Tuscon, Az - Flashbulbs, celebrations, and smiles were never considered a few years ago. With the hiring of Coach Bobjr before the 2018 season, Arizona did not have many hopes and dreams for the future. Through hardwork and diligence while recruiting, the Wildcat coaching staff has been able to resurrect a franchise that was thought to be dead. For the past two seasons the Wildcats have won 9 games or more, with each season ending in a bowl victory. With improvement each season Arizona has been able to completely put shockwaves through the NCAA. Really the success began when the coaching staff decided to focus on recruiting a little known halfback out of Antioch, California. When the scouting department left to see Deer Valley High play, they were not expecting the performance they received. Halfback B.J. Martin busted out for 237 yards and 4 scores in the game that would ultimately get him an invitation to Tucson. Within three weeks after his outstanding performance, Martin was given a scholarship to the university and in return he has excelled at his job on the field. Now BJ is a threat to win the Heisman trophy in 2022, and he is also going to be creeping up on some school records. The running back position wasn't the only focal point for the Wildcats when it came to recruiting. They knew they had to recruit in the secondary and Arizona was able to nab several safeties and corners, all of which have them set for years to come. This past season on the recruiting trail, a highly touted safety would commit to play in Tucson. SS Ian Higgins comes into the school with well above average hit power, and great ball hawking skills. Along with Higgins, comes FS Brandon Amos. Brandon and Ian will be a deadly duo for year's to come. Even with these strong recruits and a well built coaching scheme, Arizona will still have a tough schedule. Not only do they begin the season at Air Force but they end it with a tough division game versus the Utah Utes. It will be another great season if the Wildcats can manage to make it to a big time bowl game. But for now, the Wildcat faithful just loves to keep the smiling.
