Defense Comes To PlayNorth Carolina's defense dominates in their season opener. North Carolina's offense was saved by the defense today. Well, the offense didn't play horrible or anything, they just didn't put up many points. They didn't need to. Our defense stymied the Gophers and when they did manage to get into scoring position, they were stuffed. Gopher QB Marquise Gray threw 3 interceptions. The story of the day was Minnesota had 1st and goal at the 1 twice. Once, the Tar Heels stuffed it 4 times and the other, a forced fumble.Bryn Renner was 10-16 for 211 yards but failed to throw a touchdown or interception which is good. Hunter Furr aka White Lightning got his career going with 22 rushes for 106 yards and 1 touchdown. Many are hyping this kid to be the next big thing out of North Carolina but that is yet to be seen. Giovanni Bernard only got 3 carries but he will get more reps in the future. Dwight Jones and Jheranie Boyd led the receiving core with 7 receptions for 148 yards. Jabari Price, Charles Brown and LeCount Fantroy all made interceptions. North Carolina wins 10-0.North Carolina travels to Georgia Tech next week in their ACC opener.
South Carolina 56 ECU 20All Around Performance Leads to Convincing Victory for GamecocksSouth CarolinaThe fans were ready to get this season rolling as South Carolina entertained East Carolina in the season opener. The Gamecocks scored 21 unanswered points in the 1st quarter thanks to a 66 yard pass from Garcia to DL Moore, followed by a 1 yard run by Marcus Lattimore, and finished off by a 36 yard pick 6 for Gilmore to give South Carolina the perfect start to this game.East Carolina would get on the board in the 2nd thanks to a 33 yard pass from Brad Wornick to Arrington to cut the deficit to 14, however the Gamecocks would then score 28 unanswered to end the half. First, Alshon Jeffery would take the ensuing kickoff 102 yards to the house, before two Shaq Wilson fumble recoveries for touchdowns (66 and 16 yards) sandwiched a 65 yard run by Lattimore to give the Gamecocks a 49-7 lead at halftime, allowing the 2nd stringers to come in and get some playing time for the 2nd half of the game. The first play from scrimmage for the South Carolina 2nd team ended with 6 points as Miles took a handoff 79 yards to the endzone to extend the Gamecock lead to 56-7. That would be all the scoring for South Carolina as ECU were able to add 2 field goals in the 3rd, and a late touchdown in the 4th quarter to bring the final score to 56-20 South Carolina.Player Stats:QB Stephen Garcia: 4-9, 107 yards, 1 TD (all 4 completions to WR DL Moore)HB Marcus Lattimore: 10 rushes, 88 yards, 2 TDsHB Kenny Miles: 10 rushes, 98 yards, 1 TD*Player of the Game*SS Devonte Holloman: 10 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 3 sacks, 1 INTROLB Shaq Wilson: 1 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 TDs.
Wayne Billings Pick 6 wins a 31-24 game vs. Boston college
On a nasty day in Boston, Cam newton and the #23 Auburn Tigers would kick off the season. In a game that went back and forth. The fourth quarter would decide this contest. Down 24-17 with a 4th and 13 from the BC 23 , Newon who was erratic in the opener hit WR A. Goodwin for the 23 yard TD adn tie. On the ensuing drive, the #1 CB prospect in the country Wayne Billings would under cut a sideline route and take it the distance from 36 yards away to give the Tigers the lead for good.
Cam Newton was named POG

DominatingThats what week 2 was for UGA as they went into Iowa and showed why they are #3 in the nation. They walk away with a 41-3 victory as the backups played the entire second half. UGA took a 38-3 lead into halftime. The defense gae up 122yds of total offense and got 4 picks as well. Next week is the rematch of UGA only loss of last yearMurray 10-16 22yds 3tds 1intEaley 18rushes 172yds 2tdsWooten 4rec 103ydsGreen 3rec 93yds 1tdCommings 2ints
Started off rough the first two drives and then sub Parker for Boyd and then the magic happened. We put our foot on the petal and didn't look back. 277 yards and 3TDS for the day for Boyd
And That's Why They are #1Miami gets crushed by tOSU at home, 49-24
Wow, talk about avenging a loss. After being defeated at home last season by the Hurricanes, the Buckeyes were ready to beat the crap out of Miami...and boy did they ever. From the opening gun, tOSU came out swinging and running on all cylinders. Ohio State would go up for good when they would intercept a pass in the 2nd quarter, and take it to the house. Miami's offense was putrid in today's game, and at halftime Morriss was benched for Harris. Harris didn't do much better throwing 3 second half interceptions, the most crucial a 99 yard interception return. Back to the drawing board for the Canes, before a week 3 matchup.
