Just an update regarding the league reconfiguration.

We are currently in the process of creating the online CCM for the reconfigured league. We have decided to simulate the 2012 season to best possibly reflect the NFL 2012 off-season including draft order, releases, trades, free agent signings, and UFA's (up to the point of our re-start). If an NFL RFA has been tendered by their current team, they will be signed as an FA in the CCM. Yes, there will be a handful of NFL players that will remain unsigned, but the CCM will reflect those players that are still UFA's and on the open market.

The owners appointed to continue with the league will join the CCM while it is at the conclusion of the 2012 post-season (Superbowl result will have been simulated). This will allow each of the owners to apply coach/player XP earned over the simulated 2012 season. Accordingly, we will advance to the 2012 off-season starting with player re-signings once all owners have been assigned to their team and completed their XP distribution. We will perform all regularly scheduled off-season tasks and partake in the 2013 draft. The off-season will not be spread out over a week like it has been in the past, so owners will need to be prepared.

All NFL players that remain unsigned at the start of our league will remain UFA's within the CCM. We will NOT be assigning NFL players to teams that are signed AFTER we have started the CCM. So, for example, if Ed Reed hasn't signed with the Texans or the Ravens BEFORE we start the CCM, but signs with a team AFTER we have started, he will remain a UFA for all of the CCM teams to make offers.

Also, due to restrictions within the online CCM itself we are not able to sign the NFL free agents to reflect their actual NFL contracts. Therefore, all NFL free agents that have signed with a team are being signed to a ONE year contract with their respective team in the CCM. It will be up to the assigned team's owner to re-sign the player(s) to an agreeable contract in the 2012 off-season. Jim has tested the CCM and the players will not flat out refuse to negotiate in the off-season. If they don't agree to your contract offer, they will be a UFA - so come correct.

We have no control over the retirement aspects of the CCM. Any NFL players that have retired, but still exist in the CCM will remain on their roster and/or will be UFA's if they did not re-sign or do not have a current team. The same goes for any players in the CCM that retire. If they retire, they are gone.

These factors will have a big impact on which teams owners will be interested in. Everyone will be asked to provide their top 5 teams in order of preference. We will assign the teams based on the preference lists. We will perform a random drawing for any teams that have multiple owners interested as their FIRST choice. If an owner does not receive their first choice, we will defer to their second choice if it has not taken as somebody's FIRST choice. If multiple owners are interested in a team as their SECOND choice, we would perform a random drawing to assign the team. The same random drawing that applies to second choice teams would apply to the THIRD, FOURTH, or FIFTH choice.

Assigning divisions will be based on the preference lists. If all four teams in a division are the FIRST choice of four different owners, a random drawing will be held to determine the odd man out. The owner that is removed from the division will be assigned their SECOND choice of teams on their preference list. If all four teams in a division are filled as a result of two or more teams being assigned as a second choice, a random drawing will be held between the owners that made their team selection as a SECOND choice. Therefore, the owner(s) that selected their team as a FIRST choice would keep their team and remain in the division. If a division is already filled for an owners SECOND choice team, the owner will be assigned to their THIRD choice of teams on their preference list. The same random drawing that applies to second choice teams would apply to THIRD, FOURTH, or FIFTH choice teams.

We are still debating on at 16 man league (two owners per division) versus a 24 man league (three owners per division). Both would have their pros and cons. With the new league format we will be playing ALL user versus user games; just as we will be simulating ALL user versus CPU games. A 16 man league would be more streamlined and it would force owners to prepare their roster for the CPU element of the game. A 24 man league would allow the capability to have more user versus user games while still having the wild card element of simulating the user versus CPU games. We will let you know our final ownership decision by the conclusion of week 17 of our current CCM at the latest.

    Key points to remember...

    • The league will be re-formatted to consist of 16 owners (two per division) or 24 owners (three owners per division).
    • The appointed owners will be announced by the conclusion of week 17 of the current CCM.
    • Salary cap will be turned back ON within the CCM.
    • The newly formatted CCM will be advanced to the 2012 off-season.
    • The CCM will reflect the current NFL 2012 off-season rosters including draft order, releases, trades, free agent signings (UFA and RFA), and UFA's (retirements will not be reflected).
    • Appointed owners will be expected to perform XP distribution, 2012 off-season tasks, and participate in the 2013 rookie draft.
    • Teams will be assigned based on order of preference (TOP 5).
    • All of the rules will remain unchanged except for the trade limitations which would be modified as follows...
    1. ONE regular season trade and TWO off-season trades are allowed.
    2. The max # of players/picks allowed to be traded away in any single trade would be TWO; four total between the two teams.
    3. An accumulation limit of FOUR players traded OR received in each season.
    4. Draft pick for draft pick trades would remain unlimited.
    5. Approval would not be required, however, ALL trades must be announced in the forum so that they may be accounted for.
    6. Trading with CPU teams is allowed if the CPU controlled team agrees with the aforementioned parameters applied.
    • All user versus user games are played.
    • All user versus user divisional games require game recaps.
    • All user versus CPU games are SIMULATED with injuries ON - regardless of season timing, team standing, or situation. The reasoning behind this is to encourage owners to continue to keep a balance of experience and talent on their team in order to maintain depth and avoid losing to the CPU.
    • Advances would continue to occur every 72 hours or sooner if all user versus user games are completed before the scheduled deadline. We would also allow reasonable deadline extensions when scheduling conflicts are communicated.
    • We will continue to simulate every other season playing every odd year (2013, 2015, 2017...).
    • The league will be transparent. Therefore, ALL blatant rule violations and any staff concerns will be addressed in the forum constructively. This will help outline our expectations for the rest of the league as well as anyone else who is interested in joining.

Just to clarify... ALL owners who are not assigned a team on their preference list (top 5) will be placed in a pool for a traditional random order team draft for the available teams that remain if that team's division is not already accounted for by three other owners.

This sounds great! May have to rethink my Steelers since they're a shell of themselves thanks to no cap space

The very strong majority will listen to an offer. There may be instances here and there of players that WILL NOT listen to an offer, but those appear to be few and far between.

It was going to be an option, but we are going to go off preference lists now.

Question...so does this mean you are going to make it so the current draft order in the real NFL will reflect in the off-season of the new league? I wasn't crystal clear on that.

    Great write up!

Correct. The CCM draft order will reflect the NFL draft order (up to when we start the CCM). Thx.

Well either way, it's been a pleasure to play against most of you in this league. Definitely have enjoyed this year's Madden much more because of the league. Not sure I would have played the game as much if it wasn't for the league and it's depth. If I wind up on the outside looking in won't be any hard feelings at all on my end. I'm sure some people will cry and bi*** about not making the cut, it's going to happen. Lol. But I appreciate how the league has been run and give it :5stars:. Hopefully the league goes back to 32 once Madden 25 drops. I plan on hanging around TSO either way. So if I'm on the short end, hope to see and play you guys down the road!
