selling factor as Williams will be the only FB on SMU's roster next year barring any position changes.

2nd commit of 2010 class: 2* OT Spencer Young 6'4" 299lbs. An underrated prospect with B- pass block, run block, impact blocking, and strength. Not bad at all for a 2* prospect.

On a down note SMU had to drop 2 players from their board in fears of oversigning.

SMU finishes out its 1st class. They ended up with 2 3*s and 8 2*s. That gets their next years roster up to 70. Detailed list to come later.