VOLS WIN BIG, BUT UGLY
The Tennessee Volunteers got their first win of the 2011 campaign by beating Cincinatti 43-14. Chalk this up to Cincy turnovers, 5 of them vs 0 for the Vols. Art Evans returned one INT for a TD and the rest either thwarted promising Cincy drives or set the Vols up with short fields.
Tyler Bray was 15-28 through the air for 262 yards and 2 TD's. His favorite target was Soph WR Justin Hunter who had 6 rec for 103 yards and a TD. The Vols running attack was putrid as Poole and Oku combined for 72 yards on 22 carries and 0 TD's against a very average Bearcat defense. Oku, who also added a 47 yard TD catch, is going to split reps with the SR Poole to see who can bring some life into the Vol running game.
Tennessee (1-1) must travel to the Swamp for it's early season test against the Florida Gators in week 3.
Flexing Defensive MuscleMiami gets a big win in conference opener
Miami went into Maryland and the defense played great all game. A welcome turn of events after last week's SETBACK. The Canes jumped out to a 13-0 lead after two Storm Johnson TDs. Storm was much better in today's game, gaining over 70 yards. Jacory Harris got the start, but after his injury..two other quarterbacks would play. Morris was the worst by far and will not see the playing field anymore this season, barring injury. Miami's defense would force three interceptions and sack the Maryland QBs 7 times in the 27-17 victory. After the beat down, it was a great victory.
Big win for the Noles in conference opener
FSU advances to 2-0 after an 33-21 victory over rival Virginia. The speedy defensive of the Seminoles held the Cavaliers scoreless in the 2nd half. FSU QB E. Manuel had a great performance an shows he will be an solid leader leading the Noles each week in the ACC.
**PLAYERS OF THE GAME**
UVA: D.Wallace 9 tkls, ATK
FSU: E. Manuel 19-26, 317 yds, 3 TD

AUBURN survives a 13-0 deficit and win 28 -20In Cam they TrustCam Newton was able to calm his team and settle them in to win a big SEC West matchup vs Mississippi State. Last year the Tigers lost by 3 to MSU. This year they were able to handle the no huddle and come up with enough big plays to win. Onterrio McCaleb was sufficient and ran hard as Michael Dyer fought elbow injuries the whole game. Newton was able to throw for 356 yards 2 TD's and run for another to lead his team over the hated Bulldogs. Neiko Thorpe had the play of the game intercepting a Chris Relf pass in the endzone to end the comeback attempt. The Tigers would grind the last 2 and a half minutes out on the ground for the win.Thorpe ends the rally
POOLE PLAYS HERO FOR VOLS
The Vols traveled to Gainsville and put together the best game any Tennessee team has played there in the last 20 years. The 41-13 route heralded the return of Tauren Poole, UT's 1,000 yard rusher from last season who had fallen on the depth chart. New starter David Oku was largely ineffective averaging 2.6 yards a carry until when went down late in the 2nd qtr. Poole came in rushed for a staggering 176 yards on just 8 carries highlighted by TD runs of 85 and 76 yards.
The Vol passing game was on point as well as Soph Tyler Bray completed 11-17 passes for 243 yards, 2TD's, and did not throw a pick. His favorite target was D. Rodgers with 5 rec for 140 yards, 1 TD and a few circus catches. Fellow sophmore Justin Hunter added 3 rec for 48 yards and a TD. Hunter was matched up against Jenkins and couldn't really get going.
Rodgers makes a 1-handed catch on the sideline.
Defensively, MLB Greg King led the Vols with 12 tackles while the corner combo of Art Evans and Eric Gordon both had picks.
