    Twins Getting Much Needed Power

With a 2-0 count, Josh Willingham gets a walk off homerun in the bottom of the 10th for a 6-5 victory over the division rival Chicago White Sox. A big win for the Twins after 3 straight losses from the Kansas City Royals. The White Sox were on a roll coming into this game 3-0.

Game One: The Reds took a 3-2 lead into the Bottom of the 9th inning with Ryan Madson coming in to attempt his 2nd save of the season, after missing all of last year with an injury. With two on and one out, Soriano base hit to right field ends up being a walk off as two runs come across sending the Reds to defeat.
Game Two: Cincinnati reversed the fortune this time around, scoring two in the bottom half of the 8th and Madson would redeem himself, recording the save.
Game Three: Cincinnati gave Johnny Cueto a nice 2 run lead, 3-1 heading into the bottom half of the 6th. He retired the first two batters of the inning and then what was no question a strike out pitch turned into a 3-2 count and the wheels fell off for Cueto as he would give up a 5 run 2 out inning. The Reds would get one back in the 9th, a Todd Frazier pinch hit HR but wouldn't be enough as Cueto fell to 1-1 on the year and the Reds back to .500 (3-3).

    Cincinnati Reds Player Highlight
    LF: Chris Heisey
    [IMG]

    * Through two series (six games played), Heisey has 22 ABs with 12 Hits, a .554 average, 3 Doubles, a league leading 4 HRs and 5 RBIs. While the Reds lead the league in Home Runs with 15, the next closest team is the Detroit Tigers with 9, a power source hasn't been turned on for Cincinnati. That power source is Joey Votto, he hasn't hit a round tripper on the year and only has 1 RBI but he is batting over .300 (.304) so they will come sooner or later.

    * Press at 5/29/12 @ 12:15 AM EST.

The Cardinals-Reds rivalry will begin sometime in th next few days, both teams have complete their first and second series leaving the showdown between the two hated rivals. Cincinnati will go 2-3-4 in the rotation and that is: Latos, Volquez and Arroyo. I suspect the Cards will go 2-3-4 also but I don't know who that is in their rotation, maybe something of this: Haren, Dempster, and Wainwright.

    INDIANS STUNG AT TARGET FIELD
Stephen Gardner gets 1st career victory!
Twins starter would actually get help allowing a win today as Stephen Gardner took the mound and was helped by the powerful bats of Josh Willingham, Joe Benson and Luke Hughes who all went yard in this one. Justin Morneau and Rookie Rikiya Maeda both doubled as well. The story of the day was definitely Gardner who looked amazing in 6.1 innings allowing just 4 hits and 1 earned run with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.46. Anthony Slama came in and saved the game and pitched quite well himself with 2.2 innings of work with just 2 hits, 0 earned runs, 4 Ks and an ERA of 0.00.

    2 In A Row
Twins Get Offensive Burst In 6th For A Comeback Win, 3-2.
Horrible day for the Twins as the Rangers struck us out 18 times. However, after a edgy 2nd inning, Scott Baker settled down and kept the Rangers at bay. The Twins bullpen would come in and finish the dirty work as Kyle Waldrop, Alex Burnett and finally Matt Capps who got the save. The Twins would catch a huge break in the 6th as bases were loaded for DH Chris Parmelee. Parmelee caught the left field napping which drove in 3 runs to give the Twins the lead. Scott Baker got his 1st win of the season as he had a very mediocre outing but somehow managed to get it done.

    TWINS WIN, TWINS WIN
Minnesota gets their 3rd straight W pulling to a .500 record!
Huge comeback victory in the bottom of the 8th as the Twins were knocking on the door all game but could not muster up any runs to show for it. Brian Duensing pitched a decent game enough to keep the Twins within striking distance. It seemed at first that the Twins did not have good pitching. When in fact that is the opposite. The runs just haven't been manufactured for the pitcher to work with. Check the video below to see the sequence of events that led to the comeback of the night!

    MAEDA MASHIN'
Twins Pound The Shit Outta The Mariners, 9-1.
Twins mash the Mariners 9-1. Things got ugly for the Mariners in early on as Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau both singled. Josh Willingham would get shit started with a 3 run shot to put the Twins on top. Rikiya Maeda did what many have been waiting for, he mashed a ball for his 1st career home run to put the Twins up 4-0. The Twins would manage to stay on top and only give up 1 run the rest of the ball game while mustering up 5 more runs for a comfortable 9-1 victory to give us a 6-6 record after a loss at the hands of the Texas Rangers.

    Rockies Review
Denver AP: The Colorado Rockies have jumped to a 22-12 record due to some amazing performances. You might think i am about to mention such steady players as Carlos Gonzalez or Troy Tulowitzki. But you would be mistaken. The resurgence of the Rockies is do mainly to a solid youth movement on both sides of the game. The Rockies sit at 22-12 because of superb pitchiing from two rookie pitchers and two more that are 24 years old. 1.Drew Pomeranz

Drew has been amazing in his debut with the Rockies. he is 5-2 with a 2.40 ERA with 32 K's and has given up only 30 hits in 45 IP. ROY candidate.

    2. Christian Friedrich

Another rookie to step up huge for the team. Friedrich is 6-0 with a 3.02 ERA and a WHIP of 0.95. He very well could battle for ROY honors.

    3. Juan Nicaiso

Poor Juan. This guy must be friends with Matt Cain in the "gets no run support" dept. Juan has post an ERA of 1.80 with 47 K's in 45 IP yet he has a 2-4 record. Rockies insiders say he is has the nastiest stuff of the bunch.

    4. Jhoulys Chacin

Chacin, probably the most known of the pitchers, Chacin has dominated the opposition this year posting a 4-1 record with and ERA of 1.49, 43K's, a WHIP of 0.70 and has not surrendered a HR in 48 IP. Cy young candidate for sure.

The starting pithing has been complemented by a solid bullpen as well. They shut down games for the staff.

    MRP Luke Gregersen 0.82ERA
    SU Rafael Soriano 1.50 ERA
    MRP Jeremy Affeldt 1.32 ERA
    SU Rex Brothers 1.69 ERA
    CL Bettencourt 1.98 ERA

Two rookie hitters have surprised and pleased managament as well providing much needed offense to help Tulo and Cargo,

    1. Chad Tracy

Chad was on a tear early only before hitting a mild slump, at 105 AB's he sits at .324 with 6 HR's and 19 RBI posting a .581 Slug Pct.

    2. Nolan Arenado

Nolan has settled into the two hole nicely, he is currently leading the majors with 42 hits, batting .294 with 4 HR's and 17 RBI.

Troy Tulowitzki .284 8 HR and 23 RBi and Cargo's 9 HR's have also helped, but clearly the youth on the team has propelled the Rockies and looks to for the foreseeable future.

Justin Verlander pitched a gem against division rival Cleveland Indians last night, enroute to a 6-0 win for the Tigers.

    https://theshownation.com/boxscore/22323700

Racking up 16 K's (!!!!!), JV was, as Rod Allen calls him, NASTY.

Alex Avila started things off with a solo homer, and then it was all JV from there.

    Good game ryty32

2 more games to go in the series.

    Review
SWEEP... The Reds swept the Cardinals earlier this year to the scores of 3-2, 3-2 and 6-5. The pitching was pretty impressive by both teams and hitting came in timely situations. Latos and Haren battled in game 1 as Latos would strike out 13 going 8 innings to record the win. Game two featured Volquez and Wainwright, another double digit K night for the Reds as Edinson recorded 11 going 7 innings for the win. Game 3 featured extra innings as the Cardinals lost one in a way they shouldn't have.
