Just an FYI... We had a regular season game decided on the first possession in OT by a field goal. The new OT rules should have allowed the opposing team an opportunity to possess the ball, but that was not the case. Not sure if the post-season OT rules have been updated with the new ones or not. We shall see...

Funny, I had a game two nights ago where I scored first in OT (field goal) and my opponent got a possession.

We haven't had any issues with OT

I had a regular season game in my offline CCM in which my opponent kicked a field goal on the first possession of OT and game over man.

Offline and online aren't the same, it may be a bug offline.

Maybe so, but "If it's in the game, it's in the game" still doesn't hold true in this case.

Bobby, have you guys had examples like Shaun Mason where a FG on the initial OT possession didn't decide the outcome via sudden death?

Yea. The new OT rules are in place it seems. We've had several that the FG on first possession did not determine the game.

If you've paid attention in these forums, you understand they can update online CCM from their side instead of waiting for a patch. IMO, no one should bother playing an offline CCM.

This game was the first game I've went to OT against a human computer online! I've gone to OT against the CPU a few times in offline games and the OT rules mirror the NFL's current rules.

This may not relate, but in every OT I've played online (ranked/lobby) the current rules applied. So, no sudden death in those situations.

For those who aren't sure what the new rules are, what are the new rules?

Basically a field goal on the first possession doesn't end the game. the other team has one drive to a) score a touchdown and win outright. b) kick a field goal themselves. If they kick a field goal, the game keeps going and is sudden death from that point on.

All other forms of scoring during the first possession end the game (TD by either team, safety).

Once both teams have had the ball once and not scored, the game goes to sudden death.

Basically (assuming Team A receives ball):

Team A kicks FG = Team B gets chance to tie with FG or score TD and win.

Team A scores TD = WIN, game over

Team B scores first = WIN for team B, game over

Both teams kick FG = becomes sudden death

    Neither team scores = TIE

Thanks, I need to come out of the rock I live under from time to time.

Only had 1 OT game, but it ended when I returned the kickoff after coin toss for TD