South Carolina 24 Georgia 17South Carolina Defense Comes Up Big When Needed. This was a game where it seemed like Georgia and ND were able to run on the Gamecock D at will, but the defense came up with some huge plays to settle this one. First, DE Devin Taylor intercepted a "lame duck" throw by Aaron Murray as he faced pressure which led to Taylor taking it in from 16 yards out for the score. 7-0 Gamecocks. Georgia would respond in the 2nd quarter as Murray brushes off the opposing defensive end like a redheaded step-child and finds his tight-end, Aron White, for a 26 yard score to tie the game up at 7. On their ensuing drive the Gamecocks were forced to settle for a field goal to take the 3 point lead before another Murray interception would set up the Gamecocks near midfield, and they would take advantage as Garcia would find Tori Gurley for a 42 yard pass and catch to give the visiting Gamecocks the 10 point lead, 17-7. However, Georgia would score once again to end the 2nd quarter, as with 12 seconds left in the half Murray found his other tight end, Orson Charles, for a 14 yard score to make the score 17-14 at half. The Gamecocks would start with the ball in the 2nd half but that would quickly change as a Garcia interception gave the ball back to Georgia, and they would tie up the game with a 35 yard field goal, 17-17. South Carolina were able to respond however, and drove down the field primarily with their passing game, before fullback Matt Coffee would take it in from 4 yards out. 24-17.There would be no scoring in the 4th quarter, but that didn't mean that the game was dull by any means. With the chance to take a 10 point lead, the South Carolina kicker shanked the kick horribly short, giving Georgia new life with about 3 minutes to go. Georgia would drive down the field and get to the South Carolina 39 yard line, as they snapped the ball Murray felt the pressure coming but waited until the very last second before throwing it to his running back on the screen. With wide open space infront of him Washaun Ealey took it to the 30 before being layed out by a HUGE hit courtesy of SS DeVonte Holloman that jarred the ball loose and was recovered by South Carolina to end this game as a contest as the Gamecocks escaped with the 24-17 victory.GG ND!! Best of Luck rest of the way.
Can't get over the Hump
USF does it again in OT
Today's game was just like the end of last season's game, USF stormed back and won in overtime. Different day, same result. Miami looked to be in control up 29-22 with 1:55 to go and tried to kick a 55 yard FG that hit the bar. USF would methodically convert three third downs and a fourth down late to tie the game. Then in Overtime USF scored first, and Miami QB Highsmith would throw an int on the sideline that was returned for six to make the score 42-29 in overtime. Back to the drawing board for the Canes.....
Auburn outduels FloridaThe Auburn Tigers were able to hold off the Florida Gators in an SEC showdown. The Tigers move to 3-0 (2-0 SEC). Cam Newton didnt have his best day as the gators were able to sack him and eliminate him in the run game. Newton did throw 3 TD passes on the day. However he threw 2 INT's as well. The defense held their own. Neiko Thorpe had a nice day in coverage. Mike McNeill had an active day with 8 tackles and a big forced fumble. Nick Fairley had 2 TFL's. Michael Dyer added 80 yards on the ground. Big win for Auburn as they move forward and look to be in the SEC conversation. No arm tackles around here
Another easy way to add content only way you shouldnt be posting something in here after each game is if you lose to another user.
South Carolina 28 Miss State 16After a big win last week against Georgia, South Carolina were on the road yet again hoping that they could take care of business against Miss State. The game started out great, as South Carolina raced out to a 14-3 lead by halftime thanks to a 23 yard touchdown pass by Garcia to Gurley followed by a 63 yard pass to Lattimore by Connor Shaw (stepped in for Garcia for a few plays). A 19 yard field goal by Miss State was all the home team could muster as the Gamecocks headed into the break with a 11 point lead.Marcus Lattimore would score his first rushing, and second touchdown of the day in the 3rd to increase the Gamecock lead to 18, before Miss State would score on a 48 yard pass from Chris Relf to his tight end Marcus Green in which he would break 3 tackles on his way to a score.Miss State would score yet again to open the 4th quarter, as Vick Ballard rushed it in from 27 yards out, but they were unsuccessful on the 2 point conversion so the Gamecocks still held onto their slender 5 point lead, 21-16. With a little over 2 minutes left in the game fullback Matt Coffee would take it in from 1 yard out to give South Carolina the 12 point lead that proved too much for Miss State to come back from.Next week South Carolina returns home to face off against a fellow undefeated SEC team, Auburn, in a game that is sure to grab the highlights around SEC country next week.
Miami loses another OT game, 41-44
Coaches at the University of Miami are scratching their heads after another loss in Overtime this season. Boston College was unstoppable all game and Miami did all they could to even stay in the race. Quarterback had a decent day but with the offense not being consistent, which the position is now going to go to fourth string quarterback Scott Whipple. Miami and their coaches are not happy with the way things are going with this very disappointing season...
Virginia Tech Avoids A Letdown Against ECU, Wins 35-31
For the second straight season, the Hokies escaped with a hard-fought win during the waning moments against a pesky ECU squad. At one point during the game, ECU held a 24-14 lead midway through the third quarter. The whole game was a lesson in frustration for the Hokies, as they were stopped on 4th and inches twice, had the football picked off 4 times (2 of them on deflections), and had six total dropped balls. On top of that, their starting running back Ryan Williams got injured while catching a short pass on the first play of the game. "We were an absolute mess out there," said QB Logan Thomas. "Thank God for David."
Thank goodness indeed, as David Wilson ran for 132 tough yards on 26 carries. Most importantly, he found the endzone 4 times. "David really put the team on his back today," said coach nrg_qbz. "Although it might not look like it, but our defense played tremendously as well. It just so happens our offense kept coughing the ball up on the wrong end of the field."
Trailing by 3 points with 2:20 remaining on the clock, Thomas drove the team down the field and into fg range. However, the Hokies would not be content with OT, as they went for the jugular. "Coach just told us to get the ball into the endzone no matter what," said Wilson. "Fortunately I got the call and answered it."
VOLS RUN WIN STREAK TO 4, BEAT UL 24-21
Crackbacks are a bitch!!
Tennessee used the continuing developing relationship between super-sophs Tyler Bray and Justin Hunter to slip by the visiting Louisville Cardinals 24-21. Bray completed 15-20 passes for 315 yards with 2TD's and no picks. Justin Hunter gained many of those yards and both TD's on 7 catches for 220 yards.
The Vols jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Louisville clawed back in at 14-6 right before the half. Strangly, the Cardinals went with a Cover 2 zone with :30 left in the half and Bray found Hunter on a post. He split the safeties and was off to the races. UT nursed the lead for the entire 2nd half and made some big 3rd down conversions to hold on and run out the clock at the end.
Tennessee (4-1, 2-0) must now travel to Arkansas and face the Hogs' high powered offense.
South Carolina 31 Auburn 21In a great game between two undefeated SEC rivals the Gamecocks would emerge victorious in this one in front of a sold out home crowd. South Carolina raced out to a 17-0 lead. On their first drive, and facing a 3rd and long Stephen Garcia was able to hit DL Moore on the right sideline as Moore was able to stretch up and grab the ball before the defender as he was able to race down the sideline for the 73 yard score. South Carolina would add a field goal to close the 1st half after Cam Newton threw his only interception of the day.The 2nd quarter started the same way as the 1st as South Carolina found the endzone thanks to a 17 yard scamper by Marcus Lattimore. Auburn got their first score of the day midway through the 2nd quarter thanks to a 5 yard run by Michael Dyer on the option, but South Carolina were able to score with 10 seconds left in the half thanks to a 1 yard run by fullback Coffee as the Gamecocks took the 24-7 lead into the break. The 3rd quarter saw both teams exchange a touchdown as Auburn would strike first thanks to a 28 yard pass from Newton to Darvin Adams, but South Carolina would respond as Garcia found Gurley to keep the Gamecocks up 17 points heading into the 4th quarter. In the 4th Auburn would put up the only points in the quarter with 5 minutes left in the game as Dyer scored his second rushing touchdown of the day, this one from 4 yards out, to make the final score 31-21 in favor of South Carolina.GG DID!! Best of Luck rest of the Way!
gg @Zikry you dominated us, back to the drawing board lol
G. Reid silence the crowdHad trouble getting going with the new team, but was able to get in a rhythm. Late in the second, and from there on a poppin. Nice little first test for the new FSU team. We worked out some things and learned alot. Our pass defense was great not allowing TDS in the redzone and knocking down balls. Gotta prepare for an undefeated Wake Forest team who upset Clemson today so got alot to do this week as far as who my playmakers will be on offense and defense this year
Tar Heels Stomp Hokies UNC 28 VT 17The North Carolina Tar Heels showed up in Blacksburg ready to play and were thriving for a win. They played, and they got their win. UNC would shut down the Tech offense throughout and the defense forced two critical turnovers, both interceptions, to stall potential scoring drives for the Hokies. QB Renner was named player of the game with his 3 TD, 211 YD performance on only 9 receptions out of 12 attempts. HBs Bernard and Furr combined for 130+ yards and a TD, and WR Jones and TE Wilson accounted for the 3 TD receptions. Next up for the Heels, another big road trip, this time against the ranked Clemson Tigers in Death Valley.
